Tip : book early enough - gets fully booked very quickly! I was expecting a dated hotel with a nice view. But it is much better than I had expected. The view is breathtaking. The hotel itself is old (historic is the correct description) but does not need renovation. It looks very good, is very clean and is in great... More

This is a very interesting hotel. It has some of the most beautiful views of both the Lake and Waterfalls. I requested a room with a lake view and was given a room with both a Lake view and a Waterfall view. The only problem was the lake view was blocked completely with a tree. The Waterfall was amazing so... More

I had visited Lake Brienz previously by boat and it stopped off at Giessbach and I visited the waterful it is difficult to miss the magnificently restored hotel so this time around I booked for two nights and purposely picked the Forest view not only was it cheaper but I thought the Falls view may have been noisy(?) If your... More

Recommendation: visit Giessbach by ferry as a day trip, and avoid staying at the hotel. It is an overpriced tourist trap, and a total disappointment. The "natural pool" is a marketing spin for an old swimming pool that they do NOT maintain. It has murky green water and flies, and a broken pipe spewing water for effect. There were lizards... More

I'm talking about the terrace restaurant only: Apart from the excellent view to the lake, the mountains and the waterfalls, the selection of the plates is very poor. The plates are expensive for the quality you get. You can judge yourself, if the price of a bottle of 1 lt. water (CHF 12.-) is appropriate or not. For me it... More

Thank you very much for taking your time to give us feedback concerning our terrace restaurant. The prices are similar to our competitors and are necessary to cover the high costs of both purchase, labor etc. in Switzerland. On the other hand, we apologize for the rather slow service, which as you mentioned was a result of the busy day.... More

We stopped for lunch for a break while on a lake cruise. The hotel location is stunning, well above the lake and facing the several hundred foot falls. We ate on the patio on a very pleasant day. We both had salads that were very fresh. Service was attentive, although the wait staff was all distracted about whether the dark... More

Don't let anyone tell you that this is a premiere or luxury hotel. It is in a magical setting for sure and has a lovely lobby but the quality of the rooms and service are mediocre at best. It's worth a visit for the view of the thundering falls and the funicular ride but not worth staying at for more... More

We stayed one night in a very comfortable forest view room. It was raining the afternoon we arrived so the lake was fogged over and we had no idea of the true spectacular beauty until the next morning. The Grandhotel Giessbach is an amazing place. There's an "old world elegance" throughout the entire facility. The grounds are majestic! We especially enjoyed having breakfast overlooking the beautiful Giessbach Falls. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and the wait staff at the restaurant was incredibly professional.
