Ramon T. at the front desk was amazing. Personable, warm and he remembered my name Everytime I saw him. In a world full of screens and process Mr. Ramon was a breath of fresh air. If you're looking for a place to return to - this is it. Views of the lake and city are on offer and there's little to no street noise.

Hotel's Favourite
Check in was a breeze on the app, was able to go straight to my room. Valet parking was a great service, even though the traffic was terrible in front of the hotel on the day of our arrival due to a music festival. The room was very large for a city hotel. It was very clean and had everything we needed. I did request a couple more blankets and towels, they were knocking on my door with those items almost before I got the phone hung up. Only downfall of the room was that the bath sink did not drain properly, not a huge deal. The free breakfast was very good and had plenty of options. The pool was a bit crowed due to three hotels sharing the same pool. Overall very nice stay, very nice & safe neighborhood and will make this my go to for Chicago.

What an amazing property. Everything from check in to check out was perfect. The hotel grounds and rooms are clean. Staff is top notch. The location is great, near multiple bus stops and near a red and green L line. This will be my preferred hotel when I’m back in the city!

Not good. Made reservations and paid for the room with Hilton points and credit card. On the day of check-in, I received an email confirming the room (Lake View), that it was paid for and that all I had to do was go to reception and get my room key. Not quite. The desk clerk said, no the room wasn't paid for and I could not have my promised lake view room, and I would have to pay then and there. Also no points would be credited, I had to pay the full pop/rack rate. The room was clean on check in. But the next two days they changed towels and nothing more. They didn't replace the complimentary coffee, did not clean the floors. The maid did the absolute minimum, in and out. At check out the desk clerk, different guy, would not listen to me when I asked him to correct the error, in fact he kept interrupting me. Claiming nothing I claimed about the reservation, points and room charge were accurate. He was an absolute jerk, in spite of the fact I talked to him calmly and rationally. The notice I got confirming the room mentioned a free hot breakfast! When I came down in the morning and asked where I might find this free hot breakfast, the desk clerk wrongly gave me directions to the Hilton restaurant where breakfast cost $11. The next morning I found the actual breakfast hall. The deck clerk had to have known where it was, instead he spoofed me. Another jerk. Hampton claims a restaurant in the building. The VU is on the 22nd floor. Before gaining entry I was frisked and "wanded" (metal detector) for weapons. Now that's fine dining! From the overpriced, uninspired menu I chose a burger and shrimp appetizer and a Modelo to wash it down. Both entrée and appetizer tasted so bad I couldn't eat either one of them. VU also charged a mandatory 20% tip. No big surprise, service was horrible. With only one other table in the joint the waitress disappeared I had to search her out to pay my bill.

The staff was great! I arrived late for my appointment and the previously booked room wasn't ready. Ramon at the front desk not only changed the room fast but also gave me a corner unit with a beautiful view. This is my second stay here. I'll be surely coming back.

I have previously trusted Hampton Inns during my travels across the United States. I booked into this hotel for the beginning of what turned out being a lengthy stay in Chicago due to a relative being hospitalized. I needed a nice, quiet hotel that would be a refuge and a place for me to rest and unwind after what turned out being the very stressful days ahead. However, this Hampton Inn was so far below my expectations that it has ruined the brand for me. I had booked for three days at this hotel due to it being relatively near the hospital where my loved one was in the ICU. After a stressful day of learning about the situations, making the travel plans, flying to Chicago, and taking a ride share to the hotel, I arrived at the hotel around midnight. I checked in, walked into my room, and immediately thought, "This smells like dog." I think everyone knows that smell -- the room simply smelled like dog. Yuck! I called the front desk and the employee came right up. She admitted that the room smelled like dog. I asked for a "pet-free" room. She told me that the hotel is "pet friendly" and they don't really have rooms dedicated to pets or pet-free. She said that the rooms are supposed to be "deep cleaned" after a dog has stayed in the room, but obviously that hadn't been done in the room I was assigned to. The employee apologized and quickly located another room for me. We checked it out and it didn't stink like dog. The next day, after a long day dealing with a very uncertain situation with my loved one at the ICU, I finally returned to the hotel. Shortly thereafter, I heard a dog barking non-stop. At first I thought it had to be from outside, but that didn't make sense since it was so loud. I went into the hall and quickly found out that the dog was in the room next door -- just barking its fool head off. I called the front desk and an employee allegedly went to take care of it. The dog stopped for just a short while, but then started up again. I called the front desk again and was told that the owners weren't in the room. They had gone out and left the dog in the room by itself. I was astounded. The hotel told me that leaving the dog in the room untended is OK as long as the owners put a sign (provided by the hotel) on the door that they are not in the room. That (sign on door), apparently, was the solution that the employee used after my first complaint. (I saw the sign myself.) What the actual ****? How is this going to help any situation? How can leaving a dog in a hotel room alone for an extended period end up being a good plan? How is this good for guests who don't have a pet, want a clean and quiet place to stay, and there is no solution from hotel employees for a dog barking non-stop while the owners are who knows where? So, if you don't mind staying in a hotel that is more like a dog kennel than a hotel, this is the hotel for you. Then you won't mind a room that smells like dog. Which tells you that some previous guest's dog(s) have been lying on the carpeting and maybe the furniture and bed and the room has not been deep cleaned to remove the odor of dog hair, dander, drool, piss, sh**, and all the other things that dogs smell like. Then you won't mind that, per hotel policy, other guests can leave their dog in the room alone -- to bark continually -- and nothing can be done about it until the owners return. So, if you have allergies to dogs, are fearful of dogs, have misophonia due to dog barking, or just don't want to sleep in a bed in a room that a previous guest's dog possibly befouled while being left alone by the owners, pick another hotel. My original reservation was for three days. I could hardly wait to check out. I would never ever stay in this hotel again and, quite frankly, won't ever stay in a Hampton Inn again.
