My colleagues and I dashed through Darien for a one night business trip, and were fortunate that Zack was able to accommodate us with three private rooms. They were lovely, comfortable, and had that fantastic character that only truly old homes can boast. We wish we had more time to relax on the comfortable wide porch, swim in that appealing...

Zach and his wife are so friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were outstanding, cooked when you are ready to eat! The accommodations are not for 'city slickers' but rather for those looking for character and charm, which is exactly what we wanted. We stayed in the separate room away from the main house, very private and cozy. The bed was...

Open Gates in Darien was during a 2 week roadtrip in US the place which remains strongest in memory. It was a wonderfull peacefull experience - the BB is quiet and full of athmosphere. Room, bed etc. was fine and Zach was a great host. His "Grits-breakfirst" might be a bit experimental to some stomachs, but I'm sure he can...

Two nights at Open Gates were perfect for basing out of Darien to visit Sapelo Island. This is an inn. It's in a beautiful old home. It's charming, it's quirky, it's not a cookie-cutter Hampton. We really enjoyed it. The B&B is located a convenient 8 miles from the Sapelo Ferry. Our room was comfortable, clean, and restful, and the...

I couldn't have said it better myself! We really are the perfect getaway to hit the reset button and unwind. We are so glad not to be a cookie cutter, unless it's when I'm making them fresh daily. I truly hope that everyone can make it to Darien at least once in their lives. It's quiet, quaint, and now "quirky",...

Our recent stay (two nights) at Open Gates was just what we ordered and more. Zach is a wonderful host and chef and accommodated our late arrival. We met terrific locals at the breakfast table our first morning and learned a lot about the area. This is one great old house in a terrific little town that you don't want...

Oh yes, the local "Breakfast Club" on Wednesdays is getting quite the review as well. Although I have only lived in the area approximately 3 years, I have had the pleasure of being able to serve breakfast to the public. It's fun and eclectic and there is always something new that I learn from the group about the area. Thank...

The rooms all appear spacious and well furnished. The room we stayed in on the first floor probably had one of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in and to top it off Zach is a generous and kind host. You can't go wrong here

Had a wonderful stay. Delicious breakfasts. Great hospitality. Nicely decorated room. Owner was kind to my high energy two year old. Accommodated early trip to Sapelo Island. Local area has great fresh seafood. Highly recommend.

Oh yes little Gabriel, what a ball of energy! Although we don't have young children to often, I'm glad that there was plenty for him to do, whether it was the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center on Jekyll Island, or the Fort at the Fort King George State Park area. Also thank you for joining us for our "Love our Library"...

The Open Gates is a great B&B off the beaten track in a small town. Zach is a great and very friendly host. The B&B is a beautiful old house located in a quiet area. It is well kept and we liked it a lot. The only slightly negative point is that the electricity plugs were old, too, so that...

Thank you! Our first guests from Switzerland! How cool is that?! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and that you had such a nice time touring our town. As with any old home, we face a few challenges here and there, but we are always adding to the list those things that we can improve...

The house and area are lovely, frozen in time. Zach made us amazing crepes that deserved to be in a 5 star restaurant. Worth the trip from Savannah, take a kayak in the backwater and explore Sapelo island, and the nicest part was this home. really perfect and amazing and great value. Zach is a sweetheart as well, made us...
