Three nights here was a blissful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Rajastan forts and palaces. This historic 1744 building set in Chanelao village has been lovingly restored by a descendant of the thakur. Our room was in the converted stable block, more of a suite than a room, with an apparently resident little owl blinking at us from...

Praduman Singh knows what he is doing and a stay here is sure to provide forever memories. The beds were a bit stiff and should be updated but the property is wonderful. The village and its people beckon with warm happy smiles. The meals were simple but filling and pure Rajasthani. This is a Superior Adventurer Class property and a...

If you really need a break and like to oversleep a few days, the Chandelao Garh can be a good choice for you. The renovated fort is really nice, the rooms are very clean and spacious. Also the pool looked very inviting even though the water was really cold. The owner was really caring about the wellbeing of his guests...

Dear Guest Thank you so much for visiting Chandelao. It is good to know that you liked our property, the room and the pool.I am so sorry that the food was bit bland for the Indian taste. We try and balance the taste so to make it not to spicy for the western tourist and I know some Indians like spicy food .If...

This is a wonderful place to stay. I would recommend a minimum of 3 nights! The rooms are all different, but all tastefully decorated and all offer light and outdoor space. There is a swimming pool, and well landscaped grounds. The buildings have been lovingly restored to their original. The village is peaceful and the people very welcoming. If you're...

Beautfiully appointed rooms, great wifi, delicious food and loved visiting the women's craft centre next door. Spent 2 nights lazing in the pool and the traditional massage was very professional. Great to get more off...

I keep coming back to this beautiful familyowned and familyoperated Gahr. Its always a pleasure to spend some days in a autentic haveli in such a pleasent enviroment. Traditional indian cuisine served under a starry sky or in the open diningroom. Go out with the camels for a sundowner or spend a day of rest by the pool. Visit the...

Our room was in the converted stables and it was oppulant and tasteful. The staff were very helpful and lit a fire to have an evening drink by. The matriach of this family owned hotel also gave us a free cooking lesson and it was nice to meet the back of house staff. Great pool also to relax by. This...

We stayed here for 4 nights and did not want to leave. You are welcomed into the family home with open arms and delicious food. A fire is lit every evening to sit around and meet with other guests. This is part of a initiative to support the local community and just next to the house is a wonderful project...

Our family (including 2 teenage boys) stayed here for just for 1 night while visiting Jodhpur. Despite being a drive from the city it turned out to be one of the highlights of our 3 week trip to India and the most memorable of the 15 hotels we stayed in. The owners have created some thing very special. Located in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Experience the “real” India with a visit to Chandelao Garh. Only 40 km from bustling Jodhpur, this highly rated hotel will enfold you in a different world – the world of the rulers of Rajasthan in a traditional village. Majestic Chandelao Garh is the ancestral home of the landowners of the area, and has been tastefully converted to a modern hotel. But do not expect telephones and televisions – the Garh will provide you with an authentic experience of traditional Rajasthani hospitality in a tranquil village setting. Rooms are tastefully decorated with period furniture, while providing 21st century comfort. The kitchen presents the flavours of traditional Rajasthani cuisine in impeccable style using local produce and spices. The well- kept hotel grounds are filled with flowers and the sounds of peacocks and parrots. Enjoy an evening on the terrace with a drink from the well-stocked bar. A stroll round the village will bring you face to face with the sights and sounds of village India – local craftsmen and women ply their trade, animals graze, women in colourful native dress fetch water from the wells and lakes, children play in the street and everyone welcomes visitors with a friendly greeting. Escape the hubbub of the cities and enjoy the tranquility of Indian village life. ... more   less
