The location is good but our room, Total Escape, had spackling all over the walls whcih apparently needed a new coat of paint. I would never let any guest stay at my house with it looking like that! The bathroom was so small I could hardly turn around. The bedside plugs were not working and I needed to use my CPAP to sleep. There was no one at the desk for hours to help us. The final straw was that they didn't get local channels on the tv so we were gonna miss the FSU/LSU game. We decided to forfeit our money, chalk it up to life experience, and get home to watch the game. It was totally worth it! I will never book a room here again!
If you expect a first class hotel in this quiet beach island town, you will be disappointed. This quaint beach hotel is not the height of luxury, but it is a homey, beachy and very friendly place to land. Hotel staff from manager, front desk staff to house leaner staff were friendly and helpful. While the place needs cosmetic work and doors are a bit swollen from the salt air, we had everything we needed to enjoy this lovely quiet island for as long as we needed. Located in the center of all the island offers, you are a short walk to the beach and all island restaurants. Sparks grocery right next door makes day tripping lunches easy and other quick needs easily taken care of. We would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful location and we were warmly greeted at check-in but the property was very, very run down. The bedding, furniture and bathroom were old and dated and needed a lot of TLC. So was the whole building. For the price, I would recommend going somewhere else. We were so disappointed.
The location is nice but that’s about it. No early check in even if the room is clean because there is no receptionist until 2:50pm. The bed was old, cheap, and uncomfortable. There is no thermostat in the room so you get to enjoy the temp that management decides it should be. Would never consider staying here again at this price.
Yes folks, what a dump hole. The cockroaches made us run for the hills. Between the rotting boards, the need of a paint job, the smell of pot coming from a second story room in this non-smoking hotel our experience was disgusting. Don’t waste your time, the pictures on the internet doesn’t paint the true picture of what you would be embarking on.
Inn is an absolute dump. Don’t stay here unless you like the sound of flushing toilets and trailer trash amenities. If I was rating outhouses 1 - 5 (5 being the best), this hole gets a solid #1. I’d say more but I’m attempting to remain civilized. See photos.
I've stayed here several times over the past ten years. A new resident caretaker couple is there now and they are very nice but the Inn itself has not been kept up, and is in need of a serious renovation by the owner, who lives nearby in Apalachicola. The rooms are tired-looking and drab, the mattress was uneven, the shower handles were loose, not all the appliances work, etc. The Inn is an ideal location, right next to the Lighthouse but it will be all up to the owner whether to make a major investment in bringing the property up to modern standards or letting it deteriorate away. I hope he/she chooses the former but in the meantime, I'd look elsewhere if you want a comfortable stay on St. George Island.
Stayed here for 2 nights in November. Definitely would not recommend, no hot water. The business did nothing to address this even though they knew the hot water is out. Terrible place to spend time at.
My friend wanted to go to this island...so we stayed at this inn....I had stayed here about 2 years ago with my sisters. I thought it had new owners and a new remodel boy was I wrong...it looked the same as before. This place is a dump the room we had was filthy there was dirt under the bed..the bed was lumpy..not sure if these sheets were changed from previous guests.....bathroom sink had rust...after check in you can find anyone to complain too...this is a nice location and could be a top place to stay if only someone would clean and remodel. The price they charge reflects a 4 star hotel...this is definitely not that...so folks save your money stay somewhere else
The inn is old, run down, and not well-maintained. No elevator. Stairwell worn. No carts / bellhops. The room was not clean upon arrival (filthy bathroom) and not “cleaned” during our stay — one housekeeping visit during weeklong stay; clean towels availability by request. Questionable housekeeping staff / sanitation practices. Trash bins on porch, in lobby, in lot not emptied regularly — once a week. Rooms need more accessible electrical outlets — those available were used by room equipped lamps, TV, clock or in locations unreachable — no where to charge electronic devices. Major inconvenience. Spotty wifi. Front desk clerk was cheerful and willing but unknowledgeable and inept. Bed needs replacing — uncomfortable, lumpy squeaky mattress, small flat screen TV with poor reception and limited channels. Furniture scratched and worn. Luke warm water in shower with weak stream. The a/c is regulated by management. No thermostat in room for self-adjusting — very cold inside room. No extra blanket provided (yes, in August in Florida). Limited parking. In nice location — shopping, restaurants, beach access, attractions — within walking distance to beach and attractions. Wrap around porch — provides nice views of island, bay, ocean, sunset but is also the gathering place for smokers — inconsiderate people smoking, talking and laughing until very late hours. Obviously, this is not a smoke free establishment as advertised. No quiet hour set. Unruly / active children could be heard from room above ours. Noisy and smoky. Dog, owned by staff, runs loose throughout inn. Dusty and non-sanitized. Old and run down. Overpriced. Entire place needs a facelift and a “minimum” set of rules.…
