Detailed Reviews
After spending more than a year indoors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we finally ventured out for a short weekend vacay. Owing to distances and the farmer protests at various places, we decided to go to Haridwar and Amatra stood out as the only viable choice due to its amazing location and facilities.
The resort is nestled in the quiet village of Shyampur, about 9 km away from Haridwar city. The access is via a narrow village road but once you're in the resort premises, its a totally different world. There are villas with all kinds of rooms. We booked a garden loft which includes a tiny integrated garden.
This allowed us to get a bonfire organized, which cost us 1200 bucks. This was totally worth the investment as the resort provided us with a ton of logs that provided a roaring fire for a good 4 - 5 hours into the night.
The service is decent and generally helpful. The restaurant, perched like a machaan provides decent food. The rooms are good but can do better with equipment maintenance. For instance, we noticed the Do not disturb switch is broken and the flush sometimes required an extra knock to stop the water flow after being used.
There are monkeys all over, owing to the location and the staff carry air guns to shoo them away. However, if you're outdoors, be aware of their presence.
The resort offers a ton of outdoor and indoor activities which is great if you're travelling with family or a large group. From cycles to ATVs, rock climbing, archery, croquet, badminton and many more activities, you're bound to keep busy and enjoy your stay.
The pool is excellent and often ends up becoming the preferred swimming pond for resident swans that grace the resort. Since the Ganges flows right next to the resort, you can venture out and not only enjoy its presence but can also take part in the ritual Ganga aarti organized every evening at sunset. The resort can also organize dedicated pooja activities upon extra payment.
Rooms have an oil radiator which proved extremely valuable to us and made the stay comfy.
Venturing out to the city is easy. The main highway allows you to enter Haridwar and from there one can go straight to Har ki Pauri car parking which takes about 5 minutes.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Amatra and would love to come back someday.

We booked the luxury villa with 3BR as we were 6 adults and 4 kids. We checked in to Villa no. 7. It has a great location. Wonderful view of Ganga from the first floor room.
The property offers lot of activities and keeps everyone engaged. The lawn is a blessing and from there is a small walkway to the Ganga tributary. The Ganga water was so clean. We collected some and there wasn't even 0.1% sedimentation.
We booked breakfast and dinner in our package as we came for two days and had plans to visit Rajaji National Park.
The service was quick. Every bed room and the living room has oil heaters.
The outside sitting area is blissful. We asked the hotel to organize bonfire. They supply wood and kerosene which you can actually use for atleast 3 days. The wood given is very good quality. They charge 1200 for the same.
The food in the restaurant was nice. Low on salt and spices. Though one or two chinese dishes in the buffet were very spicy. My son particularly liked their cold coffee during breakfast so on request one evening they made him a small glass in the evening.
The weather was very cold and foggy during our stay. If there would have been little more sunshine we would have enjoyed the outdoors more.
And yes, our villa had complimentary PlayStation access. Kids made full use of it!
BEWARE of the monkeys there and don't take them lightly...Twice monkeys managed to get inside our villa to create havoc. The staff was very kind and cleaned up very well.
And yes, the kitchen has no utensils. Just a microwave. So carry your pots and pans if you need to.

Very nice stay here for two nights in October 2020. We wanted to go for 'mundan' of my baby in a resort near Ganga ji which is a situated in a peaceful location and that's what Amatra is. Hotel staff arranged Pandit Ji and Barber on direct payment basis which solved my purpose. There are total 12 villas, each has one garden view room at ground floor and two rooms at first floor overlooking garden or Holy Ganga river. Some of the rooms have also got jacuzzi in balcony. Best villa to stay is villa number 7 followed by 6 and 5. Rest of the ones are away from river and doesn't provides the river view. River was crystal clear and had a direct connect with this resort. Resort has got multiple activites to do like badminton, archery, etc. Including pool overlooking the river. They have also kept done benches with tables overlooking the holy river wherein you can order and take your evening snacks. They also conduct Ganga Aarti every evening. Food here is awesome (I'm vegetation) and timings are also good.
The only two negatives were - 1) very narrow approach road for last 1 km as it enters a village (allows only one way traffic although it's rare) 2) monkeys are big menace here. You have to keep doors closed (spoils the enjoyment of terrace including jacuzzi)

Worst property i have even been to. There is nothing good worth mentioning about this property. It is better to stay at any AC dharamshala than preferring this resort. We stayed here for 2 nights and faced multiple issues listed below:
1. Worst Staff: Starting from waiter to General Manager everyone is least bothered about you and your experience. Staff is very ignorant and instead of multiple complaints we saw no improvements in their behaviour. I have not seen this kind of poor training in any resort or hotel.
2. Restaurant: You will get the full roadside dhaba feel in their restaurant with houseflies, ignorant waiters and chefs, super spicy STALE food, no operational AC, broken doors and all the dishes which were meant to be served hot were served cold and vice versa. Moreover, you don't have any option to eat from outside since it is located far away from city, and swiggy and zomato do not provide service at this location.
3. Rooms: 15 years old AC in all the rooms and lobby, broken wardrobe, staff enters in your villa and room without knocking, with their own master key as they have their own personal store room within your villa. There are about 20-25 doors per villa half of them is key locked and dont have latches and you are always scared that some staff member will enter in your room/villa at any time. Do not expect any privacy for you family here.
4. Swimming Pool: Poorly maintained, although they have separate pool menu but they do no provide snacks, drinks or anything pool side.
5. Game Room: Apart from table tennis and Fooseball all the games(including board games) were either broken or chargeable.
6. Other visitors: We noticed everyone including us was pissed off by their service and preparation and it felt like living in a refugee camp where after every meal all the visitors were standing in queue at reception to lodge their complaints basically pleading them to provide basic stuff and services.
7. Experience: Horrible experience. Only come here if you want to torture yourself.
I will not recommend this property even if they invite visitors on all paid vacation.
Above listed points are only jist of what we experienced there is more to it on which i can write essays.

I stayed in Apr mid this year for two nights 3 days
Its my third visit to this property and first one now since it changed name from Aalia to Amatra.
Mgmt team really needs to gear up to keep good standards of services for their guests
Cleanliness , hygiene is a big problem - common areas like restaurant , pool area are not kept well
Bar area is closed , spa is closed , they have no stock of drinks
Also in rooms there is shortage of towels, in general items like hot water kettle is broken , tea mugs are broken, no tea/coffee sachets , bathroom floor is dirty with stains seems not taken care for a long time, bed mattress are in terrible state - not comfortable at all , Sofa in common area of villa at entrance its linen is full of dust and very dirty , same in room linen of wooden furniture is dusty , dirty and smelly. There was sepage issue in my villa room too
Food quality is good and restaurants team is very friendly and trying their best to keep guests entertained with prompt food serving, Mr Rajesh and team are doing a good job on this front, however floor , cleaning in restaurant floor is not good . I had to complain on my day 1 of trip a lot.
It was disappointing to see drop in facilities and quality of services compared to previous times when it was named Aalia
Certainly nothing in name of luxury but its even not value tor money i paid for 2 night stay
I hope this property maintains standards it was known for.

1) AC stopped working in the middle of the night in an upgraded room
2) They make tall claims but basic things such as WI-FI are not available
3) Only 1 Towel was provided in each room. No hand towels either.
4) I called the reception 5 times and still wasn’t attended to. After which I walked upto the reception myself and still they were unable to provide me with something as basic as a hand towel.
5) The garden sprinklers were placed in the middle of the path made to access the river beach and they were sprinkling foul smelling water.
6) Breakfast wasn’t fresh. Bread pakoras were rotten and despite identifying it and requesting the chef to remove it from the buffet, they continued to place it there at the cost of everyone else’s health.
7) Electricity kept going in and out.
8)The drainage system in the bathroom was very poor and the water didn’t go down the drain.
Overall I’d just like to say that they overcharge at 10k per room per night and deliver nothing. Most pathetic experience ever. Don’t be fooled by the photographs as service is just beyond disgusting.

Let me start from the beginning, we had made an reservation after few days tge hotel cancelled our reservation and gave an excuse that the credit card didn’t work
We booked again and by now the reservation of the rooms became more costlier.
They are charging a bimb but services are very poor.
No welcome drink
Rooms are too small with no amenities, not even a tissue box is available.
We waited for towels for more that 20 mins at the swimming pool
House keeping service is too slow.
They took an hour to give us WiFi passwords had to follow up with them twice.
Food layout is also not great and the taste of food is not at all good.
We had ordered French fries which mentioned that it will be served with two dips, when we actually got the order of had only tomato ketchup, had to call the kitchen again and then they sent the second dip that was just plain mayonnaise.
Overall not very happy with my experience and would not recommend people to come here.

We went there on our Honeymoon in mid of Covid scare. The property is isolated from the city and hence safe during these scary times.
1) Good Food
2) Good Scenery
3) Good Privacy
4) Good Hygiene
5) Good everything a couple would want
The only word of caution is to reach there before 6 in the evening, as after dark, Google map takes you through crazy lanes, so use common sense as well while going.

Had read some glowing reviews of this property and that's what got me to make a reservation for 2 nights. It was a totally blocked bridge over the Ganga barrage that set things off in the wrong direction. It took many a turns through rural roads (and many a stop to ask locals) - to find this location. Signages put up by the hotel were few and generally not helpful. The "reception" was a small room full of a group of visitors arguing about which cottage they booked and what they had got. We were largely invisible to the staff till we started making a noise some 10-12 minutes later. Then a waiter appeared with a welcome drink and a manager started querying what the issue was.
The rooms were ok and parts of the floor tiles were broken (they did send staff to fix them when we were ready for a nap). Each wing has 4 or more cottages and a common passage connecting them. A nice touch was a private mini green space one could open the bedroom sliding doors to access.
The overall property is not that big and the cottages are jammed up in the front half. The rear is more spacious and has a large garden space leading up close to the Ganga River. The pool and access to the river are probably the best parts however one can just about dip toes into the fast flowing water. Would have been nice to have some safety ropes tied there for the guests.
Dining is right above the reception area and the only access is a rather steep staircase on the outside. It's not ideal for older folks or for anyone with disabilities, especially in rainy weather. The next best option we were told was to order the food in the room.
Most meals in the package are buffet style however ordering hot breads or anything not on the table can take forever to arrive. Waiters just seem to forget what was asked for and need to be reminded and nudged.
The highlight of evenings is a Ganga Aarti conducted close to the river. Guests take turns to hold and swing the lit up lamps against the backdrop of setting Sun.
Amatra tries to position itself as a high end resort however falls quite a bit short of expectations. A one night stay is probably fine to get away from the din of Delhi and even Haridwar - anything longer and one better be prepared to find things to do

The image that Amatra by the Ganges conjured up was totally dispelled, when one entered the resort. No towels, poor drainage in the bathroom , dirty and stained floors and glass panes. Despite several requests for water on a
hot day, there was simply no response. The service was simply not person centred . One expects that at such prices, the basics such as hygiene, clean toilets and bathrooms and towels are a given.
