This is no where near a 2 star hotel. This looks like an old beat up apartment that the owner decided to turn into the a hotel. The room had an awful smell, no phone and no cable. The bathtub was rusted and yellow water came out of the faucet. There was no front desk. It was a bedroom that...

Great location in Miami Beach - old hotel - not the most friendly front desk or flexibility - but given the rate and location great value . It is not a Star rated hotel but a B&B / Guest House type hotel. Also note it is an adult hotel and is not advisable for older couples / children . Was...

We stayed at Island House during spring break 2008 for 4 nights. We had the room billed as a “King Studio”. This hotel is not a new hotel, so if you are expecting brand new, go somewhere else. Our room was large with a king bed, a queen bed, and a small kitchen with a 2-seater dining table. The bathroom...

This hotel is old and run down, stained carpets, window blinds would not open. I figured I would stay one night (of a four night reservation), then move down the street (there are many choices, all at the same rate as this dump). I plugged in my laptop, attempted to turn on my AOL (which I need for my job),...

We found this hotel / guest house a pleasant surprise. After reading reviews we were not expecting too much. The friendly manager checked us in and escorted us to our room. There were 3 of us, we booked a room with 2 Doubles. The room was spacious and very clean. There was a large walk in closet to store our...

Manager was friendly and helpfull. Room was ok with a little fridge. Beds were good and clean, like the daily fresh towels but the bathroom definately...

Nice clean hotel with very friendly help. I parked my car nearby in a safe garage for the week. Everything I liked was in walking distance, beach, clubs, restaurants and shopping! Loved this little place where I did not feel overwhelmed by people asking for tips every minute! Thanks Brian Rubin

Dingy and rundown. Sheets and towels were old but seemed reasonably clean. Furniture and carpets are stained. Bed was horrible. Free happy hour never happened. Breakfast was OK. Hotel is not what it is advertised to be. If you want a great location and a cheap(-er) price, this place will work if you have thick skin and aren't expecting much.

The Island House hotel (1428 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139) is listed as a 3-star property but is more run-down and dingy than a youth hostel. When I complained about the dirt, noise, and lack of privacy - the blinds in my room were broken and couldn't be closed even though the room was right on the street -...
