I've been visiting this park since I was a teen. There's a lot to do & tons of wildlife. The cabins were always nice & clean. Not so this time. I had fun with my family, but it was subpar compared to how I remember it. The cabin floor was dirty, the stove was broken, the screen door handle was...

This park is located in the middle of nowhere. Even Verizon has slow, spotty text ability but no data, so if the weather is looking sketchy to begin with, bring a weather radio. It rained while we were on the swamp and one of the nights we were there, but we still had a blast! The sites in the first...

This was actually our second time camping here. The park is out in the middle of no where. Just keep driving until you can't drive anymore and then you are there. We have camped at the Pioneer site with our church twice. There are cold water showers and porta potties at the camp site. The skeeters can be pretty bad...

Rented two cabins for family and friends - all guys, 3 generations; ages from 3 to 68. Cabins not fancy at all but not bad for a state park. Reasonably clean enough for guys fishing trip. Also rented two boats for day. Staff was helpful in making reservations and offering advice for first timers. Enjoyed boating in swamp and beauty....

We stayed here for two nights on our way back home from Disney, looking for a base to explore the swamp and some quiet after the Orlando crowds. The cabins are basic but clean & updated. Recommend renting a boat at the marina and getting our to explore - lots of wildlife (dozens of alligators) and friendly park staff to...

Had a great time kayaking over the weekend! Highly recommend, lots of wildlife and gorgeous views. The rest area about 3.5 miles in was much welcomed too! There is a bathroom and picnic bench out there on the dock as well. Be sure to bring snacks!

I had a terrific time exploring this swamp in late 2011. I loved seeing all the wildlife and I was particularly charmed by the otters. The alligators did not creep me out until they disappeared beneath the murky waters and only one of us knew where the other was. I found the staff friendly and and the canoes and kayaks...

We were in our RV and had a great time. The place is in a very remote area about 1 hour from I75. I enjoyed every minute of the 2 day stop over while on vacation. Bring your food and supplies with you due to it being 17 miles to the very small town. The guided tour is great with...

Me and the wife stayed in a cabin for one night. The cabin was surprisingly nice. Very roomy, clean, and reasonably furnished. You need to bring all your own shampoos and such. Also please note that you can not buy any food within 15 miles so prepare well. We had two bedrooms with two beds each and the only issue...

“Cabin #4 had great sunsets and deer walking through in the mornings.”

“The park reservation system does not work well at all: after being told both on the web site and on the phone that all the cottages were full and unavailable, we discovered on arriving for a day visit that most of them were empty and available! We heard that other visitors have had similar experiences at other parks as well.”
