I was delighted to be hosted in the HI Chicago. The hostel is very well centrally located. The breakfast is unbeatable. The staff is very friendly and working hard to make that place functions well. The dorm rooms are very efficient with hair dryer and...More
Clean, comfy dorms with nice touches such as a light, plug sockets and usb ports and shelf by each bed. The common area was great and made it easy to meet other guests. The free breakfast had a good selection including pastries, muffins, cereals, porridge,...More
This hostel is amazing. Very spacious rooms, very very clean facilities and friendly accommodating staff. The place is great and very safe for solo travelers.
Very close to train station and to downtown. There might be some noise from the trains passing by till mid-night....More
The one bad thing is that in many of the rooms, you are right at the level of the El-Train.
This can be a bummer if you are having trouble sleeping.
It's very close to the elevated train and also to the river.

Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of
the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.

There are private rooms, but I didn't stay in one, so I'm not sure if it is still a shared bathroom. There are shared bathrooms for each area of suites, so it is just across the hall and not a lot of people using each one.
