The Warwick Allerton in Chicago is celebrated for its prime position in the city, surrounded by shops and restaurants, which guests have noted as a highlight. While some travelers find the rooms clean and comfortable, others have had less favorable experiences with room cleanliness, noise, and size. The hotel's cleanliness generally receives praise, yet housekeeping services have occasionally fallen short for some guests. Opinions on the ambiance are split, with certain guests finding the decor dated. Moreover, the service has come under criticism for its perceived unhelpfulness and disorganization. Amenities like daily cleaning and gym towels have been flagged for needing enhancement, and travelers have voiced their dissatisfaction with the perceived value, pointing out high costs and unexpected charges that don't match the level of service provided.

Check in was very cordial, smooth, and quick. Angel made sure I knew where everything was and let me know that if there was anything I required I could let him know and he would help.

I really enjoyed the room (Queen room). It had a nostalgic feel while still providing all the modern comforts. It was also nice that I was able to open the windows a few inches to let in some of the cool spring air! Most hotels do not allow this.

My housekeeper, Gilda, was phenomenal! Warm, accommodating, and always offering a happy "Hello" in the mornings and asking me if there was anything I needed. She made me feel like my comfort was a priority. Service like this guarantees that I will be staying at the Warwick Allerton on my next trip to Chicago
.
Actually, I did not dine at the hotel. The restaurant is currently under renovation. I did have a coffee and an apple in the lobby but, did not know that it was not complimentary. It came to over $7.00. I have no issue with paying for this service but, it would just be nicer if it was posted that the coffee and fruit were a "pay as you go" service to avoid confusion.

This is not a complaint but, I was sad to find the Tip Top Tap Lounge has been closed and is now conference space. I was looking forward to visiting it due to my Rat Pack kick! I did notice workers renovating the lobby area to include a bar so that will be a nice amenity for winding down at the end of the day on my next visit.

I enjoyed the fitness center. It has much more than I expected. The online photos do not do it justice. I has much more than most hotel's "fitness rooms" and allowed me to find ample options to work every body part. It was a nice surprise and great to not have to seek out a local gym to workout at. Great for early morning or later in the evening workouts.

The one issue I did have, with the mini fridge not working, was remedied right away. I mentioned it on heading out to meetings on my first morning and there was a new fridge in my room when I returned later that day.

It is hard to beet the value of this hotel. Rates are very reasonable and customer service is great.

One warning to visitors with young children! There is The Disney Store right outside the hotel. You may never get further than that on your stay!! :)

Notes:
* There is a $15/day resort fee, common with most Chicago hotels, that is listed on their website.
* There is a $60/day deposit for any incidentals, or charges to the room, that is refunded shortly after your stay. This is also listed on their website.

Boutique hotel on Michigan Ave close to the Starbucks Reserve and high end shops. Stayed here for a night. Check out time is noon and the front desk was open when we checked into the hotel around 10pm. We got a decent price for a petite queen bedroom via Agoda, but note that there is resort fee ($15 for us) that gets charged separately when you check out. There was a pretty long line to check out close to noon so I’d suggest just calling or leaving earlier to save time.

The lobby is located on the second floor and there is an express elevator to get up there. Parking is available and you can leave your car up to 4pm even after you check out. They have a gym on the top floor (you take the elevator to the top and then need to go up a flight of stairs). They have standard cardio equipment as well as a free weights rack. There were no water dispensers. They provide the standard amenities like toiletries and a blow dryer. You can leave your bags in the lobby at an area behind the front desk and come back to pick them up if you want to spend the day exploring after you check out.

I always stay here on my very short trips into Chicago because of the location. Michigan avenue is at the doorstop and taxis/ubers are plentiful and arrive without wait. It's a good value if you can get a discounted rate I suppose. The rooms (and I was upgraded) are in such poor shape. The carpet was torn in multiple places and stained. I stayed for 2 nights and pretended the "brownish" spots under the bed had to be chocolate milk or something similarly harmless. The sheets did not smell clean nor did the towels. The room was also way too hot, not at all sure what the thermostat was meant to do but cool the room was obviously not it. The bathroom is small but acceptable if the shower had not been stained and hair from the previous occupant not in the shower drain. The check-in staff make it very clear that you're lucky to be staying there and they're doing you the favour by allowing you to pay. Not convinced that's how it works. One huge positive is the door staff who without exception are amazing. All friendly, great for tips and all around chatter, even at 5:00am for jet lagged people like myself. At the end of the day, I'll end up staying here if I can get a good rate because of the location and keep using my imagination that I'm staying somewhere nicer, cleaner and just overall better.

I had booked this hotel almost one year prior to staying based on various factors that met my criteria for the start of our Route 66 road trip. After reading through all the recent negative reviews I had considered cancelling our booking and finding somewhere else but it was hard finding a similar hotel that had any availability and prices have subsequently increased so we decided to bite the bullet and try our luck.

We have just stayed for three nights and we were pleasantly surprised! Our room was on the 18th floor with a decent view of the Historic Water Tower on Michigan Avenue, the room was a decent size, really comfy king sized bed, extra pillows, thermostat controlled A/C (not that we needed it). The walk-in shower was great, plenty of water pressure, small bathroom but who cares? There was no hand soap provided and luckily I had a spare one in my wash bag. Our room was clean although I found a used bottle top on the floor from previous occupant (?) and also the corridor carpet near our room was dirty and trash was left outside doors for long periods.

There’s a bit of street noise from sirens and car horns etc. that you’d expect in any busy city location but you’re going to hear this wherever you stay right? So no fault of the hotel. The hotel Wi-Fi was average from our room, randomly disconnecting and slow but hardly surprising for a 100 year old hotel, 5G worked fine.

Unfortunately there is currently no maid service and if you want fresh towels every day you can request some from reception along with any other amenities and they will be delivered to your room. I found the reception staff to be welcoming and helpful, certainly not rude and unhelpful as I have read here - I think this says more about the person writing the review than it does about the hotel!

There is currently no Door, Bell or Luggage Services and if you can’t live without this in your life then I’d suggest paying $600 plus per night and stay at the Trump hotel where they will be more than happy to open the door and carry your bags for you!

Overall we enjoyed our stay although clearly there is room for improvement and hopefully the bar and restaurant will reopen in the near future. Not sure about the four star rating for this hotel, I have stayed in better 3 star hotels but nonetheless I feel we got great value for money for a period style hotel in a top location. I would suggest doing your research and setting your expectations accordingly when considering this hotel but I would stay here again when all things are considered.

We arrived on a Friday night, and upon checking in, we realized that the price of the reservation we made did not match the price of the receipt. We left our bags in the room as we were starving, returned to the front desk, and were informed that they "Precharge for incidentals". I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never been "precharged for incidentals".

We were also informed that the bar, the restaurant and maid service were all not available because of covid ...wait...Why am I pre-paying for incidentals then?

Now, this is not the hotel's fault but the price of Ubers around Chicago right now is ridiculous, but we found that unless we were there to buy Ferragamo and Burberry, the location of this hotel left little for us to " hoof it " too. Nothing was all that close that we wanted to see. and who wants to walk 2 miles home from dinner after having a few drinks. Other option was uber which wanted $40 to drive us two miles.

To be fair, this was not the hotel's fault, but when you have a hotel, and no bar/restaurant open. no consiergie, no in-room dining. no maid service, and wouldn't even hold our bags, then why are you charging for incidentals? Are you afraid I might prank call japan?!?!

What was the hotels fault? do not trust the pictures they have published. The room was a closet. Im originally from NYC and have spent nights in hotels all over the world. This was NOT a 4 star hotel so don't let them lie to you.

We had a Deluxe King Room with incredible views of Lake Michigan & down Michigan Avenue. Covid caused a snafu of our reservation, and the reception went way out of their way to fix a problem that was not of their making. While in the corridor, I snagged a housekeeper and asked her to deliver some items to the room, which she did while I was gone, everything carefully wrapped in plastic and either attached to the door handle or placed outside the door. We were warned when checking in that the hotel was exceedingly short-staffed and there would be no daily service which we agreed to. The hotel restaurants are all closed due to Covid but there is a plethora of places to find food around the hotel, included a rare Starbucks Reserve Roastery a block away. The hotel does need updating, but everything in our room worked, the bed was exceedingly comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. There is a safe in the closet for valuables. Everyone in the hotel was masked, patrons and staff. Never anymore than 2 other people in the elevator with us. Value for the money was fabulous, especially for Chicago!

this is a great location and the price of a queen-size one-bed here can’t be beat for a hotel that’s walking distance from millennium park and the riverwalk.

however, the photos on the website falsely advertise the size of the rooms. the staff are also quite rude when asked about billing or housekeeping. both in person and on the phone, they made it very difficult to get information about random credit card charges made during my stay. there’s a $60 hold per night that you stay over, which is also not communicated unless you ask about it, so be mindful of that when you’re putting your card down. you also need to request housekeeping services 24 hours in advance of when you’d like it, which isn’t abnormal for hotels now but they make it difficult to request when you ask. it is also insanely difficult to get ahold of them on the phone before or after your stay - they rarely pick up at the front desk and also keep trying to cut the conversation short and ask you to call back again later. there is also no microwave in the room!

overall, it’s a great price, but comes with bad service.

This hotel was in a convenient location just off the Magnificent Mile.
The room we stayed is was very small but clean, the shower leaked initially but housekeeping fixed it when asked.
The bed was super comfy and the coffee machine worked well.
The staff were not friendly and breakfast was not included in the room rate that I had.

I chose this hotel for the Jazz Age architecture and wasn't disappointed. It was updated with everything necessary, but they left the original fixtures alone. The crisp white paint and new furnishings and carpeting meshed well with the historical features. The Allerton was well known for hosting people like Sinatra and Capone in its Tip Top Club, and I wanted to stay in a place that wasn't cold and corporate.

I was given an entire suite, two rooms with a bathroom in the middle. I could do my work in one room and leave it there to go to sleep. One of the high points was the view: I could see the Water Tower and a sliver of lake from three windows.

The room was impeccably clean though they have paused cleanings during a visit due to covid. Since the restaurant is closed and there isn't a mini fridge, I'd suggest they re-think their policy on charging $40 per night for incidentals. The excellent staff people at the desk warn guests, but these fees can top out credit limits.

The hotel is a rare budget option on the Gold Coast. The Driehous Museum, a Gilded Age mansion, is within easy walking distance and is highly recommended.

We had been at the Warwick Allerton-Chicago for three days, traveling from Montreal. It was an amazing experience to be a guest at this hotel. Very nice staff, especially Mayra who greeted us at the reception and provided a spacious and very clean room with a great city view.
I would say It was evident that Mayra had good training in hospitality leadership which is meeting and exceeding the needs of guests.
The housekeeping personnel and doorman were very friendly, polite and helpful.
Possibly business leaders of this hotel spend most of their time with their team emphasizing the value of exceptional customer service in achieving guest satisfaction.
Great experience! Thank you Mayra!

Yes, there was a hairdryer in the room. There is a fashion outlet at Rosemont. Walk up Michigan to Lake Street (across the river) and turn left to Clark Street. You can get the blue line (subway) from there to Rosemont Station (approx a half hour). There is a courtesy bus from the station to the outlets.

I'm delighted to answer a fellow Cubbies fan. Wrigley field is too far to walk. However you can get the Red line train (the underground) from State and Lake to Addison. The ground is then two minutes from the station.
