We booked my mother-in-law into the Ruby Room for a long weekend. When we checked into the room, there was trash on the nightstand from a previous guest, the smoke detector seemed to have been pulled from the ceiling, and the bathroom lights didn't work. In addition, we paid about an extra $100 for this room based on the description...

Dear Anonymous, As an owner, this kind of feedback is always hard to hear. I tried to identify who you were to reach out after this was posted online to apologize and make this right, but was unable to confirm your contact information. First, I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the issues you experienced. These were simple fixes and...

My husband and I spent 2 nights here while visiting our son who lives in Wicker Park. Room was very nice and clean. Bed super comfy and bathroom with steam shower a plus. We were in 3 C that faced Division and found it to be not noisy at all. The room had no TV which I considered a plus...

I lived in Wicker Park many moons ago and was thrilled to find the Ruby Room. The room was cute, clean and very comfortable. No tv, but no big deal. Only downside was hauling my wife's bag up four flights of narrow steps. Staff was super friendly and held our bags for a few hours after we checked out. If...

Our daughter who lives in Chicago thought we'd enjoy staying at this boutique hotel in Wicker Park. We did really enjoy the area, but the hotel, not so much. First, the stairs. Staying on the top floor meant we were away from the noisy street, but this was the steepest, narrowest staircase we've ever seen in a hotel. And of...

I stayed a night at this fabulous little gem found smack down in the Wicker Park area! Within walking distance to tons of local shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The room was amazing and quiet and romantic. No TV or phone and just a very peaceful place. The hotel also has a cool store beneath it selling candles and lotions and...

We stayed here for my sister's wedding. We rented 5 out of the 6 rooms and it was a lot of fun being able to stay is such a cute inn all together. The inn is location in a great area, walking distance to lots of good restaurants and bars. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The only negative...

If you are looking to stay in a authentic Chicago neighborhood void of corporate assets/chains, full of energy, diverse dining options, accessible transportation options, in a building of human scale, etc. this is a perfect stay. I didn't take advantage of spa services, but I was at peace in my entire stay and felt refreshed for work the next day....

My husband and I stayed just one night while visiting our son. The hotel is small maybe 4 rooms per floor. The room itself(3D) was located at the back of the building and it was very quiet. The bed was soft and comfortable. Minimal noise except for a loud walker above us on the wooden floors. Parking, however was terrible....

Stayed for two nights with a friend. The location of the hotel is great, in the middle of Wicker Park, close to many food and drink options. The room is big, the bed comfy, and the bathroom ok - weak water and temperature pressure. There aren't any tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but there is a kitchen...

I came to Ruby Room not sure exactly what to expect and just knowing that it was highly recommended in the Frommer's guide to Chicago. Upon arrival I found out a very pleasant place, located in an old and apparently landmark building, with great space and ambiance. As important was the concierge team - attentive, helpful, and very welcoming. (Their...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Best in the City" - Chicago Magazine.Ruby Room Hotel & Spa is one of Chicago's most unique overnight destinations. Just 8 minutes from downtown, in the heart of historic Wicker Park's restaurant, shopping and nightlife scene.Modeled in the European tradition, Ruby Room is neither a hotel nor a traditional B&B. Our concept is that of relaxation. By design, we do not offer telephones or televisions. We do not offer 24 hour reception or bellman services. We make a practice of not entering your room during your stay, unless requested. Ruby Room is a historic property and does not offer an elevator. Please keep this in mind, if you or any of your guests have a challenge with mobility. What we do offer are outrageously comfortable pillow top mattresses with 500 thread count linens, large marble and glass showers, 4 of which are equipped with commercial steam units along with complimentary AVEDA products. Crown molding and fine woodworking throughout. Modern furniture peppered with antiques, new community kitchen, gorgeous garden with waterfall and all a part of a day spa, hair salon, yoga studio, two retail boutiques, 5,000 square foot health club and a serene healing sanctuary. If you're looking for something super clean and relaxing, we offer a restful room attached to a unique spa in a super cool neighborhood. Your peace is our passion. ... more   less
