My friend wanted to go to this island...so we stayed at this inn....I had stayed here about 2 years ago with my sisters. I thought it had new owners and a new remodel boy was I wrong...it looked the same as before. This place is a dump the room we had was filthy there was dirt under the bed..the bed was lumpy..not sure if these sheets were changed from previous guests.....bathroom sink had rust...after check in you can find anyone to complain too...this is a nice location and could be a top place to stay if only someone would clean and remodel. The price they charge reflects a 4 star hotel...this is definitely not that...so folks save your money stay somewhere else

The inn is old, run down, and not well-maintained. No elevator. Stairwell worn. No carts / bellhops. The room was not clean upon arrival (filthy bathroom) and not “cleaned” during our stay — one housekeeping visit during weeklong stay; clean towels availability by request. Questionable housekeeping staff / sanitation practices. Trash bins on porch, in lobby, in lot not emptied regularly — once a week. Rooms need more accessible electrical outlets — those available were used by room equipped lamps, TV, clock or in locations unreachable — no where to charge electronic devices. Major inconvenience. Spotty wifi. Front desk clerk was cheerful and willing but unknowledgeable and inept. Bed needs replacing — uncomfortable, lumpy squeaky mattress, small flat screen TV with poor reception and limited channels. Furniture scratched and worn. Luke warm water in shower with weak stream. The a/c is regulated by management. No thermostat in room for self-adjusting — very cold inside room. No extra blanket provided (yes, in August in Florida). Limited parking. In nice location — shopping, restaurants, beach access, attractions — within walking distance to beach and attractions. Wrap around porch — provides nice views of island, bay, ocean, sunset but is also the gathering place for smokers — inconsiderate people smoking, talking and laughing until very late hours. Obviously, this is not a smoke free establishment as advertised. No quiet hour set. Unruly / active children could be heard from room above ours. Noisy and smoky. Dog, owned by staff, runs loose throughout inn. Dusty and non-sanitized. Old and run down. Overpriced. Entire place needs a facelift and a “minimum” set of rules.

I think the previous reviews are off-base. If you want a commercial motel this is not for you. This is a great old-fashioned rustic island inn with lots of personality. Is it aged? Yes. But with age comes uniqueness and history. St. George is a rustic wind blown island and this inn fits it perfectly. Enjoy the in-house dog, buster brown, the full length 2nd floor porch with views of the sound, and really friendly service.

We stayed at a room on the top floor and were charged $300 for one night. The only way up is to take the steep staircase that need maintenance and are very dirty. Passing the balcony areas of the other rooms as we walked up, it looked terribly run down. Our family was really excited about this stay and was immediately discouraged and wanted to leave. The lobby was nice and clean with a cute painted staircase. The outside had garbage laying on the grounds and under the staircase. One stair had splinters and was broken. Our room was outdated and small, but seemed to be clean. It was not stocked with toilet paper, just a little on the roll and 2 towels, for 4 people. So we had to make the trek back down the stairs to the lobby a couple of times. Dirty balcony, we did not sit out there. All the owners would have to do is clean up and paint or just clean the hallways and outdoor areas. Hire maintenance to help keep it up? This was our last stop on a 2 week road trip in FL. and we were disappointed.

New owners and new day!! Our room was clean and comfortable. If you are looking for fancy, modern and spacious room, go elsewhere. If you want a location close to restaurants, ice cream and beach, give it a try. We parked our car on day of arrival and didn’t start it up until we left!! To clarify, the beach is a few blocks away, and an easy walk. We have stayed at “ hotels on the beach” in the past, and access to the beach area was further and up hill. Reasonably priced, helpful staff and beautiful beach. We are looking forward to staying here next summer!!
