I was to attend a conference at the Chicago convention centre and was booked at the Congress Plaza hotel as it is close to the convention centre. It is a nice old hotel, comfortable rooms and bed, neat bathroom and linen. The breakfast seemed adequate although not a large spread…
On recent business trip stayed at the Congress for two nights, wonderful historic location over looking the lake, fabulous. The building is full of history and the bar is excellent location to meet for a few cocktails and talk business.
That's exactly what I got with my stay on Saturday, Feb 9th, 2019. I check in, put my bags down in my room, and off to the auto show. Great time! Only to return to a toilet that wont flush, a fridge with the last guests food in it along with some old pills, a filthy coffee…
Love the Congress Plaza Hotel in Chicago. Always try to get a lake view. Easy walking distance to Shedd and Field Museum, Grant and Millenium Parks and Michigan Ave. Old rooms but most updated. Always clean. Take friends there because of this.
We loved the location- the hotel was within walking distance of many sites especially the lake and parks and some downtown areas. Rooms were clean and comfortable but this is a hotel with more of an old-world "character" which we loved but may not be for everyone.
"ask for a NEW ROOM specifically"
"Ask about sizes of rooms, we had two that were vastly different."
"14th floor on the south tower... we had 1403, right next to the elevator, quiet with a knockout view."
"Cash on hand gives best access to amenities."
"Saw Frankie Vali across the street. Walking distance to Art Museum."
