Very friendly people. Amazing location, with native birds all around. Traditional style hostel. About a 10 minute walk to the ocean beach, but right by the estuary with view across to the ocean. Very peaceful, great atmosphere.

I stayed in the YHA Opoutere in March and they didn't allow dogs then. It's worth checking it out though because things can change.
