If you are elderly or have any special needs look elsewhere. No valet, no bell service, no one to help at all. There are much better hotels. No frills here, should be called a motel. Not a resort. Big disappointment.
As someone who has stayed in a good number of Disney hotels over the years, this was my first stay in a Universal property. I traveled with my wife and sons (both aged 12) and we stayed for a few nights. This place is fantastic, it has a great theme with 50s vibe, two wonderful pools, but the icing on the cake was the lazy river! Our boys spent hours in that, it was a highlight of the trip. Meals were great with plenty of options, the staff were awesome, and the transport to the Universal parks was reliable and efficient. We’d happily stay here again!
Very impressed with the service, cleanliness and amenities at the hotel. Food was great. We never had to wait for a shuttle. Staff was helpful. Pool was heated, clean and relaxing. I will definitely be back again! Great stay!
Amazing time at the resort. Only thing missing is someone to bring drinks while you lounge at the pool. Friendly check in. Lots of food options in a cafeteria style, and overall prices were decent for being at a hotel in a theme park area. (8-17$) You can also get a collector mug with unlimited drinks ( pop, coffee, tea) for 20$/week. There were specials everyday at each station. One night was even a turkey dinner. Pizza was great. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Mini fridge, no microwave unless you are in a family suite. 2 pool areas. Even some sand. Plenty of pool chairs. The lazy river is amazing. You can buy a tube for 17$/ adult. They give you a deflated one to take home or to your room and just exchange it the next day for a filled one. Lifeguards everywhere. They do a great job at keeping the pool fun and safe for everyone. Free bus to Universal city walk/ parks. Took uber to and from airport for 30-40$ depending on time of day/ demand. Well worth it instead of renting a car and paying for daily parking if you plan on just doing universal stuff. Also took uber to cheesecake factory and to buy a few groceries/ alcohol to make our own sandwiches and drinks. Would definitely return! …
When booking a volcano view room and paying extra for that view it is not a guarantee that you will get the view. They have a history of overbooking. We had to spend 1 night looking at electronic equipment and then repack and move to have a view room. The did not refund the extra money we paid for the view
Paid for water park view upon check in they put me on 2nd floor complete waste upon check out the hotel staff member told me he was surprised that I was given that room and that he never gives out that room when there is other options
We stayed at Cabana Bay Dec 30 AND 31. We stayed in what was suppose to be considered a nicer suite. The room price was extremely inflated. We paid extral for the Volcano Bay View. The room was very chopped up. It looked like it was for very short and young people. The beds were barely 5 feet long and the toliets were very low to the ground. We never got the room cleaned ever. We received no amenties for getting this suite. The view was of Volcano Bay but that is after you saw the employees back of the park smoking and unloaded stock!!! Kinda of ruined the view. Check in was a complete chaotic mess. WE paid for the fast pass tickets and the tickets for Volcano Bay . WE quickly discovered that we did not buy tickets at all for Volcano Bay which was suppose to be included with the suite and the fast past tickets were 100 dollars each more . All we paid for is a bus to get there. So we ended up paying over 600 more to up grade. The cafes were closed early and crowed and no where to get any food when you were done with park. A complete rip off. We discovered that our fast pass did not work for any of the good rides either. I would never never stay at Cabanana Bay again. NO concierge services nothing special for this suite that was really a small childrens room. With no towels, cleaning service and small toiliets and beds …
overall disappointing. Rooms need handicap aids. food mediocre quality no full serve dining. price not reasonable. shuttle service was real good and on time each day. lobby staff have little overall knowledge took 3 people and half hour to finally get someone who knew how to print out our boarding passes. we will be back in Florida in 5 weeks and would not stay again
It was decently clean, well themed and kept up. Only complaint is that it’s a HUGEEEE hotel and you might have a 1/2 mile walk off the elevator to your door. There were alot of food options and a shake bar that is at an additional cost. Really enjoyable.
Although it’s not Universal’s most expensive or exclusive hotel, it is super fun and extremely convenient for families. The theming is amazing, has a bunch of things to do, super conveniently located. The shuttle service to and from the parks works perfectly. Two large pools one with a lazy river and another with a water slide. Perfectly heated for a comfortable swim. Food court is super convenient, staff friendly, Starbucks a lifesaver, bowling ball alley, convenience store, ice scream and milk shake stand, we saw the Madagascar penguins at the lobby at a photo op for kids. I’m telling you, worth it 100%!!!! Kids loved it, parents approved!!!
