We booked a stay at the Villaggio Minerario di Rosas without knowing much about it, we just went on a hunch. It turned out to be superb. We arrived late in the evening and had asked the manager to leave some food and drinks in the cottage, which was organised. In fact, there was far too much but this is an indication of their willingness to make your stay comfortable. We paid the tab from the supermarket when we checked out and it was extremely reasonable. The welcome here is genuine and warm and the facilities are very good. We stayed in an ex-miners refurbished stone cottage, with bathroom and kitchenette on the ground floor and bedroom in the loft. The on-site museum is excellent and there is a guided tour of the whole site for only 3 Euro each if you are a guest. The ex-miners wives cooked one evening and Mayor of the village joined us too. It was a delightful evening and the food was excellent and abundant. The location is tranquil, in the morning you could only hear... More
