We spent a wonderful holiday. The hotel complex is super nice with real jungle feel. The pool with bar, the restaurant, the beach bar are very nicely designed. Our room (jungle house) was very spacious and modern, stylishly decorated, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. To the beach it was a 2 minute walk and it is taken care of there everything (loungers, umbrellas, towels, lifeguard and bar with drinks and food). All in all, the hotel and the complex are at a very high level which is absolutely worth its price! Only the cost of excursions is quite high compared to local offers, so it is worth comparing. The service, both in the restaurant, at the bar, at the reception and the room service is to be emphasized. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The food (we had half board) was great - the best food we have ever eaten in a hotel!! For breakfast there was a large menu selection with local and international dishes. At the dinner with 4-course plus intermediate course you could choose from several options per course. The food was great, varied and of course delicious (regional products), even the ice cream is homemade. It was really like paradise, we can recommend it to anyone 😊

The service of a five-star premium hotel, the friendliness and the most sincere smiles of the hotel staff! They will prepare fresh juice for you from your fruit and bring you nuts and chips with your beer if you did not buy it on the hotel premises. At the same time, prices for drinks, fresh juices, and fruits are very adequate, not more expensive, and even cheaper than in the average cafes in Almaty. And I also want to mention Faiz, he works in a restaurant and is a senior waiter, and maybe an administrator. So he created for us the most friendly premium level service. The room is large, spacious, beautiful, in the style of tropical villas, a bathroom with a huge shower, with a shower in glass blocks. Terrace with access to a pond with water lilies, herons and crocodiles.

Our stay at Uga Jungle Beach was one of the highlights of our journey through Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into a stunning open wooden structure that combines a lounge, restaurant, bar, and jungle, creating a unique treehouse atmosphere.
We were pleasantly upgraded to the Beach Cabins, just a short 10-meter walk from the beautiful beach. The cabins were luxuriously equipped, featuring a comfortable king-size bed and a rollaway bed. The spacious layout included both indoor and outdoor shower areas, a good-sized closet, and ample room for our luggage.
The staff at the resort were attentive and always greeted us with a smile. The meals were delicious, with a diverse menu that catered to various tastes.
While the resort has a lovely pool, we preferred the nearby beach, which kept us from spending much time there. However, we did notice some tourists smoking in the pool area, which somewhat detracted from the resort’s environmentally friendly ambiance. It's not against smokers, but given the coastal jungle setting, we appreciated the fresh sea breezes more than the exposure to secondhand smoke or vapes.
We can’t wait to return to Sri Lanka and will definitely plan another trip to Trincomalee, including a stay at Uga Jungle Resort.

We stayed in the Uga Jungle Beach already last year September, we liked it so much that we came back this year and now stayed one week in a Jungle Cabin. It was great to see that most of the staff were still there and so lovely to see everyone again. We really love this place and the staff. It’s very quiet and peaceful and you stay in the middle of the nature with some wild animals around you. We specially liked that also the dog couple and some cats were allowed to stay there. The cabins offer all you need with a very comfortable bed. The outdoor rain shower is very nice and refreshing and everything is very clean. Special thanks to our two housekeeping boys Nilaksha and Sajith, who did an amazing job and fulfilled every wish for us. In general what makes the stay absolutely unforgettable is the amazing staff who care for you and you just feel so very welcome. Also thank you so much to Prabodha, Ashan, Sanoosh and Madhuwa who always offer the best service for the breakfast and dinner for us in the restaurant. We still miss you and your warm service. The food is so very yummy, you have already so many choices just for the breakfast. We only book the breakfast and choose for the dinner just one dish. If you book the half board they offer a 5 course set menu. The staff and chef also fulfilled every wish for us. Special Thank you also to the Chef Chandika which we still knew from the Uga bay Hotel and who specially cook the best butter chicken ever only for us. Just amazing!!!! During our stay there was the world tourism day and we were happy that we could take part at their celebration. We did the Christmas cake mixing with all the staff and guests in the morning and joyned the cultural dance show at the beach in the evening which was a very nice atmosphere and experience. Thank you also to the lifeguards at the beach for the very good service. We liked that the sunbeds and umbrella were specially prepared for you with fresh towels when you arrive at the beach. Thank you so much everyone for making this trip again unforgettable for us. We will definetly come back as soon as possible. Please stay as you are Uga Jungle Beach. Greetings from Germany and Colombo, Dinesh & Kristina

We stayed at Jungle Beach for 13 nights AI in August/September 2023 and we didn't regret it for a second. When we arrived, we were given a very friendly welcome and everything was explained to us, and we were also asked about food intolerances. In my case, gluten. The chef and staff were extremely attentive and fulfilled my every wish, menus were prepared especially for me. Every day they also asked if everything was OK or if there were any wishes. The rooms (Lagoon Cabin) were very spacious (even for three people) and were cleaned twice a day. There was always enough bottled drinking water (also for brushing teeth). The entire hotel complex was very clean and well maintained without losing its "jungle" character. We discovered new animals every day. The pool and the beach always invited you to laze around and swim, there were always enough fresh towels and loungers. The beach was a dream, partly black, partly white sand and invited you to take long walks on the beach. The staff in general were very friendly and accommodating, and they quickly learned our drink preferences. Due to the failure of our tour operator, we did two individual excursions through the hotel, which were simply great for us. Packed lunches for excursions and the journey home were plentiful and delicious, and you could choose the food beforehand. We would especially like to thank Gothami, who also surprised us with a wonderful, exclusive dinner at the stand.

Overview: there are many insects in the room (including cockroaches, worms, red centipedes...etc). Read more reviews because there are people who claim to have contracted even rats. The hotel does not live up to (anywhere near) the price of a 5-star hotel. Although it is probably the best option in Niraveli I do not recommend it if you do not feel like sharing a room with these insects. The price of food is very high for the island (since to the prices you have to add 18% VAT and also another tax that of a 10% of "charges and services".... a normal dinner with water does not lower than 60 euros (and from there on up). Then there is the drawback of crows (but that problem is not the hotel but it is all over this East Coast area): crows throw themselves for food and there are many. Otherwise, the staff's attention is spotless (very friendly and helpful). We had room lagoon chalet and changed to a beach chalet for the same price. The food is very good, good cuisine in general and breakfast is spectacular.

We stayed at Uga Jungle Beach from December 2024 to January 2025. The reception after the long journey was warm and the room was clean at all times. The food was fresh daily, as well as the entire team of waiters were in a good mood every day and very accommodating. The conversations with the beach staff were particularly entertaining and informative. Mith and Chandani were in a good mood every day, very too accommodating and always approachable with questions and could tell us about many animals in the suburb.
The Uga Jungle Beach I can only recommend as a stopover but also for longer stays a nice place.

The Uga Jungle Beach hotel is highly regarded for its cleanliness, with guests frequently complimenting the well-maintained rooms and beaches. The spacious rooms with unique outdoor showers, as well as the attentive room service, have received rave reviews. While the hotel's restaurant service can be slow at times, the staff's professionalism and personal attention are rarely overlooked. I would like to give special thanks to the staff, namely in reception. Miss,Gothami,Mr. Sachintha, and the restaurant: Mr.Dilshan, Mr.Mithila and Miss.Dharshi also beach boy Mr.Soyza. and all the supporting staff at Uga Jungle Beach.

I am visiting UJB after the opening in 2012. That euphoric feeling when walking in to ocean through the mystique mangrove forest patch and the spacious and fun beach bar is one of your highlights, UJB. While I did miss the feeling of exuberant joy being with mutually fanatical peers it was nice to be there with family and staff as well.
Exec Sous Prabath and Sampath are amazing individuals. Catering with a smile and a kind word with their staff Mithila, Tharshika, ever so accommodating Faiz, Sanoos, Dinith, Kasun and Jumariah we enjoyed each meal in perfect harmony. Mr Dammika and the F&B supervisor were always there to make sure the glasses were capped and linen and crockery were at hand. They are an asset to you.
I am a fussy foodie. Special words for the chefs who came up with the vegetable crepe and the various soups and the local green porridge : your work is fantastic. The presentations of each meal done with care and precision with tools of your trade are picture perfect. While I forgot that each meal is plated, wish we asked for smaller portions for our main meals. Some people would certainly be able to wolf down the main, but we weren't able to and felt terrible to waste food. 3/4 of the portion would have made us satisfied and full but not stuffed.
The room service crew were just wonderful. Thank you for allowing us to sleep in during the time you clean where you had to walk all the way back to do your work once we went out. Would be nice to have some floor mats in the room and a line for the wet clothes near the outside shower area.
Special thanks to GM, Mr Neranjan Morias for organising our rooms and the upgrade. We are 'þancful þu ert' to your generosity.
There's something about being in a place where the staff make you feel like you have come back home. Ask those simple questions to make it oh all right. You are lucky you still manage to hold on to that kind of people.
Best wishes for the upcoming season.

The hotel is following all the Covid 19 restrictions. Countries Micron counts are on the rise (Avg 1200 cases per day). But you can travel without restrictions if you are fully vaccinated.

Hi, Dawn! For sure you can! I recommend to rent a car with a driver, not only a car. We used Trinco Lanka Travel and was a really good experience. Good luck!

Pulmoddai- Trincomalee buses do operate in the road by the resort. You can take a bus and go to Trincomalee town and get a tuk from there to cover all the places you want to go. That would be cheaper. Or else you can arrange a tuk from the resort itself which will cost you much higher. Anyways it is hard to reach all attractions by public transport. So getting a tuk would be the cheapest solution.
There are more places to choose from in the Kuchchaveli area.
