The Hilton Chicago garners mixed feedback from guests, who often applaud its prime location near parks and museums but suggest it's due for renovation. While the historic atmosphere is appreciated, the decor is seen as outdated, and opinions on service and amenities fluctuate, with compliments for the staff's friendliness contrasting with grievances about additional charges and service delays.
Room cleanliness and upkeep are inconsistent, leaving several travelers dissatisfied with the value, pointing to the high costs and unexpected fees given the state of the facilities.

The location is just central to literally everything you would need to do. The building is iconic and will tell it’s history in the main entrance lobby level. The hotel bar and restaurant is very nice and so is Kitty O’Shea’s. The grab n go shop lobby level is a very good idea and stayed opened late. Keep in mind this is a very big building and lots to see. The mobile check in worked fine but they were having mobile key access issues, so was issued keys. There are a lot of elevators to go up and down but you have to pay attention to which one will take you to your floor. In the elevators you do not need a key card but they do have plenty of security monitoring who comes in/out up/down. The floors remind me of The Shining lol, with many hallways and turns. My room wasn’t available until after 6pm so that was frustrating but when I did finally get to my room bags of dirty linens was sitting outside my room until Saturday morning. My room was tiny and really didn’t look like the pictures online, but it fine. Bathroom was nice but has hair in tub and on floor by toilet. The bed does not come with a comforter which I found out the hard way cause woke up cold in room even though heat was on. Requestws more sheets and blanket which took a moment and had to call back downstairs to see what was taking so long. When the items arrived the sheets were badly stained, notified front desk, the women at desk was surprised not really concerned didn’t get an apology/nothing. At checkout I tried to pay with my gift cards but the agents never heard of someone paying with a gift card, looked confused, and didn’t know how (you can by the way), then stated her card machine wasn’t working, at this point I just wanted to check out. I don’t know if I would stay here again. If I do I hope my experience will be different and better.

My family and I have stayed at 4 different Hilton hotels in Chicago and this by far is my favorite! The hotel is beautiful and staff is amazing and friendly. There is an Irish pub by the hotel lobby with great food and Guinness on tap. Oscar and Mike by the fitness/pool center go above and beyond to accommodate and make you feel welcomed. Facilities are top notch. If you are not a Hilton Honors member, you need too and won’t regret it. You get room upgrades and food/beverage credits, Hilton does it right to make you feel special! Can’t wait to go back.

I was in town for the taste of Chicago festival, this hotel was a short distance from Grant Park. The hop off and on bus has a stop right outside of the hotel, it is located close to many great restaurants and is roughly 12-15 blocks from the riverwalk ( I recommend walking to take in the sights but rideshare and CTA is an option) The staff is extremely friendly and informative. The hotel is a bit dated and my room was small, the bed was hard, the lamp shade was broken and the toilet seat was dirty upon my arrival. Beware that herb restaurant is grossly overpriced, cvs is a few blocks down and 7-11 is about two blocks up on State street. Overall my stay was pleasant and I wasn't in the room much as the city is absolutely beautiful.

I was disappointed with my stay. At this allegedly fine hotel, the $230 room was cramped and dark. The sheets were scratchy as well. I had forgotten my comb; the vast majority of hotels, even budget ones, generally have sundries at the desk. The Hilton did not. It cost $5.50 to get a small, plastic comb from the gift shop. Two coffees for the small coffee maker are included in the room price. If you want more coffee, be prepared to shell out $6.00 for a cup downstairs--no complimentary coffee for guests. The breakfast buffet restaurant was closed during my stay leaving only two ala carte options, both overpriced. There is a tablet in the room meant to be a virtual concierge, but I found very little helpful information on it--mostly ads. One bright spot: the staff was nice. Generally speaking, you COULD have a nice stay if you're willing and able to spend more cash, and lots of it.

Hotel Review Hilton Chicago Last visit at the Hilton Chicago 22.-24.Oct 23 did not satisfy me at all. Being in a 4*+ hotel, the Hilton does not match up to expected service level of comparable hotels. Check in procedure was poor, no nice welcome, no special reflection on my loyalty status. The Hotel provides self service catering area and restaurants what is fine. It does not offer room service and it does not provide an executive lounge for privileged Hotel guests, what is globally established standard at Hilton premium hotels. Instead, and as a mandatory “service fee”, a 25$/night and room is charged, which can be used as purchase voucher in any affiliated restaurants. But not in one shot, as Inexperienced, you need to join the facilities every day. No word about it while booking and not explanation while checking in. Too bad finding non used vouchers on your bill.
Negative experience. My room wasn’t made up over the day. Travelling overseas with jet lag you wish to enjoy fresh towels and linen or fresh coffee. Some of the reason why I chose Hilton. Not of any possible. But even worse: Walking down to the reception to request the service, it was promised to me to be done. Returning again at 10PM in the night, nothing happened. Ok, I’ll survive, but report to hotel managment for improvement. After 5 days no satisfying respond except bot-like respond phrases. Summary Infrastructure: 4 of 5 Rooms: 3 of 5 (reflecting the category level) Location: 5 of 5 Restaurant: 4 of 5 (I tried the sports bar, not fully crowded, but very busy, passionates waiters, food / drinks good) Reception: 1 of 5 Guest relation management: 1 of 5 Value for money: 2 of 5 “Must not come back” experience.

It’s a sad day when you arrive at a hotel and you’re paying $299 per night and they inform you at the front desk that there will be no cleaning service of the room at all. If you would like anything you would need to call them. Staying there for three days and having absolutely no cleaning service is a surprise. My feeling is that if you don’t have the staff and cannot clean the rooms of the hotel that you currently have, you shouldn’t be booking other rooms. The hotel is somewhat old and rickety. There’s nicer hotels nearby. I would recommend that you stay at those where they most likely clean your room.

We do have a cleaning service available and it is based on the guest's preference. Some guests prefer daily service and others will schedule based on their needs. We apologize for the confusion and would like to hear more about your experience. Recently stayed at the Hilton for a conference and was very disappointed. The overall nightly pricing was higher compared to the price of much nicer, highly rated hotels in the area. This hotel was booked due to the convenience of the conference however I wish we stayed in a different hotel and commuted. The housekeeping staff was non-existent and hotel staff was not helpful in resolving concerns. We were asked about housekeeping preferences during checkin and asked to receive daily housekeeping. They did not come at all during our stay and when it was brought to staff attention at the front, we were assured they would come the during the day on the final day of our stay but did not show up. I would not recommend this hotel and if visiting Chicago in the future we will plan to stay elsewhere.

I would not stay here again. The hotel is outdated, the service is generally lacking, and my stay wasn't what I would expect for the cost. The front desk service is very slow and they do not answer the phone. I had multiple problems with my key, we needed extra towels, we needed to request a luggage cart... Each of these concerns required a trip to the front desk and waiting in line, sometimes up to 30 minutes. The room was only cleaned twice over a six night stay. I'm fairly confident that it was only cleaned because I specifically asked the housekeeping manager for it to be done, since it hadn't been cleaned otherwise. We had to empty our own trash multiple times. The pillows are the worst I've ever seen. The elevators take you to random floors. The restaurant was full of dirty tables, and no one was cleaning them to turn them over. There was a large conference being held at the hotel while we were there, and while I understand that can create foot traffic and noise, it was unbearable. I had to literally push my way through a crowd every time I wanted to leave the hotel, like a moshpit at a concert. Large groups standing around common areas, blocking aisles, staircases, and doorways. No efforts were made to leave walkways, contain the cried to specific conference rooms, or to accommodate other guests. That's mostly the fault of the conference attendees, but the hotel could have stepped up to offer some organization, maintain some kind of fire code or general concern for other guests. Overall, an incredibly disappointing stay.

This is a great location across from Grant Park good eating locations within walking distances a block or two radius. However the check in was received with about a hour wait time. Rooms were not ready and assigned until 8pm after arriving at 3pm. Tip. Any rooms facing Michigan Ave you can hear the emergency services going up and down the Michigan Ave even on the 19th floor very hard to sleep. The hotel was sold out so unable to move rooms. Will I pick this location again. However as for maybe lake front view.

The Hilton Chicago is situated in the South Loop / Downtown area of the city opposite Grant Park.
We took a taxi from the Hilton at O’Hare airport to the hotel for $55 which took around 40 minutes with no traffic delays.
Harrison on the Red metro line is the nearest station which is a couple of blocks away. There are numerous buses running along South Michigan Avenue to take you to various parts of the city.
Our room on the 10th floor was spacious but the furniture and fittings were a little dated, especially the chest of drawers.
The bathroom was also somewhat old but adequate with a shallow tub and a decent shower.
We initially had a problem with the air conditioning in the room which made it a little chilly. I couldn’t get the temperature setting to go above 68 degrees Fahrenheit but eventually managed to turn it off.
Breakfast was served in the very good 720 South bar and grill. We had $18 each credit being Hilton Diamond members which offset the $34 per head cost.
We used the in house bar Kitty O’Shea for drinks which had a nice range of ale, a pleasant atmosphere and good service.
I was unable to obtain a late checkout as the hotel was full, but we were able to leave our luggage with the concierge and use the excellent gym and swimming pool changing rooms on the 8th floor to freshen up prior to leaving for the airport.
Overall we enjoyed our three night stay. My overall bill was over $1100 including drinks and breakfast, but this is the norm for decent hotels in USA.
All the staff we came across were pleasant and helpful.
Being a Diamond member, however, does not count for too much in the USA. No complimentary bottled water is supplied nor gratis breakfasts (just $18 credit per person per day).

We used the train system as it was considerably cheaper than a taxi. I’ve heard a taxi can be up to $50 one way, whereas a train ticket is $5 one way per person. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the train station (Blue line from O’Hare to Jackson). And I did the walk with my roller board luggage. Good luck!
