Atlantic Bay Resort is nestled in Tavernier, the loveliest part of Key Largo and the diving capital of the world. We are conveniently located 1-1/2 hours south of Miami, and 2 hours north of Key West, the southernmost tip of the continental USA. The little jewel we call Atlantic Bay is a small resort that faces the Gulf of Mexico's Florida Bay. It is located on three tropical landscaped acres with 500 feet of waterfront.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I discovered a charming hidden gem on the golf side of Tavernier and instantly fell in love. Jessica and Tisa, that staff, were incredibly accommodating and friendly. The property is impeccably maintained featuring amenities like ping-pong, cornhole, kayaks, paddle boards, a pool and several barbecue grills. There’s ample dock space for fishing or docking your boat. We stayed in an adorable cottage, just steps from the beach. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. Our private porch was the perfect spot to watch the sunset with the glass of wine. Overall, it’s an ideal place for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment.

Well manicured grounds with beautiful bay views and a relaxed vibe. Boat launch, trailer parking, and docking were very convenient. The ramp here is actually a beach launch which worked well for our 18' boat. Docks are in great shape with no protrusions or structural members that will damage your hull.
The staff was very nice and welcoming. We'll be back!!

Beautiful property with Peaceful serenity surrounding you. Outdoor Games, beautiful pool and lots of seating to nestle down and read and relax, this property literally has something for everyone. Each detail inside and out makes this the perfect home away from home getaway. You can wake up in the morning and go for a paddleboard / kayak ( either readily available) on the crystal clean Atlantic water to watch the sun peek through the trees as it rises. You may even spot a family of manatees feasting on a bed of grass just to the left of the property, this was the perfect addition to our trip. There is access to launch and boat dock exclusive for guest if you want to bring your water craft with you for even more fun in the sun . After a fun day in the sun, we had plenty of delicious restaurants close by to enjoy. We can’t wait to go back in the near future.

you are looking for Paradise, congratulations you’ve found it!! My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years and I must say that there is no other place like it! From the friendly and helpful cleaning staff, to the family welcome at the main office. I must say that Lily and Sandra are always on top of all of our accommodations from the moment we arrive to the second we depart, which I always hate. There is no need to use your vehicle as they have Bicycles that can be used to go to the local food market or Restaurants, which is what we do. There is also a really nice swimming pool and a small little oasis beach. We have 2 small girls and we know that no matter where they are on property they are safe because of all the cameras and staff all around. Very quiet and relaxing. Maybe take a swing on the hammock and share a glass of wine while watching the sunset! You can do it all here. I would recommend this little paradise to everyone. It is worth every penny.

In the Keys, you usually have a choice between "really nice but really expensive" or "rundown but reasonable". This is one of the few that "nice but not too expensive". It's also a good distance from highway 1 (probably 100 yards), which really minimized traffic noise.
Check in was a nice surprise, with a full review of all the property amenities (pool, kayaks & SUPs, etc.), and a printed list of dining options and nearby essentials (groceries, pharmacy, etc.). He even advised us of when to be at the water to watch the sunset, and to hang around 20 or 30 minutes to see the afterglow.
Our suite was clean and well equipped with a full kitchenette. The bed, A/C, and shower were all quite good (though the lever to switch from the tap to the shower head was stubborn).

For reference, I consider a 1 star hotel is a dump, a 2 star hotel just a room, a 3 star hotel has a pool or restaurant, 4 star pool and restaurant, and 5 star is a high end w/ all of the amenities. The Atlantic Bay Resort is a 3 star hotel by that criteria. Typically, the best I would rate a 3 star hotel is 4 stars. But this place was SO nice that I had to go beyond that. To start off with, this place has only 20 rooms. And ONLY 2 of those 20 are what I would consider a room. They are more like studio apartments, with a living room, kitchen, and bedroom. We stayed in room 9 (King efficiency) which is in the 2 story building that holds half of their rooms. The others are small cabins. Most have been recently updated, ours had probably been a while, but was still well maintained. A lot of the guests we met were heading to/from Key West and were only staying 1 night, which its location in Tavernier makes it perfect for. Fortunately, we stayed 5 nights and had the opportunity to really appreciate all this place has to offer. We've been to Key West and wanted a more low-key experience this time. We were able to enjoy activities from Key Largo to Big Pine Key and never had to drive more than 90 minutes to get to any. The last day there, we decided to skip Pennekamp State Park (we had been before) and just hang out at and around ABR. We checked out a couple of the bicycles they have (not the greatest bikes, but they’re free) and biked around in the surrounding neighborhoods and dreamt of living in the $1M+ homes along the channels. We made a stop at the local CVS and picked up some more sunscreen. Then cooled off in the pool. Next was checking out one of the kayaks (again, for free) paddling all over the cove. And to top it off, we re-heated all of our left overs from the previous 4 nights and dined under a palapa as the sunset over the bay (see pic). There may be fancier options in the keys, but this place is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation.

Stayed just for the one night, Christmas Day. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor space as we had hoped so was confined to the room. We had a room with a kitchen
Perfectly clean but the shower didn’t work and the front desk was closed so we didn’t get to freshen up at all during our stay.
Check out - we left early and understandably there was no one there to check out with. There was no instructions about how to check out if no one available which would have been useful. Instead I left the key by the front desk, took photo as proof and had to email them. Not ideal. When they emailed me back to confirm the key had been received they didn’t acknowledge nor apologise for the broken shower that we were unable to use. This would have been nice if they did! Was expensive for the stay we had for it not to be up to scratch.

This was our 4th stay here and probably our last. We have always enjoyed the beautiful views and kayaking from the beach. We love the bbq facilities and the pool is nice. Beds good size too. What we didn’t like this time was being in a ‘deluxe king room’ which wasn’t deluxe at all, (our room rate was $300 per night) had inadequate kitchen facilities, no maid service during our 3 nights (are they a resort/hotel/motel? prices are hotel..) and being kept awake all night by THE LOUDEST air con unit on the planet. It felt like sleeping on an airport runway and interrupted our sleep massively!
We love to use the bbq but our kitchen area (we were sadly placed in an older room) was tiny so impossible to prepare any food. Not enough utensils and cutlery, no plastic plates or trays to take things to the beach. When I asked if we could borrow a tray, the lady on reception said I could go to the local Win Dixie and buy one, really for over $300 a night you can’t provide a tray for guests to use? Our room had a microwave and sink, under the sink was a portable stove, but there was no place to put the stove if you wanted to be able to use the microwave, coffee machine and drying rack, so we had to unplug the microwave and place this away during our stay so we could use the stove. After first night we decided to cook next door in my brothers updated ‘efficiency’ which had a lovely cooking space. He doesn’t cook but had soo much space, wasn’t ideal for us though. It was our most expensive stay during a 6 week holiday and not worth the money. The hotel will say that we got a good rate. Well maybe if everything matches that rate fine, the resort is lovely but what you want for a relaxing holiday is the full package plus a good nights sleep and we didn’t get that here.

Thank you for this awesome stay. The beach was one of our highlights. The water was so clear and you had the possibility to do a lot of activities like stand up paddle for free. Additionally it was for us one of the most wonderful sunset spots at the keys!

My large group of family members stayed at Atlantic Bay for 6 days/5 nights for my 50th birthday and it was amazing!! Clean rooms, cold a/c, spectacular location with spacious cottages. Plenty of amenities to keep everyone happy! Lots of privacy so even though we had a great time together we had our own space too. Paddle boarding in the morning is a MUST! The clear water and sea life is absolutely beautiful. The pool is great to cool off and sunbathe. Many restaurants near by gives everyone an option food wise and we also brought food to make in the kitchens. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely come back!
