Beware. My credit card was compromised and I immediately updated my hotel reservation to reflect the new card number. When my original card was denied, the hotel put my room charge on another guest's credit card - without permission - because we had the same last name. Never called that other person or me. When the other person called the...

The staff were reasonably pleasing. The facility was just awful! The Drake is a staple of Chicago and has famous historical significance. The rooms are really terrible. The hotel needs a face lift extremely badly!

Had an amazing time at the Drake! Amazing views from our room and the suite was huge! Very classy hotel. Remembrance of a bygone era. Everyone we ran into was extremely nice. Only downside is that the Cape Cod Room is currently closed.

Great service, from curbside to check in and out, to room service. Best cocktail lounge in Chicago - the Coq D' Or - located in the lower level. Ballroom features live music on weekends - great place to practice your swing dance moves.

The Drake is a special place. Class, distinguished reliable and great location. The staff is excellent, the bar is fun, food good I highly recommend the Drake I stay here often. The Drake is located right where you want to be in downtown Chicago for shopping access to the beach or trail could not ask for a better location.

Stayed at the Drake for one night prior to New Year's Eve. The location to Magnificent Mile shopping and Rush street restaurants can't be beat! Rooms are nice, but the age of this place makes for smaller accommodations, especially bathrooms. Despite this, the property was extremely clean. There were long lines at the check-in desk, but that was most likely...

I love staying in the old classic hotels. Whether it is the St. Anthony in San Antonio, or the Drake Hotel in Chicago, you just have to appreciate the craftsmanship. This was my first stay in The Drake Hotel, and it was a nice stay. Our room was warm and comfortable. It had a nice flat screen TV that worked...

yes, i knew it was an old hotel. but i didn't expect it to be that dirty and disgusting. dirt on the floor. strange smell in the bathroom. water not even really warm. wallpaper peeling off. mold behind it. it should be closed down until it's completely renovated!!

Me time at its best. I needed time away to do some thinking. This trip was at its peak as I knew I would return with the elegance of a room that made me realize I am special. I will come back and hope to bring my daughter.

We spent 2 nights in the Drake over Christmas and was beautifully decorated. This hotel is iconic and kept up well for its age. The doorman was very helpful. Our room was large and wonderful. We really enjoyed the holiday tea.

Neighbourhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
