Wife and I visited Pensacola primarily to view a practice session of the Navy's Blue Angels. We chose Best Western Plus Blue Angel Inn based on prior experience. Every thing about the Motel was just as we expected.

This hotel advertised “pet friendly” as of October 31 on the Trip Advisor booking tool. As of Nov 1 it has evidently been corrected. As I am preparing to write a letter to corporate Best Western, I was going to take a screen shot to include. I arrived last night to check in after booking through Trip Advisor - with a 10 lb dog - and was advised at the conclusion of checking in that “ no pets were allowed”. I showed the front desk agent - Patty- my cell phone where it indicated the hotel was pet friendly ( she read it and acknowledged)and I asked to speak to a Supervisor, and was immediately informed there wasn’t one. I asked to speak to the owner and she advised me “ I am not allowed to call the owner”. At that point in time Patty lost her cool and told me she didn’t care about my situation as she had no power to correct it. She stated she is 63 years old and needs to retire as she hates her job, hates the public because everyone is mean and nasty and rude, stated I was very rude ( as I’m frustrated yes, trying to help her understand that you can’t publish something and in good faith expect a customer to complacently walk away without gaining some type of assistance or understanding of how this happened) and proceeded to let me know that she didn’t care if I complained and tried to get her fired as she would welcome that. Her rant was embarrassing to me, to other guests who passed by and heard her, but most importantly should be of concern to you. It was absolutely outrageous and appalling. I have worked in the airline industry for 40 years - the past 11 years as Director of Customer Service Training for a major airline. My brand would be so terribly compromised if I allowed my crew members to behave in this manner to our valued customers and I believe yours will eventually suffer if she is allowed to continue serving your customers without additional guidance, training or support. Frustrating to feel powerless to help a customer doesn’t warrant this behavior. An apology and assistance to find another room or provide guidance would have been appreciated. What is even more distressing to me is you carry the name of the Blue Angels - and to someone who has personal connections to Naval Aviators - well, that makes it all the worse. My question to you - how does this happen and why was your front desk support so inclined to dismiss the situation by attacking your guest? What will you do to let your front desk know that this guest was, At one point in time, extremely disturbed by her behavior and felt threatened? Contrary to Patty’s wish, My intent is not to “ get her fired”. Even though her erratic behavior led her at one point to say “ go ahead try, I don’t care about this job or this hotel”.
