Just spent 7 nights at Island Bay Resort (2nd visit). Love this intimate, charming piece of paradise. The moment we turn into drive and go through the beautiful gate, I feel like I am in another world, away from the hustle bustle. Owners have not missed a detail. The quaint, private beach is lovely. We’ve stayed in #4 and most recently #1. All cottages steps away from water and beautiful sunsets. We spent several of the days right here on the private beach, sunning, paddle boards, kayaking, and also ice cream at DQ across street. We also got our exercise walking 1.9 miles (on sidewalk) to breakfast at Made to Order (best breakfast and waterfront seating). Lots of choices for great nearby restaurants. If in the keys, this is the place to stay.
Found this place via trip advisor as alternative to island vacation back in august. The website has changed since then as I remeber pics of some individual cottages. No difference as we got the room we wanted no 8. The grounds are immaculate and well groomed. Beach area was nice and set up perfectly for 10 rooms. The offer bocce and corn hole have kayaks and paddle boats. Our problem was we picked the week of the bad storm wind and noth wind so very limited water play. Room was just perfect for us. Bed large and comfortable. Access to restaurants only 10 mins away. It met our expectations of a quiet Florida resort back in time.
Stayed at this property which was over $1,600 for (5) nights. The positives are that the grounds are beautiful. The beds, are comfortable, and get made everyday. and fresh towels are replaced. This is unheard of when traveling in these Covid-19 times. While its off the main road, still there was no noise. However, in my opinion, the word resort is misleading. Sure there is a private beach, but no one is swimming. You can put your feet in the water or can sit and look at the water is all. There is no outdoor or indoor pool, no exercise room, no breakfast, no activities, nothing but a room, and parking for the money. This property is small, with tight parking on site. A family member booked this after reading the reviews, which were mostly positive. There is no safe in the room, but you can't gain access inside the property without putting the code in for the front sliding electric gate. The central location is nice to go north to key largo down to Marathon. Without going all the way to Key West( we've been x3). Next time I'll choose a real"resort" hotel, with a pool, bar/ restaurant on property. Also a beach, where you can really swim in the ocean. Is that too much to ask.…
Wow just wow. This little gem is in the same category as the Ritz Carlton. There a gate to keep the property safe, fresh flowers on the bed, a resort style beach area with sand that is racked everyday. Very impressive.
Exceeded more and beyond our expectations! Very serene and relaxing... Entire staff was awesome!!! Highly recommend! Clean and cozy! Make no mistake about it, we picked the most awesome place in the Keys!!!! We will definitely be back, (hopefully soon!!!) Exemplary Indeed!!!
