It's a really good idea to go to Mdumbi. After unfortunately being unable to get to Bulungula Lodge, I chose to go to Mdumbi instead to seek another eco-style backpackers wild coast experience. The place really is phenomenal and I am SO happy with my decision. Yes, it is off the beaten track and you do have to drive very...

We stayed at mdumbis for two nights and it really is an amazing hostel to stay at. Give yourself plenty of time to get there if you are driving, the road up there is intense, but so worth it! The place itself is beautiful, a short walk from the beach and amazing views. The rooms are simple but lovely, and...

Mdumbi Backpackers and its staff is undoubtedly one the Wild Coast's top gems! The accommodation is neat, clean and comfy. Their relationship with the local community is admirable- most of the activities are run by the locals and you pay them directly. Gorgeous swimming beach. Kayaking, massages (at great prices!) and caving were highlights. Madeleine was fantastic in hosting us...

Breathtaking views, sincere friendly staff, good food and tidy accomodation. The outside showers and a massage are a must! Take a walk to the point for sundowners and enjoy a funfilled Saturday with dancing laughing and friends. Chilled vibes for those who like to take time out and read in the hammocks.

Mdumbi was the highlight of our road trip through the Wild Coast. We originally planned to spend three nights there and ended up extending our stay to nine nights. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: 1. Maddy is like a fairy god mother, her hospitality was amazing. Her beautiful aura will make you want to stay here forever 2....

This was my first visit to the wild coast and we were so lucky to have discovered this gem! We camped for 3 nights, clean and neat ablution facility and well equipped kitchen. We snorkeled in the rock pools and spend hours on the beach. We will definitely go back for more!

If you're looking for a laid back, community place right on the Wild Coast...look no further. Such a beautiful location and such lovely people. I would highly suggest the kayak & local village tour. This place does so much for the community so you know you're doing right by staying here!

Very nice and quiet place, settled in the most beautiful surroundings on top of a hill, overlooking the sea and beach. Perfect for a little get-away from the wifi-concerned travelers and party people!

This is by far my favorite backpackers place in the world! They are truly involved with the local community and the other way around. On top of that the place has a great vibe, looks awesome, cool staff and the location is amazing. Beautiful beaches with nice surf almost entirely to you self. Also some great activities (kayaking and nice...
