One of the best part of getting here is that the road condition to get to this place is very good. Once you reach, you are greeted warmly by the staff Kailash and Ganpat. You are well taken care of. The property is about 250 years old and do expect to find yourself some spacious rooms that are cozy and comfortable. Families, solo travelers, couples all can enjoy this quiet, serene property that forces you to sit back, relax and enjoy the nature and the calm village life. Big shout out to Pradyuman Singhji, the main man behind the show, who takes time out to meet and greet the guests and talks very passionately about the property and the village. A must visit!
It was an impromptu visit , an 8 hours drive from Ahmedabad for Me, My Wife and Oscar our Lab. In our haste to reach early, we just took a short break midway and fed Oscar in the Car itself. We had not informed or requested for Lunch in advance. About 3KM short of Chandelao, we caught sight of two magnificent Black Bucks. As we reached at about 2:30 PM, we were greeted by Sher, the most friendly German Shepherd and owner of the Haveli Pradyuman Singh himself. He was waiting for us so he could have lunch with us! We had a fabulous lunch in the splendid Dining Area, as he described the authenticity of each dish. The courtyard is nice and shaded in just the right patches. Swimming pool is lovely with huge century old urns doting the corners. At night, the true beauty of this place becomes visible. Rooms are big and bright with huge bathrooms. Outside is cool and dim and breezy and cosy. The evening prayer bells are rung from the Haveli itself, as per tradition, and later we heard sounds of folk music drifting from the village. Needless to say that there's no air or sound pollution, but what I did not expect was that there's no light pollution either! My wife caught sight of a shooting star, and I tracked the International Space Station as it flew overhead. An appropriate star gazing and ISS tracking app on your mobile is an absolute MUST. We had to leave next morning, but we will come back again! …
Only a 40 minutes or so drive from Jodhpur making it a fab weekend getaway! Chandelao Garh is a beautiful haveli and the garden was perfect. I got lucky to witness rain that changed the weather drastically and loved how many birds were around me! Made the ambience perfect!! Don't forget to check out the Sundar Rang shop next door, an organic started by Mr Pradyuman the owner to support the women of the village! Perfect place for souvenirs
While traveling in Rajasthan we were looking for unique attractions and found this great place. It’s a family House which was restored. It has 30 rooms and is located 40 km outside Jodhpur in a remote quiet village. The owner and stuff were kind and polite, they assigned one of the stuff to escort us to a stroll in the village in which we visited the nearby lake, watched the birds, met the village people and kids and set for a Masala tea outside one of the houses getting a closer look at their life. Dinner and Breakfast were delicious. In the morning we visited the nearby Art center which enables the women of the village to earn money and be educated. A great initiative of the same owner. Overall this is a unique and different experience. Highly recommended.
This place is just 40 mins from Jodhpur and a wonderful palce to stay. Its a small boutique place, service by all staff is excellent, the owner Thakur is often there himself and a wonderful personality to meet. The food was excellent and for the start of our trip , this was a great first impression of the small homestay/boutique places to stay in Rajasthan.
This was a little off the beaten track, but so glad we made the effort between the bustle of Pushkar and Jodphur. A fantastic opportunity to stay deep in the heart of rural Rajasthan. This Heritage Hotel is a converted mini-fort and has kept much of the character. The bedrooms are comfortable, clean and very spacious. Modern facilities without losing any of the traditional character. I enjoyed the swimming pool but as late November, the water was 'refreshing'! The hotel is on the edge of a large village and we wandered through it before supper. We took an optional 'safari' through the local villages the next day which was an amazing experience. Our guide, Tansing, (who lives in Chandelao village) spotted the huge 'Bull Antelope' and the shyer Black Buck. These antelope live in close proximity to the local people who actually milk the wild does and so they are used to people coming quite close.. as long as you don't get between a mother and her calf. Tansing, took us through the villages, ranging in size from a handful of houses to 3,000 people. Everyone seemed to know Tansing and we were invited for tea at a friend's house. Visited a local pottery and then, most bizarrely, to an 'Opium' ceremony. We were invited to drink opium tea but declined! Back at Chandelao for a beer on the terrace and a second delicious home cooked supper. There is no choice (apart from vegetarian or meat) and everyone eats together at refectory style tables which allowed us to chat to the owner and other Indian tourists... we were the only westerners. The owner has set up a women's co-operative next door which we visited where the women make clothes and craft items, allowing them some space and their own income in this fiercely patriarchal society.…
We spent 3 nights at this wonderful property and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was in the converted stable block, first morning we were woken up by the calls of the Demoiselle cranes flying overhead, marvellous sight. Another morning the call of the peacocks woke us at dawn and looking out of the bathroom window to the fields, there were half a dozen peacocks roaming around. Food and service was really good. Staff were very kind, nothing was too much trouble. Recommend a walk through the village and also take a camel cart ride through the countryside, very laid back way to experience rural India.
Would like to thank Pradumansinghji & his team of Indersinghji, ramsingh & sahil for their hospitality & making our stay memorable in Jodhpur. The location is so beautiful of this centuries old haveli so artistically maintained with a colourful garden, manicured lawns & a super clean pool. Beautiful, quaint rooms, very clean & hygienic, spacious. Each room different from the others. The yummy wholesome breakfast in the mornings & the tasty dinner at nights all served with the traditional rajasthani hospitality. The open Terrance with the dinning area under the stars was a treat for pre dinner cocktails. Also they have a very successful training & working centre for the village women who make lovely handicrafts from raw to finished products just next to their property. A must stay option if you have a vehicle to travel a little on the outskirts of main jodhpur city. Mr. Indersinghji also guided us to the nearby isolated olvi lake to see the migratory flamingoes. …
Rajasthan is a state in northern India. The state covers an area of 342,239 square kilometres so there's a lot of driving and touring to do, we did 18 days, 3-21 Nov 2019, and felt we could have spent longer there. During the tour we stayed at many places, but none more charming than Chandelao Garh. It is a converted fort in the middle of the local village. it is clean, good value and a highlight was dinner on the roof overlooking the surrounding low rise buildings in the village. We had 2 nights there b/fast and dinner was always good, dinner was a buffet with several selections, b/fast same with a mix of indian and western. There is a alcohol served, there is a swimming pool, library reading room and some local tours etc, incl a 3 hour tour by jeep of the area and surrounding villages. We did this and it was great... it cost 1000 rupees each @20AUD. To prevent being asked for money by kids or locals etc, we were advised to buy a huge container of candy which we did, and the kids from the local school when we were walking played games with us and we shared the sweets. It is off the beaten path but thats its charm, for a view into rural india it is well worth a visit. I highly recommend a visit.…
We spent 2 nights here. Accommodation great, food great, beautiful evenings, informative jeep ride to outlying villages. Great staff. Relaxing. Historical buildings (we stayed in the nicely-converted stables). Away from the noisy cities. 110% recommended.
