Arrived here after a long journey from London. The hotel was very reasonably priced for 2 adults and a child in a twin bedded room. Our room (415) was very clean and in good order.
The room had two good sized beds with crisp linens. There was a decent amount of storage and good lifting. The air conditioning was very effective.
Our bathroom had a tub with a shower over and a sink with a large vanity area. There were ample towels. Housekeeping is not daily unless you ask, but they do a thorough job on the scheduled visits.
On the 2nd floor is the breakfast area which ran through til 1030 and provided a very reasonable choice considering it was free. There was cereals, pastries, oatmeal, fruit, waffles and some hot items which changed each day. The lines were heavier the later in the morning you arrived but the staff were very efficient at replenishing the stock and turning round the tables for the next group.
There is also a indoor pool and an outdoor terrace to kick back after a days sightseeing!
The best asset of the hotel was the staff. The front counter desk were always super warm in their welcomes, very helpful, patient and polite. It made it a joy to walk in and be genuinely greeted each day. Shout out to Lydia and Innocence who went out their was to give local information, directions, tips and even provide forgotten toiletries without any drama.
I would definitely go back. Thank you .

My daughter and I recently visited Chicago to visit several colleges in the area. We arrived on Friday evening for a three night stay. After a quick check in, we deposited our bags to our room and left for a dinner reservation. Upon returning to our room, we quickly encountered an issue with the group in the adjoining room to ours. Our room absolutely reeked! I went to the lobby to inquire about another room. Ross kindly provided a new room and we moved within minutes. Our new location was also an adjoining room, but we never heard (nor smelled) our new neighbors.

The room was comfortable and quiet. We faced the back alley and could see the pool down below. My daughter used the fitness center daily and found it clean and adequate for her needs.

Breakfast in Covid times is odd and this was our first hotel stay in a year. I appreciated that there was an attempt to provide some healthy prepackaged items. Breakfast options included prepackaged boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, bagels, cuties, etc.

I always stay in the River North area when I visit Chicago. The location was close to the red line and tons of restaurants. Taxis and even Ubers were difficult to find (not normal for Chicago usually, thanks Covid) so being close to good restaurants and reliable transportation was extra important.

We enjoyed our visit and would come back when things open up more and we can really enjoy the city.

tinabinab, I apologize about the noise / smell from your neighbors in your initial room. I am glad we were able to remedy this quickly for your remainder of your stay. We ensure our hotel staff are following all Hilton CleanStay procedures at our hotel for the safety of our guests and are glad your daughter felt the fitness center was perfect during her usage. We miss our hot buffet breakfast just as much as you do and we hope it will return soon! But for now, our grab - n - go option is our temporary solution so we can still provide the Hampton Breakfast to our guest. We hope we are able to welcome you back in the future for a more flawless stay.

This is a perfect location for sightseeing in downtown Chicago. There are several Hampton Inns in Chicago, so definitely pay attention when booking. This one is well secured and maintained, we always felt safe. Innocence was courteous when we arrived around 9 am and found a room for us to check in early (for an extra $25, well worth it). We only had to wait until around 10:30am to check in. The breakfast buffet here is fantastic, two hot items every day and pretty much any breakfast item you can think of is available. Our room (911) was extremely clean and comfortable. As others have noted, this hotel is near a fire station, so bring a noise machine and/or earplugs and you'll be just fine. Some people are apparently irritated at the hotel's housekeeping policy, which is that you get housekeeping after your third night. I thought it was perfect and appreciate that Hampton is taking steps to protect the environment. We had plenty of towels and everything else for 3 days and never needed housekeeping. I would 10/10 stay here again.

The location of this hotel to the Grand red line station and great restaurants makes it desirable.
I had read some reviews about the street noise and closeness to a fire station are understated. The fire station must be one of the busiest in Chicago. Sirens 24 hours per day. On top of that, Dearborn Street has steel plates covering holes outside the hotel. Cars going over them make a loud noise, again 24 hours per day.
I had picked a room on the 12th floor on the opposite side of the hotel just to be as far from the street as possible. When we checked in, the staff was friendly and helpful. They upgraded us to the largest room in the hotel, unfortunately it faced Dearborn St. Room was large, clean and comfortable. But so much street noise it was hard to sleep.
We went down for breakfast, but it was so crowded, unorganized and messy we left without eating.
Bottom line, won’t stay there again.

MichaelcJ492PZ, Thanks for sharing your experience of your recent stay with us. Our team always strives to give the service our guests expect & deserve. I appreciate the comments as we are always looking for ways to improve the service, we give our guests. I am sorry that you encountered outside noise during your stay. The great thing about being in a dense urban downtown is the excitement of many people, things to do with a constant a hustle & bustle; however, with that comes noise. As with most hotels in downtown, street noise is something that will be encountered: Downtown Chicago is a dense, bustling city with lots of city noise including emergency vehicles that may be heard throughout all hours of the day. Most guests are not generally disturbed by the noise, but we realize that each person has their own sensitivity to it. For those light sleepers or to those not accustomed to city noise we do offer earplugs at the front desk. I am sorry that you were disturbed by the street construction during your stay. While the hotel does not have control over the street construction, we understand that this can be disturbing. The metal plates that are placed over the street are a temporary to allow the street to be opened after construction work has concluded for the day. These plates were temporary & have been removed by the City of Chicago. I am sorry that breakfast was crowded at the time you came down. We suggest that if you are looking for a quitter breakfast, to come down prior to 8am. We will share you feedback with our team so that we may improve the experience for all our guests. If you would like to discuss your stay with us further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally. Graciously, Ross Guthrie General Manager

This Hampton Inn is in a very good location in the River North neighborhood near a bunch of restaurants and a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile, but the price was very reasonable. However, I arrived at 2 pm and was told that although rooms were available, check in before 4 pm would cost $25, which I found outrageous since it cost the hotel nothing to let me check in early.

This gouging soured me on the property immediately, but it was otherwise pretty good. It's not a new building, but has been well-maintained and updated, with a nice, stylish lobby and comfortable dining area. The measure of a Hampton Inn is in the free breakfast and this one did not disappoint, with multiple waffle stations with many savory toppings, eggs, toast, pastries, oatmeal, cereal and quality juice and coffee.

There is a small pool and even smaller fitness center, both of which were a bit disappointing, though it is a small downtown property. The Hampton redeemed itself when I had a change of plans and checked out a night early and they did not charge me.

This hotel has been my home away from home almost every week for the last 6 months - and I wouldn't have it any other way! Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, especially Angelina and Marcus at the front desk, who go above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel is also in a perfect location with very nice, up-to-date rooms that are much larger than other hotel rooms around the area. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Chicago!

We have been staying at this Hampton for about twenty years usually coming for the holiday season. Most years we get a Diamond upgrade to a King suite as we were this year. Thank you! The hotel is walkable to Michigan, Rush St and Daley plaza for the Christkindlemarket. The hotel common areas have been updated recently and the lobby expanded with the elimination of the driveway valet and drop off area. Some reviewers complain about the fire station next door but it has never been a problem for us. Hot shower water can be a challenge at peak times as are the elevators. Please put microwaves in all the rooms and please also reconsider and resume the 24 hour coffee, tea and hot choc on the second floor or stock the rooms. These are minor issues. Hotel is great!

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with king bed for three nights in late January. Andrea checked us in. I imagine checking people in and out of a hotel all day can be mind numbing but Andrea genuinely made you feel like she had been waiting just for you to arrive. I was impressed by her attitude that I noted her name so I could mention it in the review. She also greeted us coming and going from the hotel.

The room was amply stocked with towels and washcloths. Room was clean and the furnishings were in good shape. The room was very quiet compared to others I’ve been in, no noise from adjacent rooms or the room above. Some people have complained about the fire station across the corner and the noise of the emergency vehicles leaving. We were aware of them, but it didn’t really have much of an impact on our comfort level. Only hear them once in the middle of the night. If you’re a light sleeper I’d bring ear plugs but otherwise it’s not like fire trucks are blaring past every other minute.

This isn’t really a negative for us, but if you want a dazzling city view you won’t get it at this property. But if you want to be close to Michigan Avenue and almost everything in River North this is a great location - pretty much in the center of it all. Great restaurants within one to three blocks walking.

The breakfast was adequate but appreciated. Pre-formed processed omelets, bacon, Turkey sausage. There was oatmeal, dry cereal, oranges and bananas (ripe, not green, yay!).

Would definitely return to this property.

This hotel had the potential to be amazing but missed the mark for me. Not only was it under renovation which I knew but Covid contributed to a lot of the negatives as well. Let me begin by saying the hotel staff were amazing. They were very polite and accommodating. They are the gold of the hotel. The morning before check-in, I received a text message asking what time we would be checking in and it was going to be around 10 then night. We were then alerted that they don't have any on-site parking and that valet wasn't available because of Covid. The parking structure was two blocks away and pretty expensive. On that same note, the day we left it was raining and storming and had to walk in the rain two blocks to get the car. We were not happy at all. The room was very nice but the couple that traveled with us asked to get a new room because there was hair in the bed and in bathroom. Ours was pretty clean but our pillowcases were dirty and stained and we called housekeeping to bring clean ones and a new roll of toilet paper because our room didn't have a fresh one and was almost gone on the first day. The walls are paper thin and I could the people in the next room's whole conversation and everything happening in the hallway. Although the room was renovated and the staff was nice, I wouldn't return.

True care is the most valuable asset in the service and hospitality industry. After a very stressful day, I arrived at the hotel expecting a clean bed to rest. Lydia greeted me with such true warmth and care that I felt my tiredness melt and my body warm up (50 degrees in June). Additionally, she offered us water and even cookies. The quality of the room was superior to the standard Hampton Inn. I loved the wasteless cream and soap dispensers and the fact that they were tampered proof. This particular hotel had a high quality of these amenities. The breakfast was adequate (and free!) for a quick bite before heading out. I would say it was above average for this line of hotels. In addition to the bread, pastries, and cereals, it had a warm menu of eggs, bacon, sausage, etc, depending on the day. If you don't like lines for your breakfast, pay attention to the signs that tell you the crowdest time and what to expect. The only downside of this location is that it is next to a fire station, so if you are not a fan of Chicago Fire, the constant whaling of the sirens during the day and night maybe not be for you. However, for a large city, I feel that sirens are unavoidable. I take the sirens for the amazing care of the staff and the sign around. Valet Parking is available within and out privileges ($65 while self-parking two blocks away is $55). The valet was understaffed for the weekend, but I didn't expect anything to happen fast in a big city. If you want to be in control of your own time, I recommend the self-park.
