Hotel's Favourite
Virgin Hotels Chicago is one of the most fun and thoughtful hotels I’ve ever stayed in. There are many areas to relax in with a good vibe and high-end features. There’s a coffee shop with excellent espresso and tea drinks. Miss Ricky’s is the chicest diner, with the most amazing salmon eggs Benedict, or you can get Brekkie if you’d like a taste of the UK. The Commons Club has been closed during the pandemic but there is a sophisticated lounge and “funny library” on the 2nd floor for a mini getaway. The rooftop bar has indoor and outdoor seating, with a nice view over the city, and live music on weekends. There’s also a gym but we didn’t try it this trip. They’ve completely rethought the hotel room into a two-part chamber, making the space seem extra generous and adding comfort for couples not always on the same sleep schedule. There’s a robe, yoga mat and even umbrella as well as signature scented toiletries. The bed has an extra “seat” corner, the desk is flexible, and you can cast from your phone to the tv with ease (as well as other things). I slept like a rock, with my sleep app stats to prove it. (We heard the L train but it didn’t bother us at all, in fact it added to the city ambience for us.) With the Virgin app you can tip the staff electronically, super helpful. All within easy walking distance of the waterfront parks, Riverwalk, and so much more in the Loop. Right on the red line if you want to take the L further. Best of all, the staff are to a person friendly, efficient, and genuinely nice people. We hope to be back again soon! What a lovely place.

You can have a great property, but if it is not managed properly, the result is poor. There are too many things happening at this property that the mgmt. had control over but either didn't understand how to do it or choose not to. I'd stay elsewhere. Lots of great hotels in that same area. This one had too many outsiders vying to go to the "free" party on the roof to which the manager replied, "you should have know about it." Yikes. The hotel shows a picture of the rooftop area and advertises a library. Neither were available during my stay. I had to go over to Citizen M for a drink. Lot of places to choose from in this area. The young employees were super nice but didn't know how to handle problems. Avoid.

Having seen my share of corporate hotels, I always enjoy Chicago’s selection of Boutique hotels. Check-in was smooth and courteus. Room is perfect with a city view. Bed is good, cute vanity and great shower. I would prefer duvet over sheets and we only had only one robe and no slippers. And very much appreciated the quality shampoo and conditioner. Special plus for the sustainable big refillable bottles. The fridge is cute, but not sure why falsely advertise street prices…they are minibar prices and that’s fine. Breakfast was good, as were the coctails on top terrace. Yes, you hear the train and the sirens and the music from upstairs, but you are in the city, so fine by us. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Peculiar and fun decor and top notch service. Everyone in the lobby is helpful and kind - thank you! Ps. Perfect location too

Nice little hotel, handily placed for the river walk, boat tours, metro and the magnificent miles. There's even a 7-11 just around the corner. Friendly staff, easy check in although the $300 security deposit was by far the highest of any on our trip. You can use the app to control the TV and AC as well as order room service. We got a suite and the extra room was well worth it but not sure the "river view" lived up to expectations.

Fabulous boutique hotel in a great location. The rooms were beautifully designed and my suite was spotless. Fun friendly staff and fabulous rooftop terrace made our stay this week in Chicago . We would highly recommend staying here over the larger corporate chains in the city

This was hands down one of my all-time favorite hotel stays. The hotel was awesome- room was comfortable, clean, cozy, and charming, and the hotel had a fun vibe. The free drinks during the daily happy hour were delicious and generous. The best part, though, was definitely the staff. They were some of the nicest and most thoughtful people and were so genuine and kind. We arrived in the early morning straight off the overnight train, but Danny found us a room that we could check into immediately and even gave us a complimentary upgrade. We enjoyed chatting with him each time we passed through the lobby. Elina made my day by delivering a delicious piece of birthday cake to our room. We spent one night at the Four Seasons after our stay at the Virgin, and the Virgin was way better! Do yourself a favor and don’t miss this gem in the heart of the Loop! Thanks for a great stay!

We decided to stay here after I had a great experience at another Virgin Hotel. While many of the same things I liked at the Nashville location were similar here, there were a few areas where the Chicago location did not measure up. Pros - Excellent, attentive staff - beautiful room with modern amenities - The hotel is an old office building converted into a hotel - some really stunning architectural details - the discounted parking at the lot next door is a great value for downtown Chicago Cons - Several things were broken - the door to our toilet would not lock, and there were multiple machines in the fitness room that were not working. - There is not quiet place to have a drink here. The rooftop bar is more of a nightclub, and was blasting music at 4:30 PM. Even our 22 year old didn't like it. There is a ground floor restaurant, but it does not have full bar space. There appears to be a bar space on the second floor, but it is not open. - The rooftop bar was out of many types of beer and alcohol Overall, the pros outweighed the cons and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel; however, it would be better if they could address the cons.

Conveniently located in the heart of Chicago downtown. It was nicely decorated, and I loved the extra sliding doors so my dogs did not bark at everyone passing the door. The only downside of it was there was no pet relief area close by. The Millennium Park does not allow any pets inside, and the closest dog park was located about 30 minutes from the hotel. My husband and I tried to extend One more night, but the rate tripped than what we initially booked for, so that was a bummer. Still a great hotel To travel with pets, and we will book again when we come through Chicago next time.
