Riviera Suites South Beach offers a mixed bag for travelers, with service and value often coming under scrutiny. While some guests commend the attentive staff, others grapple with service inconsistencies and unexpected costs, detracting from the perceived value. However, the hotel's prime location earns frequent praise for its convenience and balance between liveliness and serenity. The amenities, including pools and proximity to beachside attractions, generally receive positive mentions, though some guests note room service and maintenance issues. The ambiance strikes a chord with its historic allure and stylish decor, and cleanliness standards are typically high, although some guests report varied room conditions.

We had a lovely stay at the Riviera Suites over New Year’s Eve! My husband and I go to south beach every year in December for his birthday and we love staying in the boutique hotels in the area. This was our first time at Riviera and we were delightfully upgraded to a Suite for my husband’s birthday. The suite was spacious with a kitchenette and living room area and had a nice bathroom and large king bed. I highly recommend getting a suite as the standard rooms are a bit small (typical for south beach though). The only downside is that the walls are thin because it’s an older building so you can hear your neighbors(again typical of south beach I’ve experienced this in every boutique hotel). Huge thanks to Alibe for the upgrade! Everyone we worked with was super kind too! Housekeeping was quick and came everyday even when we left the room late. Check in was easy and they let us keep our luggage by the desk since we arrived early (note that they don’t have proper luggage storage but our luggage was locked so we felt fine leaving it out). The location is great and we could walk to Lincoln road, espanola way, the beach, tons of bars and restaurants! It’s a bit further north from the heart of south beach but we didn’t mind the extra walks since the weather is so gorgeous (also uber/lyft is really cheap). We went to the rooftop pool one day which has gorgeous views although there isn’t much room to sit along the pool but there is an attached deck area that has more seating. It’s also very nice that there is a second pool that’s well shaded! Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel it’s so cute, great location and super nice staff!!

I booked at short notice and checked in shortly before midnight. I was greeted by kind and welcoming staff, including Luisa and Ailibe (I’m very sorry if i misremembered your names), despite the late hour. They were incredibly helpful and surprised me with an upgrade from a Queen room to a suite with no additional cost.

The interior of the hotel was very nicely decorated with elements that showed the historic heritage of the building and the city, including antique furniture and photo books.

The suite was clean, tasteful, and spacious. Windows let in ample natural light and provided a view of the pool and bamboo, and there was tons of storage space. The room was pleasantly cool and well ventilated. Staff help the linens clean and fresh throughout our stay and never got in the way.

The pool was comfortable and not crowded, and the shade provided relief from the heat and humidity. The old growth bamboo that surrounds it was lovely as well and provides a comfortable, naturalistic environment.

The location was very good, with countless cafes, restaurants, and groceries all less than 5 minutes away on foot.

Throught the stay, the staff were quick and helpful with any questions or concerns. All in all, a great experience. Everything was smooth and easy, I highly recommend for anyone visiting Miami Beach.

We were warmly welcomed by Gaby, who continued to be helpful throughout our stay. Clear explanation of amenities, the multiple buildings constituting the property, wifi and pool access.

Our room (404) was on a corner with light on two sides and a small balcony overlooking the street.

The heated pool in building one is beautifully situated and the rooftop pool in building 3 is small but has a lovely view plus a bigger deck with lounge chairs.

Overnight parking in the municipal lot on 23d Street was a short walk away and reasonable ($20 for 24 hours).

Location is NOT really South Beach as it's at 20th Street and South Beach is really south of 15th, but it meant the streets were more quiet at night than further south and it was a nice walk to the south and only 10-15 minutes to Lincoln Road.

The only "issue" we had was there was not a glass of wine to be had at the bar on a Monday night. Post-weekend distributor delivery was not until Tuesday. How's that for a FWP (first world problem)?

We would happily stay again.

I recently stayed at the Riviera Hotel about 2 weeks ago. Beware when booking at this hotel, they have all discounted rates on their website site and if you book it you will not be able to cancel it. However as I was booking this room online it required me to pay the full amount for the reservation which was $641.58, for clarity I book the queen balcony suite. When we arrived and went to check in we were told that we needed to have the card that was used for the reservation. I didn’t have that card so they told me that I had to pay an additional $641.58 and that the online payment would be refunded to me. However the clerk at the front desk were being very weird and suspicious but I paid it. While we stayed there the room was decent but no one came to clean, we stayed from june20-june23 now came to get trash or anything and when I asked they told me that I needed to request that service (which I have never heard anything like this from a hotel) . We checked out a day early because it was a challenge to get towels, tissue, they don’t even have a microwave. Upon checkout I requested paperwork showing where I will be getting my $641.58 refunded to my card that was a hassle. Fast forward to today, it’s been 2 weeks and I have not received my refund and no one is answering the phones or my email. Do not stay at this hotel

The room I still didn't understand if it was ever finished before our arrival because it was quite dirty. Stains everywhere and unsafe sockets detached from walls. The sink is outside the bathroom, towards the door of the room, which is not very convenient. The toilet also makes a noise of garbage disposal every time you pull the water. I booked a balcony with a double queen bed and the impression is that they set up this room as an emergency in case of overbooking.
Fortunately before our arrival we were cancelled the second booking (I still don't know the reason....) for when we return from the cruise, at least we will change hotels. It's definitely not worth the price I paid.
Note of merit to the strategic location a few minutes walk from the beach, the reception staff, professional and friendly with children, and the restaurant that there is in the structure, managed by outsiders. Otherwise I would not recommend at all. Too bad because the site seemed to propose really interesting rooms.

One of the worst experience!! Never want to see this place again. We have booked it for five nights in the middle of our travels in Miami as we had a full schedule that days and thought it was convenient location and we could have something simpler for these days.

Unfortunately before our travel, no-one was responding on our emails regarding a crib for our little daughter so we've tried to cancel and this hotel didn't even want to answer booking.com and since our booking was nonrefundable and they refused to help, we decided to try it even we really didn't want to go there.

We were coming from beautiful Edition hotel, so obviously it was a bit shock but first night was fine, all the troubles came after when we realised the second day that they most likely didn't even wipe the floors after previous quests and that is disgusting. We have a little baby, we don't want to catch anything etc.. It was awful, she got black socks after walking for an hour in the room.. We have asked to fix it until next day but they didn't after I checked. So we decided to book W hotel and go back to our standards.

Since we have overpaid to this property, we wrote booking.com if they can find some solution since we have only stayed for two nights but paid for six since there were clear faults on their side (dirty room). How shocked we were when this awful hotel refused to give us any refund!!!They basically just take your money, give you dirty room and then don't care. Avoid this place!!! My husband didn't even dip his toe in the pool that's how dirty the place looks and feels!

Booked this hotel for 2 nights. This hotel was so horrible we literally left an hour and a half after checking in. Elevator in building 2 not working so they had to move us to a different building. The room literally smelled like cat piss. The room was clean but the smell was absolutely horrible. Water wasn’t working in the lobby, wifi wasn’t working in the lobby to check guests into the hotel. Mosquitos in the room. Absolutely horrible experience. We took the loss we paid for the room but our travel credit card said refunding us shouldn’t be an issue. Beware. Absolutely do not book here. I’m serious. Another guest in the same building as us was complaining about roaches in her room. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Firstly I treat trip advisor seriously and use it all the times for reviews and very rarely contribute . Here is my very honest review of a family of 5 and its honest . By background I am partially sighted as a disability and on booking through expedia had booked one day later than I wanted to by error when typing . Expedia said no problem as it 3 months before I was due to travel and to call the hotel from the UK . I did this 5 minutes after making my booking and apologised and asked for no money back but a simple change of one day in 3 months time . In short they refused, the manager refused , the reservations team refused and it cost me £300 to book another night which we did not use . They said it was policy . I will leave you to make up your mind on what kind of people do this and how sympathetic they will be to any issues you may have and to the disabled community as a whole .
On attending the roof top pool ( which we had largely booked for ) was closed for maintenance and the indoor pool area was filthy. The bar at night flooded with 2/3 inches of water due to ice machine overflowing and if you want a nice nights sleep the noise from the music in the bar ( we were 4 floors up) will make that difficult .
Trip advisor is not about my opinion but just the facts make up your own mind what type of people run this and how they run it , my humble advice go elsewhere .

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly regret to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you encountered during your stay. We always aim to provide a welcoming and accommodating environment, and it’s clear we fell short in your case. We deeply apologize for the confusion and frustration you experienced with the booking issue. While we do have certain policies in place, we understand that exceptional circumstances can arise, and we regret that we were not able to better accommodate your request. We will review our communication and procedures to ensure we are more flexible and empathetic in situations like this going forward. We also sincerely apologize for the issues with the rooftop pool and the indoor pool area, as well as the flooding at the bar. These matters were certainly not reflective of the high standards we strive to maintain, and we have already brought them to the attention of our maintenance and operations teams for immediate review and correction. Regarding the noise from the bar, we understand how this impacted your stay and will work to minimize noise disturbances for future guests, particularly in higher-floor rooms. Your feedback is invaluable, and we thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. We are genuinely sorry that your experience was not as you had hoped, and we appreciate the opportunity to learn from your comments. Best regards, JL

Excellent location. Meters from the beach and the lincoln. Comfortable room with little or no natural light and ventilation. If you leave before 8 am the lobby is closed. Breakfast is correct for those who do it simply (coffee, toast, a bill per person ) could put a coffee machine because it (which is very rich) is in a thermos and is finished quickly . The milk is cold and you are forced to heat in the microwave. Excellent service from staff. Old and noisy air conditioning. Good system of opening entrance to the hotel and room (with code) without carrying keys or cards.

My wife booked the Riviera Hotel for us after our cruise and we couldnt been more pleased about our one night stay. Mark Kelly and his staff did everything possible to make our stay a very nice experience. The location is perfect with the outdoor Lincoln mall just 2 blocks away and Miami Beach boardwalk also a short 5 minute walk. Both of their pools (one is a rooftop and the other a secluded boutique) were so well designed and peaceful. We cant recommend the Riviera enough.

Hi Denise, We are in our 60s and aren’t into nightlife anymore. There are 3 buildings. Our room was in the main building in the back. You may want to request a quieter room. I always have ear plugs with me. We also visited in the shoulder season. There will be more going on in January. Yes, there are lounge chairs and towels for free at the hotel’s designated area close by. We didn’t use the service but went to haulover park/beach instead. There was entertainment every night we were there, mostly one person on guitar or a small band. They were loud for my sensitive ears but they didn’t play late. Some were actually very good, pop or even music to dance to. We had a drink during Happy Hour and were able to meet other guests at that time. A guest told us that the shuttle service to the airport would be discontinued, maybe at the end of the year. You might want to check directly with the hotel. We’ve been four times now. The food is delicious, Art Deco exceptional. Take a walking tour and visit the Wolfsonian if you like Art Deco. Walking the boardwalk is nice and I would just ride one of the free trolleys to get an overview. Hope that this was somewhat helpful.
