Hyatt Regency Chicago garners praise for its enviable location in the heart of downtown, with guests appreciating the proximity to key attractions and the plethora of dining and shopping options. The hotel's updated atmosphere and modern amenities also receive accolades, contributing to a comfortable stay.
However, some travelers feel the pinch of high prices, citing inflated costs for parking, food, and the presence of hidden fees. While the service is generally commended for its professionalism, issues with noise and occasional lapses in housekeeping have been called out by guests.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed one night here after a business trip outside of Chicago. We enjoyed the views, we ordered food delivered and the delivery service had no trouble finding the room. The river view was very nice, we walked to "the bean" from the hotel and it was only two miles from the SkyDeck. Lyft drivers and Uber driers were consistently in the area and easy to find. The check in process was easy, there was no wait. The bar drinks were great, a little pricey but the options were nearly unlimited. Great drink/cocktail selection and excellent service. We wanted to go to the BIG bar but there was a private event there that evening. But the views from the area were probably really neat.
The hallways, room, elevator etc were all very clean. The bathtub in the room was suitable for one person, but was shallow. We would stay here again because of the wonderful service, atmosphere, and close proximity to Chicago sights. We got breakfast at the downstairs market. There are other restaurants inside too, as well as nice lounge areas to have a drink at. There is also a fitness center. Also I heard nothing from the hallways or streets, very sound proof walls. We slept so good we thought we had overslept for our morning flight when we woke up.

It is easy to walk to Chicago riverwalk. I like the downstair open restaurant, it is convenient for the hotel guest, they are open throughout the day. I like that my car can park at the adjacent garage to 5pm with the daily rate although i had to check out the hotel at 12pm on the same day. It is easy location for us to come back to use the restroom a few time after we checked out at 12pm and before we leave at 5pm. We rented at the last min and stayed for one night for the concert. The price for the hotel was not cheap. At least our car can parked in the garage until 5pm. We really liked that.

We had a great trip! Hyatt was well prepared for the large volume of crowds that were coming in. Everything ran smoothly from parking to check in to the overnight stay. Every staff member we talked to was very courteous and helpful. They went above and beyond to help. It was like watching a well oiled machine work. The room was spacious and very clean. You can also tell the Hyatt is trying to be more green in their in room products and cleaning procedures. Overall a great stay and cannot wait to return as you are in the heart of shopping and sites.

I have stayed at this hotel twice for business in the past 8 weeks. The location is great, as is staff, but what I found very odd is that this hotel, unless apparently booked to capacity, does not offer room service whatsoever. You are left with either eating at the steakhouse on the premises, the bar (if it's open and not booked for a private event) or the third, less expensive restaurant in the lobby (also potentially booked). If, like me, you want to work in your room, you are then at the mercy of GrubHub or some other delivery service. I find it odd that a hotel that caters to business customers (and a Hyatt, for crying out loud) is so deficient in this way.

Response from Patricia K, Manager at Hyatt Regency Chicago

Hi stephenmN3142ZX Thank you for taking the time to review our property! While we are in our slower months, it does make sense for us on a hotel level to close our in room dining as an option for our limited amount of guests. I'm so sorry this isn't a great option for you, but I hope this doesn't deter you from staying with us in the future. We have 5 restaurants and bars to choose from including our 24-hr market in the lobby where there are loads of food options both hot and cold. Thank you again for taking the time to respond!

This was a work trip and as I had to prepare for several presentations. The service was the best! I don’t have a great status with them but they accommodated me the entire way. For example, the morning shift cleaning maid forgot to clean my room. Once i reported it, a maid came up in less than 10 mins and cleaned

I stayed at this hotel on business for three weeks. Dark, dingy and dirty rooms are unpleasant to stay in and do any work in. Rooms cleaned only once every four days. Getting toilet paper or clean towels on a non-service day is nearly impossible. “Signature” restaurant remains closed. No breakfast, no lunch, no dinner. No easy way to meet with clients or customers. You will have to always go somewhere else unless you want to sit on a wobbly bar stool and eat off the five-item bar menu or you can buy stale pre-made sandwiches from the understaffed coffee shop. The location is phenomenal but this property is not ready to work with serious businesspeople. My suggestion, go to they Radisson hotel around the corner. It’s fully open and it’s staff and management are not languishing in the pandemic past like this property.

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this is not the hotel for you. Minimal restaurant options, although if you are ready for a bit of a walk, you can get to the Illinois Center for fast food options through a connecting tunnel. Room service was not available the week of a state wide conference, which seemed odd and very inconvenient. Be ready to spend money if you eat within the hotel... all restaurants are PRICEY.
The walls are thin, so if you have a rowdy bunch in the room next to you, you may have trouble sleeping, even with posted "quiet hours".
In our hallway, the same three plates were outside of one door for 2.5 days. A few doors down, three knives were on the floor against the wall for duration of our stay! We saw house keeping each morning taking care of the rooms, however, the hallways were not cleaned.
Good location of hotel within the city.

Crissy H, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with us. It's not the standard we strive for and most certainly not what we are capable of. We stayed in room 2377 and it sure would be nice to have an additional mirror in the room part. We had three adults in that room and it was a bit difficult getting ready in the morning. The mirror should also be located adjacent to an outlet. Looking forward to next year's conference and to see if this request is fulfilled. Thank you!

Paying for location - service at this Hyatt is below average. There is no fridge in the room and the walls are paper thin. The housekeeping staff asked us multiple times each day when we were leaving and wanted to clean the room while we were still inside

I’ve stayed at this hotel and always enjoyed it. This time was no excepting. The door men greeted me and took my luggage and brought it up to my room and that was much appreciated. The room was nice. The bed amazingly comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was some of the best I’ve ever experienced. My only complaint this time was i got my room on a 3rd party app and the guy who checked me in even commented on it. Fine. However, my room didn’t have a mini fridge and when i checked in at 1 pm on a Friday i was told all fridges were spoken for the entire weekend. I asked if i could be put on waiting list and was basically told sure but nothing will open up. Fine. However, friends of mine came later and booked through the hotel app and they were given a fridge upon request and one already had one in his room. I’m certain they wouldn’t let me have one over people who booked directly through them. Also, the west tower seems so far away from the main hotel. I took multiple trips to my car with my things because i didn’t want to make a bellman come all the way over there again just to help me. Overall I’d stay here again! The location is great too!

No, but you can get a daypass to the gym next door which has sauna/steam/jacuzzi.
I have no idea. Sorry
Yes I do recall that the service does allow you to receive packages. As long as the weight of the total packages doesn't exceed a maximum weight it is a free service. However,I cannot answer the question about how many days prior to your arrival that the hotel will receive your packages.
I took a taxi recommended by hotel staff. The cost was 50.00.
