Chateau Elan garners mixed reviews, with guests praising its picturesque location and tranquil atmosphere alongside elegant decor. However, some visitors have voiced concerns over the value proposition, citing overpriced services and amenities that don't meet expectations.
While the hotel offers a variety of dining options and a spa within its beautiful grounds, experiences with room cleanliness and maintenance leave room for improvement. Service quality appears to fluctuate, with reports ranging from friendly and attentive to slow and unresponsive.

Dear donnajean2017, I’m certainly flattered by your exceptional review! Thank you very much for sharing your most recent experience and for being such a proponent of our resort. We do have an amazing team here at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort, and I appreciate your recognition of a few outstanding members--I will be sure to let them know of your kind words! We’d love to welcome you back once again in order to give you another healthy dose of luxurious Southern hospitality. Perhaps you’ll have an opportunity to try out our all-natural Spa at Chateau Elan for a deep tissue massage? Or if a 90-minute purifying facial is more your speed we can certainly arrange that as well. Regardless of the occasion, we’re looking forward to welcoming you back again soon. Thank you once again for the review and safe travels. Sincerely, Robert Woolridge, General Manager

My family and I visited Chateau Elan for a quick stay in the middle of the week. We've been stuck at home since the pandemic began and just needed to get away. Initially, I was worried about traveling because of COVID, but Chateau Elan took so many precautions that my fears quickly subsided upon arrival. All the restaurants required their employees to wear masks and some even used electronic menus to avoid contact exposure. Additionally, all employees on site wore masks the entire time, including at the pool, winery, front desk, and cleaning grounds staff. The surfaces appeared to be cleaned regularly, especially the chairs at the pools.
When it comes to the offerings at the resort, you really cannot find a comparable resort in Georgia. The hotel has many restaurants to choose from, a gorgeous winery to visit, a luxury pool, and an interior atrium that is breathtaking to look at. The rooms are modern and come equipped with USB ports that we appreciated.
The only thing that was surprising to us was the cost of food at the restaurants. It was manageable for some of our meals but we did decide to eat off-site a couple times to save money. But let me tell you - the breakfast at Versailles and the Fish and Chips at Paddy's is well worth the price so I recommend eating there, for sure!
All in all, it was a wonderful trip with so much to offer. I cannot wait to attend again!

We just returned to Atlanta from Chateau Elan. After being given a recommendation from friends we spent last weekend at this place. We could not believe how busy the place was and how responsive they have been to this Covid stuff. They have door handles that put hand sanitizer onto ur hands and it seemed that everyone was constantly wiping and cleaning. Our room was spotless and was nice to have the tv control in a bag showing it was clean. Everything was super clean. Food in the Marck was very good and the wine tasting was handled very well. We did think that the pool area was overcrowded and difficult to get a lounge chair. Did not care for the wait to have the lounger cleaned and then a rediculous plastic cover being placed on the thing. I get it needs to be clean but that is delaying and preventing people who need a chair from getting one. My husband uses a mask all the time so I do too, but customers did not seem to care. I think the resort should make it a rule to use a mask and not allow people to be there otherwise. If all the staff use a mask which it seems they do, they may as well not bother if other customers dont. The lobby staff were so kind, in particular Koreay who was such a gentleman. For $200 this is a very inexpensive and good deal with a lot to do and so relaxing. It is a beautiful resort. Our only critical feedback is don’t be too over the top on cleaning and putting the plastic wrap on the pool chairs and calm down a bit on the chemicals being used in the bathroom as it seems quite strong. Nice to know it is clean but perhaps a little less

Dear Drayvvt91 Thank you so very much for staying at Chateau Elan Winery and Resort and taking the time to provide feedback. We also appreciate you identifying Koray as being one of our service superstars. We are very lucky to have him on our team! You will be pleased to know that effective today we will be mandating mask usage for all guests at the resort in an effort to further protect our employees and guests that feel more comfortable in an all mask environment. We will work to replace the plastic chair covers quicker so that there are no delays. This is currently taking us less than 2 minutes to achieve, we do believe the covers are needed. Again, we are so delighted that you enjoyed your experience with us and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Best Neville Erasmus

If you call to make a reservation you will hear a lengthy spiel about how much care has been given to guest safety considerations during Covid-19. Although there are entry door handles that squirt hand sanitizer, a shield at the registration desk, and several signage attempts to encourage guests to do the right thing, there is no enforcement or carry through. For example, the guest services representative removed his mask while discussing check out; the pool safety measures which included the staff cleaning lounge chairs between uses was not followed, and the placement of plastic coverings indicating a sanitized pool chair was not done either. I can’t say that guests were particularly concerned as most were neither masked nor social distancing. Some rather important things to understand about a stay here for those with accessibility needs: the handicapped parking is actually located on a level above the hotel entry which requires walking down a flight of stairs or taking a long walk around the parking lot and down. There is valet parking space close to the entrance, but there is a charge above the fee for self park. Speaking of fees, there is also a daily charge for using a credit card. The room itself was spacious and the bathroom had both a tub and shower. Internet was easily accessed. The beds were miserable and it felt like sleeping on straw filled sacks. The television was undersized for the basic room quality. Only one chair in a room makes for a difficult time managing computer time. Only one person can sit at the desk and others in a potentially four person room have to sit on the bed or stand. Not comfortable at all. Two washcloths were stained which made me wonder if they had just been left over from the previous occupants. Breakfast is available onsite if you want to drop $50 per couple, but you can drive five minutes up the road for something a little more reasonable if it suits your needs. Unless you want to stay onsite I can’t see any good reason for choosing this resort as there are many hotels nearby.

Dear TheCovertCritic Thank you so much for staying with us and providing such detailed feedback. It is disappointing to read that you felt the protocols at the hotel were not consistent. It seems that there were some critical misses. I do want to assure you that all the protocols are actively in place and monitored. The social distancing at the pool is a requirement and we do sanitize chairs between uses. Due to very high pool volume there can be delays between each guest as the pool team need to re-sanitize and then cover the chair in plastic to indicate that it is sterile. There is actually an accessible parking spot on the same level as the main entrance so I apologize if you missed it. The newly renovated Chateau Elan, Winery and resort has 10 restaurants, a 30 room SPA with indoor pool and wet treatments areas, one of the best wineries on the East Coast, Tennis, 3 golf courses, resort pool, and 40,000 square feet of newly renovated meeting and convention space. We sincerely apologize that the newly renovated rooms and resort amenities were not a fit for your needs and indeed hope that you will give us another chance to serve you in the future. Best NEP

Dissatisfied with the level of service, cleanliness standards and overall customer experience that a friend and I received today at the Wine Tasting Flight today, July 29, 2020.
We were both so looking forward to a relaxing time at Chateau Elan. I had been to the hotel several years ago while visiting Georgia. Now that I am a resident of Georgia and live so close to the hotel the wine tasting seemed like the perfect way to revisit the hotel.
We made reservations online, arrived early for the tasting approximately 1:30-1:40 for a 2:00 tasting. All doors were locked so we waited, more people began to arrive, doors still locked. Finally at 2:00 the doors were unlocked. We entered the building and waited in line to check in. The website states that all visitors and guests must wear masks or face coverings, this was not the case. Several groups did not have masks. When it was finally our turn to select our first wine, I mentioned to the waitress pouring the wine the group before us did not have masks on, she replied “ oh, ok I’ll tell them” to my knowledge that never happened as they never wore masks nor did other groups. We also ordered two smalls plates of food.
We chose to eat and taste our wine outside as it was too crowded inside. The tables outside were not 6 feet apart nor were they clean. Fortunately I brought my own wipes to clean the table and chairs. The wine was delicious. Went in for our second tasting and has a long wait as there was only one person pouring wine. Received the wine and asked for a knife as we ordered a cheese plate and pimento cheese plate but only received a fork. It would have been nice for each of to have our own plate to place our food on but didn’t want ask and make the long line even longer. The small plates of food were ok, but overpriced. Only flatbread, with some cheese and meats and pimento cheese for $38.00! Went in for our third pour of wine, lines even longer, still only one person pouring wine. We did have a fourth glass out of the seven we were to receive, but it was already 4:00, decided we’d be there till 7:00 if we tasted all 7. There was no wiping off the counters at the bar as each person selected their wines and left and the server did not wear gloves. Your website and phone messages clearly state you are doing everything you can to sanitize, but it not evident that is not happening. Very understaffed.
On the plus side the wine is delicious and the winery is beautiful.

Dear 393susanf, Thank you so much for visiting the Winery, We are disappointing to learn of the issues you experienced. Our standards are very strict at is pertains to sanitation between guests so it is alarming to read that you did not experience this on your visit. Masks are indeed mandatory and while all guests are asked to use them, our team do all they can to enforce, however once a guest is seated and tasting wine, they do remove the mask. We sincerely apologize for the wait times at the winery, this is not acceptable and we will immediately rectify. I would appreciate it if you could reach out to me directly so that we may make it right. I look forward to speaking with you directly. Again, thank you for visiting the Winery and I apologize for the poor experience. Best Neville

Where should I start? I was married here 17 years ago and have been coming here for dinner or an event several times a year since. It was nice to see money spent to upgrade the property recently when it was sold to new owners. However, the devil’s in the details. This is the first and only hotel I’ve ever seen that actually charges you a 2.2% fee for every credit card purchase and I’m a very frequent traveler. Everyone on the planet pays hotel bills with a credit card, but this hotel generously gives you the option of being able to pay your several thousand dollar bill at end of stay in cash or debit to avoid the fee in case you have a couple thousand on hand when you arrive. Then there’s the $42/day resort fee. No idea what that covers when there’s no daily cleaning during the never ending COVID period. There was no valet parking, but a $16/Day self parking fee, which is confusing because Q&A appears to say free parking (that’s really only short term winery visitors). No one answers the phone at the resort - just try to call (8 for guest services or 0 for operator) - we called 3 times about dinner and other event reservations before our stay and spent hours during the day trying to reach a human. Every facet of the property is understaffed. A wedding was happening In the atrium and they didn’t even set up screens, so the poor people who spent all that money had to look at scantily clad people going to/from the pool area around their service. All the good stuff on the Paddy’s Irish Pub menu is gone (who replaces potato soup with tomato soup at an Irish pub?), and we watched 3 tables of people review the menu and promptly leave based on the offerings. The mask requirement was excessive if you were indeed staying away from others. I had a beautiful suite with an awesome view of the giant air conditioners on a section of the lower roof that pretty much ruined the feel of the room. We noticed the sofa bed didn’t have any sheets on it and no blankets or extra pillows were in the room, so glad we didn’t need to use it. There’s no room service menu in the room, so it’s impossible to order anything, which we had to finally give up haggling with the operator and get a To Go order from one of the restaurants. These owners have A LOT to get right before they can start charging all these extra fees.

Responded 27 Jul 2020
Dear 114adrienner Thank you so very much for staying with us and sharing your feedback. We sincerely appreciate your loyalty. It is disappointing to read that you found the resort to not be what it used to be, indeed there have been some major adjustments which are mostly due to the new restrictions pertaining to state ordinances, and as you likely know, each state has different mandates. As a business and ethical community supporter we take every effort to ensure the highest compliance and safety to our guests. I will address each of your concerns as it is important that the travelling public know the new norm in travel. 1. The 2.2% credit card convenience fee is for room charges only. Many hotels actually charge this as part of the fees, we simply decided to ensure that it is public and well depicted. As you may know, businesses across the globe transfer the fee to the customer. We actually pay this credit card fee when you utilize a credit card. We pay the credit card companies millions of dollars every year. We have this very well communicated on our website, when you purchase a room it is shown clearly as it is on Expedia and other OTA sites. 2. The resort fee. The majority of resorts charge some type of resort fee. Our resort fee is lower than most of our competitor resorts. And this is not a new change. Indeed over the past 5-10 years this has been in place. It also covers the extreme cost of the new COVID environment which includes significant changes to the operation and as much as a 40% increase in many of our labor and cost structure. The resort fee has not increased, to the contrary it has remained flat and includes a plethora of services: [Taken directly from our website] Currently, Chateau Elan assesses a $42 Resort Fee per room, per night to enhance your resort experience. Inclusions: Live Entertainment on weekends in Paddy’s Pub and Louis House of Bourbon. Resort pool access with poolside fire pits. Daily winery tour at 5:00pm. Recreational club access. Tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, Corn-hole boards. Par 3 golf course: $10 Greens Fee; Tee Time Required. Driving range access: 1 complimentary range token. Check in at the Course Pro Shop. Appropriate golf attire required. One hour Tennis court Reservation. Based upon hours of operation and availability. Appropriate tennis attire required. Resort bicycles (available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Resort shuttle service to winery, spa and golf courses. Chateau Elan Inn fitness center featuring top-of-the-line equipment including a Peloton bike. 24-hour self-serve business center access including use of computers and printers. located in Lobby. Premium Wireless internet and unlimited local calls. In room coffee. Enhanced and comprehensive cleaning, sanitation and associate PPE. 3. We are unable to offer Valet Parking at this time at a resort as we do not allow our employees to enter a vehicle that could have any risk of COVID-19, I am sure you appreciate that our guest and team member safety is our primary calling. Entering a guest vehicle is neither safe for the employee or guest. I apologize that we have taken this stance but it is important to us. 4. There was a wedding going on and I can assure you screening was discussed with the client. They elected to leave it open which is their decision. We do offer the option to screen, the majority of our customers elect to leave it open. 5. Most hotels do not currently even have a full service restaurant open, most resorts only offer limited services as social distancing is required in the kitchens *(6FT between each employee)*. This is a new reality and our industry is working hard to manage it. We have various options in soup, the tomato soup is one of them I will also add that we have 10 restaurants / bars and outlets and all of them are open. We also social distance all our restaurants and bars which is currently state law. 6. Masks are required. This is not excessive, but a GA State requirement for all employees. As you know a mask protects the person wearing it, so we want our employees to be protected too. This is a very critical value we have. Our peoples' health and safety. 7. Sofa beds are convertible couches which do not get made up in advance as when you fold the couch up with all the linens and duvet it damages the frame. We always make these up on request by guests to make sure all linen is always fresh and sterile. 8. We have removed all high touch items and thus there is no menu or other collateral. This is to protect guests. All menus are on the TV Menu and we have QR codes throughout the resort showing information, menus etc. The hospitality industry is working hard to find new technologies to prevent high touch Covid exposure. We are proud to be on the leading front of these technologies. All in all, I know that some of these changes, majority of which are the current GA law for hotels and restaurants, and look forward to the day where we are behind these new challenges. The resort has all amenities open, was just renovated and is offering so many wonderful amenities including winery, SPA, Activities Club, Golf, 10 restaurants and bars, resort pool and hot tub, pool bar, beautiful newly imagined meeting and event space. We are sorry that these changes made things inconvenient. Rest assured that we are constantly working to find new technologies to improve the guest experience and will not stop until it is perfected Best Neville

I stayed here over a weekend in mid June with my family and while our stay was mostly pleasant there were a few issues. The biggest complaint I have is that there was signage in the hotel and information on the website about cleaning/disinfecting and social distancing that were outright false advertising. There is signage in multiple places in the hotel about the pool and how chairs will be cleaned when someone gets up and a plastic cover placed over it so you know it’s clean and that there will be a limit on guests in the pool area and none of this was true... over our 3 days there I never once saw someone clean a pool chair nor was there a plastic cover in sight. While the chairs were distanced and it didn’t feel terribly unsafe, I was very disappointed with this lack of effort at keeping guests safe especially since it was advertised that way.
Additionally, we paid to take a wine tour/tasting under the impression from advertising on the website that there would only be 10 people per group/tour and therefore everyone would be socially distanced. Unfortunately, after the tour began it became clear that this was in no way the case. There were 24 people on our tour and only one other couple was wearing masks. We were all crammed around one bar for the tasting despite there being another area in the room to spread out. Since this all took place indoors it felt extreme unsafe and made for a very uncomfortable experience.
When we mentioned this at checkout as they asked how our stay was, the response we got from 2 employees was a simple shrug of the shoulders. Very disappointing.
All this is to say, go and stay if you would like... it is a nice place and largely enjoyable but don’t go under the belief that they are concerned about your safety or health as their advertising is simply false in that regard.

Dear beccadarby, Thank you for staying with us. We appreciate your feedback and would like to address your concerns. We have 3 pool attendants throughout the day who are in charge of sanitizing the pool chairs and keeping them clean. This additional step, (not required by any state ordinance, or CDC, is the extra step we take to help ensure safety for guests and employees alike. I apologize if you did not see it or if our team missed one of the chairs. We go to great measures to ensure the highest standards and I can assure you that the pool area is well maintained. The winery tour you booked was limited to 10 people and last week the Governor of GA updated the executive order to allow 25 persons. Thus you are correct that there were 25 people in a 1,000 square foot wine cellar which is a small crowd vs. the groupings ordinance of 10 people per 300 sq. ft, making the social distancing more than sufficient than required. I apologize if you felt the restrictions are not aggressive enough but I assure you we are fully compliant and could indeed have added more people if we wanted to, but agree that limiting the number makes everyone feel safer.

My sister and I just stayed in room 451 for three nights. We were very impressed with the Covid-19 safety precautions the entire resort took. We felt safe. No one entered our room from the moment we broke the seal and we had enough supplies, towels etc.. We were greeted every day by the Concierge Manager, Koray Askin, who was delightful and incredibly helpful. All the staff were professional and attentive. They have a strick MASK policy, and we only saw a few people without masks sitting off by themselves in the lobby. We will be back. FANTASTIC!!

Chateau Elan is tucked away in Braselton, Georgia and will make you feel like you are far away from the hustle of Atlanta. The property is newly renovated and it is very evident when you enter every building from The Spa to The Inn. The hospitality I experienced all weekend was that of a 5 star resort. There are multiple bars, restaurants and activities onsite with a driver or shuttle to take you wherever you need to go. The overall feel of the hotel is modern with a Southern vibe and the rooms are very clean and spacious. I highly recommend visiting Chateau Elan for more than just their delicious wine. Check out Louis and chat with the bartenders or visit The Spa for the most relaxing time. I will go back!

My wife and I visited this beautiful resort for her 40th birthday celebration. The resort is located about 40 miles north of Atlanta and is right off of the interstate. Pulling up to the resort you can tell you are in for a treat as everything is very gorgeous and freshly manicured. Check in was quick and simple as the hospitality at the resort is top notch. The ambiance of the resort is so imaginable and beautiful which makes you feel relaxed and at ease for your stay. The hotel has just went through a major renovation and the rooms are newly decorated, fresh and clean. The room was a good size with a nice comfortable bed, a small refrigerator and a nice size shower and big bathtub. We had a problem with our refrigerator but the situation was taken care of quickly with them bringing up a new one to us. The resort has everything you need there without you even leaving from a golf course, sports bar, spa and restaurants. We ate dinner at Marc's restaurant and the restaurant is very beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. The weather was not very good the weekend we went with it being cold and rainy but the resort has beautiful fire places and seating areas that keep you warm and cozy. Parking at the resort is convenient as you can either use valet parking or park on your own for free. I would recommend this hotel to couples who desire a nice getaway to relax and enjoy one another as we will definitely be back!

Our room was on the 2nd floor. I don't know if rooms differ between floors. Versailles restaurant is on the first floor. There is an elevator, or stairs. The Bourbon Bar is on the second floor.
Other restaurants on site are detached, but close by. We enjoyed all of the restaurants as well as the Bourbon Bar.
The only 2 restaurants that require reservations at Chateau Elan are Versailles which is in the main part of the hotel and The Marc, which is part of the winery (walking distance or 1 minute shuttle). Louis Burbon bar is VERY small and isn't really intended for meals. It's all sofas and singular chairs - designed to drink and chat. There is 1 high top table (I think) that accommodates 6 (maybe 8) chairs, and that's kinda it. Plus the food at Louis IS the same food at the pool - and their menu is extremely small. Marc is nice, but it's part of the winery so very open, not at all the intimate setting I was expecting. Paddy's Pub is a restaurant but doesn't require reservations. Sarazens isn't "on property" and you have to drive there. Honestly the best overall dining experience we had was at Fleur de Lis which is the small restaurant inside of the Spa. Good luck!
Yes, ask hotel directly
I’m sure they do. The rooms are very luxurious!!
Thank you for your question. Currently we do not have this package available but do have several other wonderful packages. As the SPA is often sold out it is difficult currently to have Guest Room Packages. If you are looking for Spa treatments please let me know and I am happy to have a team member reach out to you.
Best
