This used to be one of the most charming hotels with true "old world" style. It has been stripped of its warmth and turned into a minimalist nothing of a hotel. I used to stay there once or twice a year for the last 8 or 10 years. I will never stay here again. The old suites are gone and...

Not a big fan of new look, and front desk location. No coffee maker in room is inconvenient to walk Starbucks when up early. Like the old layout of a suite with bedroom and living room area and willing to pay for it. Sorry just disappointed in the modern look.

I agree with all of the other recent reviews lamenting the loss of the "old hotel." I have stayed here twice a year for the last 7 or 8 years. The prior iteration of this hotel was an amazingly unique and charming small boutique hotel in a great location and great service. After the renovation, all that is left is...

Looking forward to our stay at Chicago's 6th best hotel. We arrived early assuming we would not be able to check in. Fantastic bellman met us at the curb with an umbrella. Felt a bit awkward having to walk to the back with the concierge person looking at you to find the front desk back in small dark corner. As...

Had stayed here prior to renovation and enjoyed the ambiance and warmth of the hotel. Recent renovation turned it into "just like every other" - old charm and ambiance gone. Front desk less than friendly and helpful. Rooms ok but chairs not comfortable, tv not working in a.m., nothing unique or different any more. Bell captain Dwayne and Perry were...

Would have given a higher rating but asked for a quiet room and didn't get one. Housekeeping came knocking on our door at 8:15am. We were still in bed. Otherwise, our room was large and updated nicely. Great location! Service was good.

305francesk, Thank you for your feedback! I apologize that noise was an issue during your stay and I regret being unable to relocate you to a more suitable room type. I apologize for the early housekeeping service and am happy to hear that you enjoyed the size, decor, and location of the Hotel. Most importantly, thank you for your comments...

Everyone was friendly and helpful. They informed me very early when my room was ready since we arrived very early. The room is small but that was expected. Bathrooms are very nice. They accommodated us even after checkout with our bags and parking.

sarahfD9622NB, Thank you for your great comments - I'm thrilled to hear you found the team to be friendly and helpful. Always happy to hear when we are able to accommodate early arrivals as well. Thank you for your kind words about the bathroom decor and it's fantastic to hear that we could assist with luggage and parking. Looking forward...

You expanded and lost a lot of the hotel's uniqueness and now you look and feel like every other hotel - nothing special. The new ownership is seeking to quickly turn an ROI on their "improvements" which did nothing to improve the place but made it a generic hotel with poor quality for the price, too bad, I've got to...

Hi Milans89, I'm disappointed to hear that the renovation of the Hotel fell below your expectations as the majority of the comments we've received from guests, new and repeat, has been very positive. The purpose of the renovation was centered around improving the product for our guests, I sincerely apologize it did not come across that way during your stay....

Great people and property. You felt like you knew everyone on staff... and they knew who you were. Next time, I'd book a day or two more to enjoy the city, the hotel and some of the wonderful suggestions staff would make to get the most out of the trip!

The Talbot has undergone a renovation since December 2016. However it has always been a very nice hotel steeped in old world charm and luxury. It is super clean, comfortable, safe with great staff. It is easily within walking distance to magnificent mile and of course Star Bucks and Maggianos. The staff make you feel like family. Ive stayed many...

Neighbourhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
