The hotel is very clean and in a great location in Chicago. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Lots of good restaurants walkable. Madeline in the Riverfront Grocery Store was amazing, she was kind and helpful, a great person.
The hotel has been recently renovated and reopened. The rooms are large with an excellent view. There were some "bumps" in the most recent stay. However, Maurcio, the manager ensured that they were resolved. The staff of Loretta and Phyllis are superior. I highly recommend this property. I am looking forward to my next visit.
IHG Diamond. Traveled with friends for a long weekend and decided to stay here. I had stayed here before the renovations and overall they did a good job. Pros: Location: Tucked away in a quiet part of River North. Rooms: Updated with new fixtures, furniture, etc. Bar/Restaurant: Bartenders were nice and the breakfast was tasty. Lobby: They did a good job in the lobby, we watched all the morning World Cup matches on the big screens. Cons: Location: It is really tucked away and hard to find if you are unfamiliar with the area. Upkeep: Some of the furniture and the sink in the bathroom were already starting to get rundown. Especially the sink, there was mold already growing on parts of it. Morning Restaurant Staff: We and other guests waited for about 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The concierge and others said they were trying to get her, but were untrained in how to take orders. Awkward spaces in rooms: Rooms were huge, but there were also huge spaces that were awkward, you could have fit another queen bed in the space that we had in the room. Maybe a couch to break up the space would be worth while. Overall, it had everything we were looking for and the facelift was nice. It's a good option if you're looking for a place to stay in Chicago. …
As mentioned by other travelers, this can be pretty difficult to find. Google maps did not give us the correct walking directions. We were walking from Millenium Station; very doable walk with a roller bag. Randolph to Franklin; cross the bridge and make an immediate left. Hotel was down on the right before the river. Check-in on the main floor and then take an elevator to the 15th. There you will find the concierge, lobby bar, and a pretty massive seating area. The hotel is atrium style. A second set of elevators took us to the 19th floor. We opened to the atrium and our room overlooked the pool enclosure from above. Across the pool enclosure appeared to be more rooms. The room was quite large. We choose two queen beds. The room had a small refrigerator and a Keurig with both regular, decaf, and breakfast tea. Beds were adequate as were pillows. Temperature of the room was easily controlled. Bathroom was nice with a full shower/tub. Had some issue with the toilet plugging but maintenance was efficient and fixed the issue. Was a home-base for a weekend away visiting bars, restaurants, and the Christmas Market. Easy access to the brown line through the Merchandise Mart.…
Was a bit miffed when I first saw only 1 person manning both desks and a queue before me. But I was a bit patient and the queue cleared. Check in guy was a nice fellow, allowed me to checkout a bit late the next afternoon without drama. The direction to go to my room was a little complicated, I got lost but asked the lady at the bar and she showed me the way. Rooms are nice and I was on the 18th floor. Nice views of the riverfront and the city. Rooms were clean and cosy, no complaints. I did the mistake of staying in a different hotel when I returned back. But next time I am back in Chicago, I will book them.
Recently attended a conference held at this hotel. Overall it’s a great hotel and an amazing location downtown. But some oddities are the first floor lobby checkin then you must use an elevator to the 15th floor to go to another set for the rooms. On the 15th floor is another front desk that has limited services if any. They also have a small market place for the usual items and are able to order breakfast selections when you sit at the near by bar and tables. There seems to be no lunch or room service and very limited food options at the bar in the evening. The rooms are clean and some with incredible views. Conference rooms are split between the 15th and 14th floors. Even with the oddities I’d stay again just for the city sites.
This is a big sprawling hotel. The rooms were clean. Most parking was out back. The breakfast was just ok. They have a pancake maker. You just push a button and the pancakes drop off the end of conveyor belt. The staff was friendly. And a plus as the ice machine worked.
We went to Chicago for a convention held at Wolf Point Holiday Inn. The front desk staff of Loretta, Phyllis, and MoniQue greeted us with smiles and joined in my husband's (sometimes lame) jokes and puns. The Bellman, Robert, referred us to a fun local bar with great food and prices. The hotel was beautiful, with stunning views of the city. The lobby, which strangely is located on the 15th floor, is large, airy, and warm with a water wall, ample seating, and a nice bar in the center. Javier and Ignacio at the bar were wonderful, polite, and very professional. Bar prices were a little steep. We did not eat in the restaurant, but the food provided for the convention was delicious, even the scrambled eggs and fruit trays for breakfast! The rooms were plenty large enough, and the beds comfortable. We were all very pleased and would recommend to anyone. …
The Holiday Inn Chicago - Wolf Point has excellent room and lobby services in a downtown location adjacent to the Chicago River's confluence (where the North & South Branches come together. The view outside my upper floor room was excellent: with both the stream of riverboat traffic and the various railroad terminals on the other side of the river always putting on a show. The view looking south also gives a glimpse of the canyon of classical & modern Chicago skyscrapers that have been built on both sides of the River. This hotel is also convenient to Chicago's River Walk. The hotel's lobby is located on the 15th floor of this multi-use skyscraper (located next to the Merchandise Mart). The hotel staff was helpful in arranging our trips each day, such as for the Chicago Architecture boat tour. I'd recommend pre-purchasing the breakfast that's available each morning; that made picking it up each morning easier. Note this hotel doesn't offer a breakfast buffet; you'll need to order individual breakfasts from the market/convenience store in the lobby. The breakfasts were decent; and service was quick. One suggested improvement for the hotel would be to improve the outside signage. There's only a small lobby sign and no outside sign that lets you know this is a Holiday Inn. Fortunately I usually had a cab driver who remembered that this is a Holiday Inn (not every cabbie may know about the reopened hotel); the hotel can be tough to find if you're walking and are unfamiliar with the area.…
This is probably one of the best choices in Chicago it’s not in the busy city but is easy walking distance to everything. The rooms are excellent spacious with a fridge and tea and coffee maker. The staff are friendly and the beds are probably most comfortable I have ever slept in and the pillows I wanted to take one home.the biggest shout out has to go to the housekeeping staff who worked tirelessly and the hotel is spotless our room was serviced every day to the highest standard.the only negative is the river bend market the prices are exorbitant and to be asked verbally if you are going to leave a tip when you are purchasing a bottle of milk! Luckily there is a CVS and Starbucks 5 min walk. Clark st is a 15 min walk with lots of choices for food Beatrix is great food. The best night we had was at Nittis supper club great food and entertainment if you can get a reservation don’t hesitate. The bar and restaurant is a huge space which makes it devoid of any atmosphere might explain why very few people seem to eat or drink here. We would highly recommend to stay here.…
