We had a family reunion and everyone stayed in the cabins and my husband and I stayed 2 nights in the Lodge. Except for some Ac/heating issue in Cabin 9, the cabins are great! Lots of room for people to hang out (couch is comfy though chairs not so much). Kitchen had almost everything we needed, the bathrooms were renovated.... More

The renovated lodge was very comfortable and service was excellent. The rooms are nicely done with beautiful views of the mountains. The entry was delightful with doors that automatically opened outward to welcome you inside, while a gas fireplace warmed you up. The bathrooms were large with double sinks, makeup mirror, towel hooks and big, fluffy, absorbent towels. And the... More

Recently, I visited Amicalola Falls and Lodge, Dawsonville, GA, USA. The falls is the highest falls in the US east of the Mississippi. Located in the mountains near the end of the Appalachian trail, one is able to see the beautiful colors of fall if they go in the autumn when the season changes. There are trails for hiking, biking... More

We travelled to the Amicalola Falls Lodge to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. We were a little put off by the exorbitant rates but felt it would be worth it. First of all, the staff couldn't be nicer. The turn offs consisted of limited television channels, a toilet that sounded like a rocket ship when flushing, poor lighting in bathroom,... More

Spent two nights at the Lodge. Overall very pleased with the stay. Room was very clean and much nicer than I expected. Amenities include lighted makeup mirror, nice toiletries, iron and ironing board, nice size area to hang clothes, flat screen TV, and our room had a mini square fridge. Not sure if this is new - I noticed a... More

We stayed here a few years back and noted then that the place needed updates. We were happy to see that the place has had some updates and you now get a well decorated hotel for the somewhat steep price you pay. Only other update I would like to see would be a fridge and a microwave, other than those... More

Second visit in last thirty days. Sunrise view from 3rd floor room beautiful. Room confortable. The grounds are peaceful to walk at night. Wine on the woods swing relaxing and quite. Miss the lights on path that were there when the Lodge first opened. The personel are wonderful. They go the extra mile. Down side the buffet. Eat in Dahlonega.

This was a beautiful place to visit. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our older kids did the zip-line and loved it. Lobby was comfortable and the view was incredible. We had a loft room on the 4th floor. Perfect room for families with kids. Only negative would be no refrigerator in the rooms. We were prepared for this as we... More

This was a last minute stay after my other plans fell through. I tried to book online, but there was no availability. However, when I called the lodge inquiring of any availability, the gentleman was really nice and so helpful. The lodge was almost full, but he was able to get me a king room for 2 nights. The lodge... More

I have visited three times (about 45 minutes from my home). Lunch was buffet and only fair. My server was quick and courteous. But the VIEW!!!!!. Lodge has a spectacular vista from the dining area with two terraces for sunning in cool weather in a sweater or coat (hey, it's the GA mountains folks.) The highlight of the area: Amacolola... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
High in the North Georgia Mountains is Amicalola Falls State Park home of Amicalola Falls Lodge. Named after the Cherokee word for “tumbling waters” Amicalola Falls is one of the most popular state parks in Georgia. The park’s namesake is the 729-foot falls: the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. The park is also the start of the 8-mile approach trail to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the 2,150-mile Appalachian Trail. The Lodge was built in 1990 by the State of Georgia, with 56 guestrooms in the main lodge and 14 cabins along with a gift shop, meeting space and a mountain view restaurant. The lodge rooms vary from standard hotel rooms with 2 double beds, loft suites that can sleep 6, to king bed suites with private balconies. The Lodge also is home to The Maple Restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The Lodge rests on 829 acres with on-site activities that include stream or pond fishing, as well as more than twelve miles of hiking trails, several centering on viewing the spectacular 729-foot waterfall. Amicalola Falls Lodge features more than 4,000 square feet of meeting space that can host groups and social events consisting of up to 150 people in traditional meeting spaces as well as a unique outdoor veranda setting. The Lodge’s spectacular view, peaceful setting, and exceptional service make it a destination not to be missed while in the North Georgia Mountains. ... more   less
