Very poorly maintained RV park. There were 3 of 6 washers out of order and 2 of 6 dryers for the entire 3 weeks we were here. Rv spaces very small - see pics of our neighbors shoehorned in. There is another RV park just down the road which looks to be nicer. How can Good Sam list this place?
We had a great little weekend getaway at the Sugar Mill Ruins RV park. We traveled with another couple and they brought their rig too....we parked next to each other. When you first arrive you will notice it's more rustic, not all all like the glamping rv parks that charge a pretty penny. It's dirt lots so bring a mat to lay down outside so you don't track in any of it. Depending on the size of your rig you might find it pretty tight to maneuver around in some parts. We have a 29' tow behind and was good. The sites can be pretty tight depending on which one you get so best thing is to call and the office staff can help you with the decision of picking a site. There are a good handful of permanent residents there but it was quiet at night, like really quiet, which was really nice. Thy have a Florida shaped pool which was refreshing and a little tiki bar that served beer/wine. Laundry was on site so if you were staying for an extended time you didn't have to go out to wash your clothes. There is a pond way in the back along with tables and even horseshoe pits so you can have a nice little picnic out there. There is a bunch of jumping mullet in the pond that you will see. Supposedly we were told there is a gator out there but we never saw one so it might just be a rumor...of he's really good at hiding. They also have on-site propane refilling just in case you run out. So overall we have a great time, people were really nice.…
I booked and paid for Cabin 4, but after talking with management to get an idea of what all is included (the website has little info and no photos of the cabins), I ended up calling and cancelling. Note that ,as of this writing in June 2022, there's a $200 deposit for cabin rental, even for just two days. The cabins have a set of bunk beds and a futon. No full/queen/king beds in any cabins. There's a mini-fridge and a microwave. No coffee pot, no dishes or silverware. You must also bring your own linens! This is basically a fish-camp cabin, very sparse.
This campground was Farley attractive but way too many sites cramped together. We didn’t even hav room to use the picnic table or put out awnings. Also was very poorly maintained except the store and poor areas. I do not recommend this park. Only good feature is close to stores and restaurants.
I reserved a site for 4 nights with full hookups. I was given a site on the main road with only water and electric. Not even a picnic table! The site was extremely noisy with the road traffic. Stayed one night and checked out. The woman at the desk pointed to the No Refund sign and stated that they never give refunds. Don’t waste your money on this place!!
My husband and I made reservations in June - five months in advance. The spot they put us in was very small. Site 102A . A and B I believe were originally supposed to be one site. In addition, the sewer pipe that connects to the hose was MUCH higher than it is supposed to be. Basically "crap " isn't supposed to flow uphill, right? I asked for a discount as the hookup wasn't right and might not even work. They said they don't issue any discounts. They actually told my husband we could go to Home Depot for a piece of gutter! Wow! They did provide a brick to raise the hose so it drains " better ". Oh, did I mention that they said we could have another site? So we disconnected everything, then just as we were ready to go, the called back saying sorry, that other site is taken. UUUUUG. so we set up all over again. The sites are cramped and connections are on poor shape. They gave the excuse that this is the busy season, then tried to blame Covid for poor service. What does Covid have to do with any of this. Needless to say I was disappointed this year and it went downhill in my opinion.…
Last time we had a Power and Water site. This time we reserved a full hookup site, 5 months ago. WE had options, so we booked a 60X40 site. WE arrived today and we got jammed into a site just large enough to hold a trailer. The sewer hookup was up hill from the rest of the site and it was 8 inches off the ground. Plumbing exam question #2: what direction does it run? I drove the trailer onto some boards, but the hose is still on the ground. I asked about a board or piece of gutter.... I was told I could buy one at Home Depot or Lowes. Wife talked to them about the issue with the difference between what we reserved and what we got. They said we could move to a larger site. I disconnected everything and was hooked up to move...they called and said "Sorry, that site is taken". I had to set it all up again. we had just driven 2300 miles in 3 days. I worked hard to avoid saying or doing something that might get me tossed in jail. It's Thanksgiving week, in Florida. I do not have the option to go elsewhere. They obviously know this. Nothing I can do, except drive back home... Making the reservation did get us a site, too bad it wasn't what we reserved, back in JUNE, and paid for. Some people might call it fraud. I deal honestly with others, and being a fool, I expect it from others. Didn't get it here. I truly hope karma catches up with them. I rate the sleep quality low, as I don't sleep well when I am angry. The maintenance guy was as helpful as he could be. He's not management.…
Nice enough place. Lots of full time residents. There aren't any muddy areas. The rest rooms/shower areas were clean enough, but no cleaner. Some folks don't feel the need to clean up after their dogs. The laundry facilities were very good. The pool was very clean. It was quiet enough.
We had the pleasure to stay a couple of nights at this travel park. There are some seasonal long term spots but compared to other parks we’ve stayed in, these are well kept. It is a large park with all the beauty of old Florida. Staff was friendly. It is a rural setting right near the middle of town and probably 15 minutes to the beautiful beaches and beach activities. It’s in a safe area. What more could you ask for as there are few places left in Florida where you can camp with all the amenities this close to everything. We will be back.
We’re central FL residents that love the beach so we thought we’d try this campground for a couple nights. Staff is friendly and the store is well stocked. We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice. Now about the sites....lots of seasonal and permanent residents that don’t take care of sites. Portable car covers that were broken, weeds and overgrowth everywhere. It looked like the whole place hadn’t been landscaped in months. Very tight sites that didn’t leave much room to sit outside. In the last 3 months we’ve done about 5 long weekend trips around central FL and we’d go back to all except this one.
