A lovely complex of individual bungalows set amongst a surprisingly large area (145 acres) in rain forest overlooking the sea. Ideal for those that want to get away from it all. Each bungalow is well appointed, with a comfortable bed, dining area, bathroom and balcony. Being in the rain forest you may get the odd creepy crawly in the bathroom,... More

After a 3 week trip around Oz we chose Thala Beach as the 'restful' part of our holiday. It was perfect for a five night stay before heading back to the U.K. Quiet, peaceful, great situation with its own beach and forest trail etc. Plus the staff were always wonderfully helpful and we're so pleased we took their advice on... Wow, what an amazing place. We were looking for a hotel that was not in the city and quiet. We certainly found that in the Thala. From the beginning everything was taken care of. Everyone we encountered was incredibly helpful. I love the open air lounge and restaurant. The food although a limited menu was top notch! The pools..well just... More

Thala Beach Lodge was terrific in every aspect. And the service was best I've experienced anywhere. Upon arrival, we were given a brief tour by Rose (who could quite possibly be the nicest person in the world!), our bags were taken to our bungalo, and our car parked so we could relax and enjoy a drink in the reception area... Thala Beach Lodge is in a beautiful, secluded location on a steep hillside. We stayed in Room 1. It was a very nice room and included a view of the water through the trees. The pathway from the reception area to our room was paved and lighted but, the cane toads still managed to startle us as we walked it... More

We stayed for 5 nights in December and it was really lovely. We did one of their package deals with a rainforrest trip and a great barrier reef tour and with those it worked out really reasonaly priced for what we got. We still chose which company we wanted to go with and the tours were great, would have been... More

I took my Mum to Thala Beach as a Christmas present in the last week of Jan 2013 for 2 nights in a jungle walk bungalow. It was as ex tropical cyclone Oswald was starting to move south. This meant torrential rain the entire 2 nights we were there - However, this didn't matter as the staff were outstanding. We... More

We stayed 3 nights in Thala and we thought €850 is way too much for 3 nights without breakfast. Rooms are clean but old fashioned, food was too expensive for quality offered and in comparison to other hotels services were limited (no free guest washing machine, no free transfers to port douglas and/or airport). Airco in room were incredible loud... More

We thank these guests for their praise re our cleanliness and beautiful surrounds. We are disappointed they didn’t see value in the travel option they chose – we have many packages catering for all tastes and budgets, one including transfers may have been more suitable for them. We don’t provide washing machines (nor promote such) as we find the majority... More
