I booked 2 nights for a medical conference and when I booked I picked 2 complimentary breakfasts so I knew I'd have to pay for the extra person with me...at breakfast they brought a bill for almost $60...but told me that the 2 breakfasts would be credited back to my card...then at checkout they refused...I paid $600 for 2 nights and this hotel is not worth it...it's old and there was a funny smell...the manager the morning of checkout was rude I told him I would never book there again and he said WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN? We'll here what it means your hotel is one of the worst Holiday Inns I've ever stayed at and the most expensive one...I will try my luck with a different hotel the next time I'm in town...Hopefully others learn from my mistake!
The reception desk, Paula, was very very helpful upon check-in. The property was spotless as were the rooms we occupied. The king accessible had the BEST roll in shower ever, water drained properly. The restaurant was wonderful for breakfast and the bar in the evenings was enjoyable. Lenore, CJ, and Christian were attentive servers. We have stayed in Naperville most visits to my family but this property was the best by far.
They have a hot tub suite, we've used it before and it was ok. This time it was awful, and that's putting it lightly. It was room 254, the door lock didn't work with our key so we took all our luggage back down to the front desk and told them. They came and tried their master key card--nope. They had to go back down to the front desk and get the metal key, we waited and waited. Well, that worked after I was able to pluck off the plastic cover for her. She said she would have maintenance fix it tomorrow. We got in the room and the lights had a flicker to them. We thought they may stop after a bit--nope. We went to hang up our clothes and the closet door came off the track. Oops, I forgot my phone charger in the car and we don't have a room key. I went back to the front desk, they gave me a key to access the outside doors. I got my charger and all was good. We thought. Typically a hotel room will give you 4+ pillows, especially a suite with a fold-out couch-bed--nope. So, I tried to call the front desk--nope, the phone doesn't work. Thank God I charged my cellphone, I used it and a new guy was on duty and I asked if he was aware of the situation, yes, they left a note. I told him about the light and the closet door. I also explained that I was calling from my cellphone because the room phone doesn't work, he had some button I was to press to get a line--nope, this phone doesn't have that button. He asked if it was a black or white phone--nope, it was black AND white. He said 'Oh, that's our old phone'. I couldn't help but laugh. He apologized. I asked for my pillow and one was sent up. So, we are sleeping and awoke to screeching in the pipes upstairs at 12 AM! Argh, that took a while to stop, probably after they filled their tub. We went back to sleep only to be awoken again by the same screeching at 1:00 AM! What else can happen? Well, we were then awoken by the draining of the tub that caused the screech. Thankfully that was almost soothing and put us back to sleep, besides the fact we were dead tired from having our sleep disturbed so many times. We went out to go to church on Sunday and when we returned we stopped at the desk to ask if the door was fixed and get a key if it was--nope. There was no maintenance on staff that day. They called someone to meet us at our room open the door for us, telling them they need the master key. She attempted to open it with her master key CARD--nope, it didn't work even though she attempted it about 50 times as we were trying to explain that she needs the metal key. She didn't understand due to a language barrier. After she called someone who spoke her language she got the idea that she needed to get a metal key and told us she would be right back. We waited, and waited. Finally, we did get in the room. Besides all that happened, the carpet smelled musty like it hadn't been cleaned in ages, if ever. When checking out the same woman was manager-on-duty that checked us in and she apologized up and down. She did give us a little discount and I explained that this was the worst hotel stay we have ever had and we have been to a lot of hotels. She said a manager would call me and hopefully give us a better discount or something--nope, no call. This was only one room in the hotel, but you can see how many problems there were and it was just ONE NIGHT! Make up your own mind as to whether you want to stay at this hotel or not. We won't be back, that's for sure.…
I am beyond violated at the fact that my vehicle was broken into. I did not receive any type of assistance from the staff after it occurred. There are no security cameras on the parking lot. They really need to invest in something so that guests can feel that their property is safe in the area.
Keep in mind that I am a certifiable Big City-o-phobe, and most of what I say about things in the big city need to be measured by that standard. Recently we needed to visit the suburbs of Chicago for a college visit. The Holiday Inn was recommended to us and we found an affordable room that was comfortable and clean. The bathroom and shower were great, and the main level was pretty nice, too. We were on the 4th floor, and the hallway looked like a recent revamp. The check in and check out went flawlessly, but we are accustomed to the usually 'free' breakfast, which was not available here. There was a restaurant available, but I like the mini-muffins and the Golden Malted waffle machine, so I was a little disappointed on that one. Overall a good value.
I stayed one night after attending an event in Wheaton. The front desk checked me in quickly. The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and room was quiet. I got a great night's sleep then headed down for breakfast before checking out. Breakfast is in the hotel restaurant and was delicious. (No complimentary breakfast). I was surprised when checking out to find out I had earned a free night! I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
We reserved a block of rooms for a family reunion and were pleased with the hotel's amenities and value for the money. Staff was helpful, both at the front desk and restaurant. Though unlike some other similar hotels, breakfast was not included; however, the overall price was competitive. This Holiday Inn worked well for our family's needs.
The Holiday Inn in Carol Stream was a few miles from my meeting in Wheaton, but not inconvenient. I had a tasty and fresh Chicken Caesar salad for lunch and a decent cup of coffee the next morning. The hotel is being remodeled and some kind of work was being done on the floor above during the middle of the night I stayed, which startled me awake! A few of my colleagues mentioned the same. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable and the staff were kind, happy, and helpful.
Stayed there after a company Christmas party. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Front desk friendly. Would stay there again. They have plenty of parking and restaurants around. Truck stop next door, but don’t hear any of the noise from there.
I am a IHG rewards member traveling more recently to complete a yoga certification in Wheaton and just checked out early this morning. I have had no complaints with my recent Holiday Inn stays until today. I realized after I check out that I accidentally left my MacBook Pro in the drawer of the nightstand. While I was traveling home and realized my error, I contacted the hotel directly from my IHG app on my phone to report the Macbook left in my room and to inquire if it was reported by Housekeeping. First, I was transferred 4 times to various people and had to repeat my inquiry each of those times. I was finally told by the staff member at the Carol Stream Hotel that I needed to leave a message with someone else who could get back to me Monday morning! When I asked if my Macbook was turned in, he told me that was not information he had access to, and that only Housekeeping had that information. When I asked to speak to someone in Housekeeping at 7:20pm, he told me that there was no one from Housekeeping in the building and that no one could answer me until tomorrow morning. So, if I had returned to the hotel today to retrieve my property, no one would be able to give it to me? That is completely ridiculous to me! This is my personal business laptop and needs to be located. I feel that a $1.5K item should be notified to staff that it was left in a room so the owner can be notified. Actually, if Housekeeping retrieved it from my room when I checked out early this morning, I should have been notified immediately. The hotel obviously has all of my contact information. Then, I could have returned to retrieve it. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service I received to say the least. I need to be traveling to Carol Stream/Wheaton often in the next several months and will consider staying at a different hotel simply because of this. Customer service is always so important! Unfortunately, your staff member did very little to help alleviate this situation other than transfer me to someone's voicemail.…
