Travellers' Choice
The only all-suite luxury accommodations on Michigan Avenue are now even better - located in the heart of the city, the Omni Chicago Hotel is celebrating its recent renovation. The $11 million transformation includes a renovation and upgrade of all public space, and newly appointed guest suites, including 10 specialty suites. Inspired by Louis Sullivan's intricate sketches, the Chicago School's building materials of terracotta, limestone, steel and brick and the whimsy of modern sculptures synonymous with the city, the new Omni Chicago guest room is truly a reflection of Chicago's unique blend of modern and historical charm.

Third time I’ve stayed at the Omni for a conference, this time w my husband. It is a lovely hotel, well-located and the rooms are very spacious. Melissa the concierge is terrific - she hooked us up with amazing restaurants, which were varied and delicious! Highly recommend this hotel and Melissa the concierge.

My mom and I stayed at the Omni during our mother/daughter getaway last weekend. I checked many of the reviews beforehand and was pleasantly surprised with the number of recent positive reviews. Mine is no different. We arrived about 1:00 and were immediately able to check in. We were given a king suite on the 24th floor (of 25) that had a great view of Lake Michigan from afar. Room was spacious and clean. The staff always greeted us, whether it was the front desk or valet staff. We were provided with a few great restaurant recommendations as well. Great location to be able to walk most anywhere, or to catch an Uber and be in most neighborhoods in a reasonable amount of time. Would stay here again.

The service was great, always helpful with anything needed. The doorman was very helpful, and the location was perfect nice central location. The restaurant on-site was really good and the drinks were amazing. Only draw was no stocked refrigerators in the room so bring drinks.

Valet parking is $79 per night but we parked in the parking lot of the hotel opposite to Omni for $59 per night. Only one lady at the check in was helpful out of the three. The other two didn’t seem to be busy at all as they were just standing around but still didn’t really help in any shape or form. The good thing was, we got unlimited amounts of bottled water which was very handy in the hot weather. The suite we were first given had a wall panel on the floor with a gap in the wall and the room was freezing cold. There was also a smell of something burning. We immediately reported it to the front desk. They said they would send someone to check. We were moved to another suite next to it immediately. Our suite was spacious and neat. The hotel was very quiet which was brilliant. The decor is dated but otherwise it’s functional. I wouldn’t call it fancy. We didn’t see many people around. The location of the hotel is superb. There are so many places to eat. It’s sitting snug amidst restaurants and places to shop. There is an in house restaurant on the 4th floor where we had hot breakfast the next day although everything cans in takeaway containers. It was very empty but the food they prepared was delicious, albeit a bit pricey but that’s kind of expected in Chicago.

The Omni Chicago is advertised as a luxury hotel…it is DEFINITELY NOT! The location is excellent and the staff we encountered were pleasant. That being said…the hotel is very dated, housekeeping had stopped working due to union negotiations (had to call each day for clean towels, toilet paper, etc.), was told to leave dirty towels and trash in the hallway and someone would pick them up later. The restaurant was closed but you could get pastries in the bar each morning…$20 for three pastries! They charge a “destination fee” of $22.31 (includes tax) each day. When we inquired about the destination fee we were told it was because they would bring you “free water and cookies” anytime you asked for them. We weren’t told this at check-in so we never requested those items…we bought our water! NONE of this is mentioned when booking. WE DID NOT use a third party site. We booked directly with Omni. We paid $1,270.00 for a king suite for three nights and this did NOT include the destination fee or valet parking. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
