Visited here in the afternoon with friends to have a sandwich supper on the beach and watch the sunset - we had unseasonably cool temp with low humidity for this time of year! Beautiful, sunny afternoon relaxing with very few other people around. After eating decided to explore the park and fort - was very windy on the beach! Many...

We had visited the beach at Fort de Soto Park but had never stayed. We had for families stayed on 2 camp sites. We had a total of 8 kids ages 3 to 10. They had a GREAT time! the adults loved it too. Overall I would recommend this place, a couple things did not make it an excellent (only...

Travel to Tampa about every three months. Each time try out a different beach. This one rates at the top. There are a couple of minor tolls and then 5. for parking at the State Park. Beach is a salt and pepper looking mixture which is quite different from the other beaches in the area. Went on a Sunday and...

Ft. DeSoto is a great place to camp. There are many sites with beautiful views for both tents and campers and even sites to bring your dog along. The camp store has wood for fires, bikes for rent and a little bit of anything you may have left behind. The campgrounds have activity rooms to play games in if it...

Beautiful location, clean, and worth a visit. I went once in college and remembered it so fondly that I went back 7 years later. It's still a great place to camp out on the beach. Bathrooms are clean, you get plugs for electronics, and everything is great if you lock trash away. There are raccoons here.

I have camped here numerous times over the years. When we think of camping, Ft. De Soto automatically comes to mind! Many of the sites are on the water. It can be a bit windy at times, but you can't beat the size of the sites and and trees that provide shelter from the other sites. It is a popular...

The water is very close. You can go she'll hunting and swim in the water. So peaceful and relaxing. The cost isn't too bad. Have to be ready for some bugs but that is part of camping for you. Have to give this a try to appreciate it.

I live in Clearwater and camp here often. Beautiful grounds. Very nice bath/shower facilities. Around the corner from the best beach in the Tampa Bay area. Office staff is very friendly. After purchasing my first travel trailer last year, I have been looking for other campgrounds to check out. I have found no others that compare. Ft DeSoto is the...

The fort is interesting with cannons from the past., The gift shop has food and a wide variety of clothing for sale. We also enjoyed the white sandy beach. They have chairs and umbrella rentals if you need them. The bathrooms were clean and convenient.
