The Betsy South Beach hotel garners praise for its cleanliness and standout amenities, such as the rooftop pool and live music, which contribute to its vibrant atmosphere. Many guests appreciate its prime location in South Beach, which offers tranquility alongside easy access to local attractions. While rooms are celebrated for their character, some guests have noted they can be compact and occasionally noisy. The service is generally acclaimed for its warm and attentive nature, although it's not without its occasional inconsistencies. BEST CONCIERGE EVER AND BEST HOTEL EVER!!!
I would like to preface what I am going to say that I am quite particular and have a high level of expectation. I also truly admire people that I perceive and love what they do and do it to the best!
Paul, the Concierge is truly ONE OF THE BEST! I Travel quite a bit for business and never in my life have I met anyone that is so committed and devoted as Paul. It is quite obvious that he is so good at what he does and is so pleasant to be around. All of his Dinner and Lunch recommendations were to “die for”. He made my daughter and myself feel so special.
The entire team is so amazing that My daughter almost cried when we left. We actually felt so “At Home” and loved everything about our stay.
A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO PAUL! We want to adopt him!

JUAN! WHAT A CHARMING WELCOME!
When we walked into the hotel, we were greeted by the most welcoming person, Juan. We felt we had entered Juan’s home as his guest. He is BOTH AN AMAZING PERSON AND BELLMAN. The hotel had been so busy due to the arts festival that was departing upon our check-in so we waited a tiny bit to check in. Juan was so welcoming that we did not mind waiting for our room to be ready.
Anytime we needed anything Juan was there to help us.

ALEXANDRE- AMAZING BARTENDER!
We met the most amazing bartender in the Bar at the BESTSY HOTEL. He is so kind and so creative! We loved sitting at the bar just to see him. We are going to miss him.

FRITZ
Fritz is so kind and so helpful. He helped us in the rain when we were leaving and carried all 5 of our suitcases to meet our Uber. He is so nice and everything he does is so kind and appears so effortless! We feel so appreciated by all the BELLMAN at the Betsy Hotel.
JOANNY -RESTAURANT
Joanny is truly amazing and so sweet. She served us coffee inside and made us feel so at home. She is such a sweatheart and truly a delight.

GONZALO RESTAURANT
Gonzalo was our server for dinner. So kind, sincere and made us feel that we were dinning in his house. Shout out to Gonzalo. The BESTY RESTAURANT is truly one of the best restaurants in South Beach…
MONICA – HOSTESS IN RESTAURANT
Monica was so kind to both my daughter and myself. We did get to know her and sharing all of our day’s stories.

To the BESTY HOTEL.. WE MISS YOU! Based on how awesome the team is.. we are going to come back sooner than planned!
Love you All –
Ronnie and Paige.

Dear Ronnie, What a treat to receive your detailed review and shout-outs for our team! As you noted, we take great pride in providing five-star service at The Betsy, and we are delighted you and your daughter felt so at home with us. We will share your review with Paul, who will be pleased to know his lunch and dinner recommendations were spot-on, and with Juan, who is always ready with a helping hand and a friendly smile. He will grin upon receiving your high praise. Fitz will be smiling too! Alexandre says hello from the bar, and Joanny, Gonzalo, and Monica will learn of your kind words for their helpful and attentive service as well. From our Betsy family to yours, we wish you a happy holiday season, and we await your return! Sincerely, Zach Plutzik, Managing Director

We had the best time this weekend at The Betsy. What a unique hotel. Just walking the halls of the hotel or sitting in the lobby feels like a destination. The hotel has old world charm with modern amenities. Our room was lovely (not very big but had just enough space). The bed was so comfortable and the room was very quiet. I loved the built in bookcases and the interesting selection of books to read are a nice surprise. We stayed in the Art Deco building which is a bit hard to get to from the main lobby (you have to take an elevator, then walk, then take another elevator) but felt newer than the Colonial Wing. If you stay on the 3rd floor of the Art Deco wing, you don’t have to take the elevator twice but it might be noisier since it’s the floor everyone has to use to connect from one building to the next.
Some of our favorite things: rooftop pool, lobby bar happy hour sushi, Miami Margarita (spicy!), friendly staff (Evans, Fritz, Gustavo and Alfonso among others!), meeting Betsy and Rosa (adorable hotel dogs). The location is great, on a quieter end of Ocean Dr but only a block from where it’s more lively. Tons of restaurants and bars within minutes walking. Starbucks is across the street and Walgreens less than a block away for practical items.
The fitness room was very small but had new, nice equipment including peloton bikes.
We had a couples massage which was great but the “spa” was in a hotel room. The tables were in the seating area and we walked through the bedroom to change in the bathroom. That was a bit odd. There was supposed to be aromatherapy as part of the massage but we were not offered it. There was no where to lounge around in robes before and after massages too. Considering how pricey the treatment was, it would have been nice to have more of an experience. (I realize this is a completely first world complaint 🤣).
We traveled without our kids- I don’t think this hotel is a good fit for young children (would be difficult to navigate with a stroller, etc). I also think it would be difficult for wheelchair, walker etc to maneuver.
Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back.

The Betsy is incredible. It's difficult to choose a best feature. The location is unbeatable, with both the beach and the nightlife of Espanola Way being literally steps away. The Skyline Deck is breathtaking and you will want to spend every night relaxing above it all. The hotel is packed with original, curated art; you will definitely take a few extra turns around the hotel just to see the work.
The rooms are lovely with incredibly comfortable beds and high-end linens. I have become a huge fan of (Malin+Goetz) products, which are generously supplied as full sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash as well as hand soap and lotion. Don't bother bringing your own, these are better.
But maybe my favorite detail is the library. The Betsy is a book lover's dream, with books tucked into your room as well as the extensive library. We found ourselves having to purchase two books at the end of our stay; we had to finish them.
The Atrium courtyard, the lovely staff, the support of the local arts community - it's too much for an online review. Highly recommended by a frequent traveler.

I was checking into my husband reservation. It was only one front desk agent at the time of the check in and the phone kept on ringing.. I felt so bad because she was doing everything she could to try to ignore the call to assist me at her best ability. She ended up answering the phone which took a considerable length of time. I got impatience and just asked for my keys. I got the wrong keys, but when I went to back to the front desk Dashna was so sincere! Really, I can tell she really cared. She prepared the new keys for me and I went back to my room. Within 5 minutes I was surprised with a glass of Prosecco, and an apology later from Dashna. She ended up added breakfast to our reservation for the inconvenience. Most hotels doesn't understand that little details like that matters and adds on to a guest experience. That really just gave The Betsy another star in my book. The entire stay was just great. Staff are friendly and filled with charisma. Lunch over at The alley was mouthwatering, I didn't think there was a place that had better a pizza than New York! Overall, tremendous stay. Thank you all!

My husband and I decided to plan a quick getaway for our anniversary, and The Betsy grabbed my attention. Unknowingly we booked our stay on their re-opening day due to renovations. When we checked into our room, we were greeted with champagne by the concierge, which was unexpected. The ladies at the front desk, nothing but smiles!

The hotel sits right across the street from the beach, so if you’re into watching the sunrise, this is the perfect location to be. Ocean Drive was closed for traffic, but you’re still able to walk and tour the streets of Miami. The hotel grounds are unbelievable, I’m a total book junkie, and this hotel has books around every corner. The atmosphere was so refreshing, and this hotel made sure all guests were safe with sanitizing stations throughout the building.

Since we did make reservations on their re-opening day, I understood that a few hiccups would occur but let me tell you, the manager Miguel and staff made sure our weekend was unforgettable. They went over and beyond to ensure our anniversary weekend was stress-free. The food and service exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely book our next stay at The Betsy.

As a performing artist, I travel a lot for work and oftentimes stay in hotels. I’m currently working with a wonderful theatre company in Miami and have had the opportunity to be a guest at the Betsy. It is a beautiful place! Wonderfully friendly staff and service, the amenities are fantastic, and it’s in the heart of Miami Beach. The location is also within walking distance of Ocean Drive and the beach itself. My favorite spots are the rooftop pool (with outdoor showers) and the library. They have an incredible selection of books! Most importantly, amid a pandemic, the Betsy has done a stellar job with their cleanliness. This place is spotless and they are following all the correct procedures to keep their guests feeling comfortable and safe. I only wish I had the opportunity to dine at their restaurants as I have heard all the foodies rave about how great they are. It’s a 10 out of 10 for me!

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years and, while it is still one of our favorites, it has declined since my last review.
PROS:
1. The property still has a laid back adult charm. The ground floor which contains of a comfortable sitting area, the bar and the restaurant is the highlight space in the hotel and is an attractive space for seating, just to relax, or to enjoy a cocktail and listen to the live music.
2. There is live music every night, however it now consists entirely of a piano player which gets pretty old. ( Prior to the pandemic there was a mix of pianists, light rock and roll or latin (bosa nova) performers, sometimes duos.)
3.. The plentiful staff are generally pleasant and accommodating. Fritz, the bellman was very helpful, Servers including Rene were generally a delight,
4. The outdoor dining area is very attractive and many of the food items, such as the made in house pound cake, are delicious and the fruits and vegetables always taste fresh .Lunches and breakfasts are good. Dinners are less successful.
5. There are photographs on display in the hallways as well as special photographic exhibits.
6. Books lovers will find plenty to read in the guest rooms or the free library.
CONS:
1. The worst internet connection I have ever experienced. Once logged in I would loose my connection within minutes, sometime seconds.
2. Surprisingly, since the owners of the hotel (and their beautiful lab ambassadors) are onsite virtually every day the hotel is not well managed. Most of my cons are the result of a lack of management attention,
3. Rooms are very dated, standard rooms are exceedingly small and our suite, at over $1,000 per night, was both in need of investment to replace tired furniture, and ,worse, there were light bulbs that needed replacing, a scale that didn't work, a clogged sink and a smoke detector battery that needed to be replaced after we retired one evening. Everything was eventually remedied, sometimes after more than one visit or call to the desk. All of the doors in the unit creak and are in need of lubrication.
4. Cocktails are expensive and not very well made. Aside from the charm factor of the lobby or outside tables, alcoholic drinks at any of the nearby Ocean Drive restaurants are far better.
5. The elevator to the rooftop pool was out of order for our entire two week stay. This elevator has also been out of order on some previous visits.
6. Some of the dinner items are just not very good, The burger, if ordered without the hot sauce, tastes more like meat loaf than beef. Our two recent dinners were both forgettable. The one bad server we encountered at the hotel for dinner one evening was Sanibel (?).
7. The water containers at both the ground level and upstairs pool areas as well as the water served in the restaurants was usually room temperature rather than iced..

My boyfriend and I were at the Betsy for our second time, and the level of excellence and attention to detail remained just as high as last time. From the moment you step foot on the staircase leading up to the lobby, you are greeted with smiles and utmost professionalism from all the staff. The meals are phenomenal, the beach across the street dedicated to the Betsy guests is picture perfect and peaceful, and the rooms are tasteful and large. The room service is done twice a day, and no detail is left out. Our favorite part of the day at the Betsy is the evenings where the pianists (all world class musicians) play beautiful jazz tunes. They asked for recommendations and everyone clapped.

Best yet is the concierge, Art, who not only provided a history of the area and several recommendations for fun spots to visit, but also sent up a delicious bottle of wine and chocolates as we celebrate a personal event. We never wanted to leave and cannot wait to be back. Thanks Art and the whole team! 🙏

We have stayed at The Betsy a number of times and have always enjoyed our visits, particularly when one of our dogs accompanies us. The hotel is beautiful and invitingly eclectic. Service is typically first-rate. This visit, however, after a wonderful start, things were not up to the usual high standards of this hotel. Check-in at reception with Roy was terrific. The early check-in to our room after a cruise was extremely appreciated. And the porters were as always enthusiastically helpful in grabbing luggage from our taxi and delivering it to the room promptly. Breakfast at the hotel bar with Maria was tasty and fun. However, maybe because they were gearing up to host a big wedding this weekend, pool service was basically nonexistent. Drink options at the pool were limited, dramatically overpriced even for South Beach, and I might have had the weakest and most insipid poolside margarita in Miami. The Ocean deck view may be my single most favorite spot in Miami—it is stunning—but this time the furniture looked worn and unkempt and the deck was not cleaned from whatever event was held the night before. Illy coffee pods were a lovely touch in our room but were not replenished during our stay. More importantly, neither was the toilet paper. The room attendant ignored our written request to refill the ice in our wine cooler. All in all, having stayed here a half dozen or so times in recent years, this time we were disappointed. I have always recommended this hotel in the most glowing terms but will be a little hesitant to do so going forward.

The staff at the Betsy are so welcoming and always doing everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Coreem & Marim were especially helpful at the beach, securing us chairs and anything else we needed. The live music every night filled the hotel lobby and bar area was the nicest touch to the overall experience. Great drinks & food as well. There are minor things...the hotel has two buildings and the rooms in the building where the front desk is feel a tad bit in need of remodeling/upgrade. Rooftop and pool area as well. You can tell the hotel has gotten a lot of use. If you want complete quite for sleeping do not get a room facing the street. The music played late into the night and we were woken up by the staff power washing the outside patio at 7:00am which seemed a bit early. Overall, would recommend and hope to be back some day.

Rooftop pool pretty but small. Not a lot of chairs. There is a bar on the roof , but I do not believe they serve you. Beachfront service includes towels and chairs and Umbrellas. There is a small shack that has snacks and drinks , but I do not recall adult drinks.
