I would 100% NOT recommend staying at this hotel. It did not live up to its star rating, the check in and parking was miserable and for the cost of room (suite) there are much better options in the city. We chose this hotel for the availability of a suite and the outdoor pool, but it was just not a good experience even with the extras thrown in to compensate for the ongoing issues. First the check in. We arrived after 5 pm and were told room wasn’t ready. Over 2 hours after check in time. Asia at the front desk informed as that 3 pm isn’t check in it means check in is AFTER 3. We have NEVER heard this before. She said our only option was to be downgraded from a suite if we wanted a room now (we had asked about upgrading previously and offered to pay the difference). I asked if she could she make sure housekeeping did our room next since we were tired from a long drive with hungry kids and she said housekeeping was really busy there were only 6 people working. That’s when I asked to talk to a manager Molly the manager did send housekeeping to the room, which was all I wanted but we had to wait in the lobby about 45 min for this. When you’ve been in the car over 7 hours you just want to check in and mind your we weren’t checking in early. It was hours past check in. Molly also offered us parking, dinner and drinks - which we appreciated and she explained their reservations had doubled between Thursday and Friday but it’s still frustrating when you spend a lot of time deciding what hotel to book and spend a lot on one and have these issues out of the gate. But Molly was great and her demeanor was appreciated when Asia was basically like oh well get a smaller room or wait not my problem. Unfortunately the issues didn’t end there. The couch bed had no linens which we didn’t realize until bed time. Luckily, they were brought quickly but the towels we asked for were not so the next morning we all had to wait to shower. The bidet didn’t work and our AC took forever to cool the room. Lastly our floor had no ice which we called about on night one and it was not fixed the entire trip. It was a hassle. The next morning the lounge was closed. We went to the front desk and were told it was closed indefinitely and given no reason. They nicely offered us breakfast vouchers but we missed out on other club amenities. Then the parking. Truly a disaster. We used our car once and then after the terrible experience in the garage just took Ubers. It took a while To get out of the garage because someone was stuck at the gate. We waited patiently and didn’t block the drive to go in but said good Thing we weren’t in a hurry. Well when we got back later that evening after with tired kids there were over 10 cars trying to leave and one car was stuck at the gate for over 15 min that we saw. A huge back up with no one from the hotel/residences/garage there to help. We tried to reach the hotel because again we had two young kids who needed to sleep. I’ve been to big cities and parking garages and never seen this. The car finally moved and other cars continued to block the drive so we couldn’t get in. My frustration was off the charts. Poor design in the garage and NO ONE there to help direct traffic or mitigate the situation. That same night our hotel phone was ringing at 11:45 pm and we can only assume it was the hotel calling that late waking our kids up. Finally on our last night we stopped at bar to get the kids a dessert on way back to room. They didn’t have one dessert on the menu. Not one. No apology. Also the indoor pool was out of order and outdoor pool was freezing in the morning when we wanted to use it before it got crowded. Alex at breakfast was great. Dinner was good. Service was ok and food was good. London at pool bar was great. Many many many many employees made comments about how the broken things or things going wrong were common and not out of the ordinary and said that’s just the Raddison. Even with the breakfasts or drinks given to account for all that went wrong I still think this is one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. We chose this hotel for the pool and the availability of a suite and while some employees were wonderful many were not and they could not make up for the sub par service and overall mediocrity of the hotel. Do not stay here. There’s too many other choices in Chicago.…
I am overall satisfied with my stay but some things advertised online were not accurate. Online mentioned a rooftop pool and bar when it is actually located on the 3rd floor I believe. Communication about some things needs improvement like the fact that the outdoor bar and its menu is only available on the weekends. The restaurant inside the hotel has really good food but the service is horrible and they lack concern for the well being of the customers. During my stay, I ordered the most delicious ribs but, as I was eating it, I kept chewing what I thought was a tough part. It was not until I spit it out that I realized it was a piece of plastic about 3 inches in diameter. I took another bite and experience the same thing but this time, the plastic was about a forth of an inch wide and maybe about an inch long. There is no telling how much of this plastic I actually ate. I showed this to our waitress and asked did the ribs come packaged in plastic before someone didn't take all the plastic off. She said they did not come in plastic (I didn't believe her) and apologized and said she would send a manager over to see me and he would likely take the food off my bill or give me a discount. I was in the restaurant for about another 2 hours before another waitress visited our table to take the order of an additional guest that joined us. She asked me if I needed anything else. I told her about the plastic in my food and said I had been waiting for a manager. She apologized and offered me a free piece of cake.…
Great stay, centrally located and the pool was awesome. We would stay there again. It was not “the cleanest” room. We were not too happy to be charged $30 to check in early. The hotel was close to everything.
Location was great! Outdoor pool was fantastic! Parking a little pricy but hey, it's downtown Chicago!! 10 minute walk to red line which was great as well. Real close to Grant Park, The Bean etc. Billy Goat burgers 10 min walk as well. Go to the lower Wacker original one!!
Great location, and lovely staff BUT we experienced a BIG problem: A/C! The unit in the rooms shows it goes down to 19C, but in practice it wouldn't go below 22C and was typically above that. As soon as we arrived, we noticed this. We called maintenance and the technician said it was working normally and we needed to "keep curtains closed" to keep sun off of room. This is crazy since we had a room with a sea view and the hotel is EXPENSIVE! That night we could not sleep since it was too hot. We had 2 rooms, and same story in both. At 5am I went to talk to reception and went back when manager came on duty. The manager seemed surprised that I was complaining, even though the Sleep Foundation says "most doctors recommend keeping the thermostat set between 15.6 to 19.4 C". We could not sleep, and the manager said that room temperatures don't go below 22C. This is crazy, what kind of hotel spends money on everything BUT AC? Lobby renovated recently, but not the AC apparently. I have stayed in many hotels (including 2 less than 2 miles from the Radisson, and much cheaper, where the units went down to 19 with ease and we slept great). In this Radisson, we spent a LOT of money on our rooms and we ended up leaving MORE TIRED than when we arrived. Uggh....…
The Radisson was great, but Hassan the concierge made the experience even better!! He was always so cheerful, helpful and kind!! It’s was nice to feel welcomed every time we entered and exited the hotel!!
This was a convenient, clean hotel with some great amenities. fabulous location. I would definitely return. The healthclub and outdoor lap pool are beautiful, a great resource for business travelers trying to stay active on the road.
We were having high expectations but below average experience. Poor reception, parking garage space is very tight. No towels at outdoor pools. Big expectations met with low service. For a star hotel, they can do much better.
Work or Play Great location 5 minute walk to the left is The Bean ,and CVS. Another 10 minute walk to the right is The River walk.If you just want to Relax /Recharge all the amenities you need are under 81 floors. Rooftop pool and jacuzzi, outdoor running track , comfortable quiet outdoor lounging areas, even gas grills to cook on. Restaurant/Bar, gym about half the size of Planet fitness. Indoor Half court B-ball. Sauna, steam room. The place to stay we loved it the view from our room was amazing. Asia made our check in smooth and efficient.
I got there late and this sexy and sweet guy named Jaekwon checked me in, and gave me and my friends a good deal on a executive suite upgrade! The doorman was wonderful help! The room was to die for! The bar was expensive but had wonderful drinks. My waiter was very flirty but was not the hotel staff I had eyes for sadly. The hotel was close to everything the club was a few streets down also the shopping district. I will definitely be going back!!
