My stay at The Claridge House was amazing. I visited Chicago for my birthday, and Shakeya made sure I had a great room with an amazing view plus a complimentary Bottle of Wine to celebrate. I will for sure be coming back soon.
We were so looking forward to staying in this hotel after seeing the charming photos on the hotel website. However, unfortunately, it was truly nothing like the pictures. The rooms are not nearly as big as portrayed on the website. Our heat never came on in the room, and it was a high of 35 degrees outside all weekend. We let the staff know as soon as we got there, and nothing was done about it. Next, there was mold on the coffee stirrers in our room. They did give us credit to use at the hotel coffee shop because of this, but when we went to use our voucher, the coffee machine was broken. Also, the cleaning service does not come unless requested the day before. Because we didn't read this on the document in time, our room didn't get service. This left us with no new towels, coffee supplies, or shampoo and conditioner all weekend. I'm not one to leave a poor review, but this felt necessary. I would only consider staying here if you plan on being out and about for the majority of your stay.…
We stayed 5 night and is close to many restaurants and bars. Room was quite small but king bed was very comfortable, pillows great. Bath towels were small and a bit scratchy. View from our room was nice- facing the Hancock tower. Decorated for the holiday so very comfy and festive in lobby. We will be back!
This place is a rip off. The rooms are way smaller and dingier than they appear in the photos. The bathroom is so small that the show door had to be installed backwards, which is very awkward. The restaurant's hostess at the restaurant was very rude when we simply asked if they had room for two. The lobby is nicely decorated, which makes you think the whole place is well put together - but the same can not be said for the rooms. Weeks after leaving, I saw the Claridge House had charged my card >100$ without informing me, no receipt, no nothing - and when I called to ask about the fee they just said, "oh thats your deposit, it will be refunded". Not true, >10 days later I saw the charge still on my card and finally someone explained this was the "urban amenities" fee 23$/day plus a breakfast charge - a breakfast that we NEVER had. Also, one of the days we had been there they couldn't staff enough to clean our room, so left a note saying they would refund the "urban amenities" charge of $23, which they also had not subtracted from the total. Finally they refunded the charges after a frustrating phone call. Just not a great experience for the money we paid - and very eyebrow raising that they would charge >100$ without informing me or giving receipt at checkout. If I hadn't looked into it, I would have lost that money. …
We had the most wonderful stay at Claridge House! The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring all Chicago has to offer. We were able to check into our room slightly early which was perfect because we had early morning flights and were offered free water bottles almost every time we walked in the doors! We could easily walk to delicious restaurants and fun shopping as well as a quick walk to Lincoln Park Zoo! The only thing I noticed was the towels could be a little softer but other than that, no complaints at all! We will definitely be back!
My wife and I traveled here from Kansas City for a quick getaway over a long Veterans Day weekend. This hotel offered great rooms in a convenient location, just a short walk or train ride from all of the city’s most noted attractions. Additionally, the staff was very friendly and super helpful. We’ll be back!
The hotel is located in Old Town in a nice, safe neighborhood. The rooms are nice size and clean. The price was right. The is a new Sushi restaurant in the hotel that looked good. There are lots of neighborhood bars and restaurants in the area that make this even better. Still close enough to Michigan Ave. We will stay here again.
When we arrived (after 3) our room wasn’t ready. Jasmin, at the front desk, went above and beyond the call of duty by personally going to rooms and working with housekeeping to make sure the a room was ready for us.
The first impression of this hotel is very warm and nice. Check in was good. The room was okay. WiFi is horrible. We saw the first silverfish as soon as we got in. The employees were pleasant throughout our stay…until. Check out is at 12 noon. At 8:04 am housekeeping knocked at the door twice, about 4 seconds, and just opened the door. Thank goodness I had the security latch on. WHAT???? I then heard housekeeping knock on the next door and open it. Someone in the room yelled “hey” and we heard housekeeping say “oh I’m sorry”. WHAT??? That is the worst practice that any hotel could ever do. It isn’t known that you can’t walk in on guests because there is an expectation of privacy. HORRIBLE. I called the front desk at 8:09 am about what happened and it made the experience worse. She gave me attitude and said “well they do that because they don’t know if the people checked out”. I said that we weren’t dressed and the people next door yelled at housekeeping. She still gave me attitude as if it was okay. WOW! They will do that to someone who is going to take it to another level and cause legal issues for this hotel. I guess they don’t know that hotel employees can’t just open the door of a hotel room because people might be indisposed at the time. There isn’t a record of who had checked out from the front desk? I’ll never stay here or recommend this place to anyone.…
From making the reservation to checking out, Nikko and the front desk staff made our stay memorable and did more than expected to facilitate a fantastic city visit for my whole family. We will definitely return to the Claridge House.
