This place is better than the typical big city motel/motor hotel, it is older but not worn. It was clean, no smells and no bugs. Hot water pressure was good, and individually-controlled central air conditioning worked well. The room had a table with 2 chairs, a separate small desk with chair, and the room and bathroom were plenty big not cramped. Despite being on a main street, it was quiet other than the occasional siren, and there was no noise from rooms next door or other guests outside. It was under $100/night with free parking, a bargain for Chicago. The CTA Red Line train is a 15-minute walk away, and we always felt safe in this neighborhood. There is a Starbucks and White Castle Hamburgers down the block. A downside is that there is no online reservation system, you must call. You get no email confirmation, just a credit card receipt upon payment, which is required at check-in, along with a $5 room key deposit. It is a basic room: no coffeemaker, frig or microwave oven, but there is cable TV. There is no Continental Breakfast, although it is listed on their website and on a sign on their building. The room has a standard double bed (not King or Queen), so may be too narrow or short for some couples, and it is a bit uncomfortable but tolerable. There is no elevator, but 50% of the rooms are on the ground level. If you want to charge your cellphone on the nightstand bring an extension cord, as the only outlets are on the side walls. This motel is just fine for a short stay in Chicago, as long as your expectations aren’t too high and all you want is a clean and convenient location.…
This hotel was exactly what I was looking for - I could park my car there (for free!) and hop on the L (about a 15 minute walk to the red line) to access the city. The prices were definitely reasonable. The neighborhood didn't seem too sketchy. The staff was courteous and helpful. The motel is definitely on the older side and could use a touch up when it comes to painting and the beds. They also advertise free continental breakfast on the building, but they seem to have discontinued that.
Total flips of personality from the dude with the cool beard who was kind, personable, professional told me I was all checked in didn’t need to do anything else to this old dude with glasses was rude, crude, and unprofessional demanded I pay $5 dollars more to return the key. This even real???
This is a older motel but clean, quiet and affordable Located close to Lake Shore Drive without the expense. FREE PARKING was a big factor. Lots of restaurants nearby. Friendly staff as well. In the middle of the city but kind of off the main traffic flow.
Located in a trendy urban neighborhood. Rooms somewhat updated. Quiet, but no pool or other similar amenities. Well within walking distance to many good restaurants. 12 blocks to Lake Michigan, and close to Loyola University.
We stayed here twice (5 nights) during a trip to visit family. Don't be put off by outward appearances. This is an old fashioned motel but very clean and comfortable. The beds were extremely comfortable. Despite being near a busy road it is not too noisy at night. The staff are helpful and the breakfast has healthy options of cereal and fresh fruit (as well as the inevitable pastries). We would definitely stay again.
I was recently staying here for a wedding. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy. It was perfect for what we needed it for and we all slept very comfortably. Best of all, I had family things come up and needed to leave a day early, I did have advanced notice but Expedia fooled me into thinking I could get the last day taken off, but they never processed my request. I know that sounds bad, but the owner stood up for me and refused to charge me for the last night since I was checking out early n before 11am. He was so helpful, and knew that if he didn’t charge me for the night, they couldn’t force me to pay. Thank you so much Heart O’ Chicago and Jawed Imtiaz. You saved me almost $100. I really appreciate it.
This hotel is always clean and simple. The parking is easy and it is close to Andersonville. I use it when in the city and not wanting to drive home 25 miles. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, a bit dated, but comfortable roomy. You are so close the lake, and so many other things.
My second four day stay here it gets a little better each time. Absolutely wonderful staff, and very accommodating also. The rooms are nothing special but they are clean and have all the basic needs. The locationIs excellent ,very near public transportation, Starbucks, white castle, neighborhood bars. It may not be ideal Family, kind of close quarters. Also, don’t go there expecting a fancy breakfast it’s just not in there make up. You could easily spend double the money and not get that much more. Don’t choose a place because of its Low price and then complain about it because it isn’t fancy enough for you. This place is clean and adequate, If you want more you are going to pay more.
We were in town for Cubs game. It was clean, old style but everything worked and it was ok. It was cheap and overall comfortable. Free breakfast is just cheap pastries, milk and juice. Nothing to get excited about. If you want an ok place to sleep and take a shower, it's good for that. Free parking is good! We would stay here again for we just want a cheap place to stay if we are in town for a short time.
