Stayed with family one night between flights. I didn't understand that Tru was the Motel 6 of the Hilton brand. That explains why, although the rooms were new and clean, they were also spartan. Not sure it explains why there are no ice buckets in the room (had to get a plastic bag from the front desk to get ice) or the fact that our TV had no HDMI signal (too late in the day to have management address). Also note that airport shuttle runs once per hour. Lots of other choices for a 1 night stay near MIA.
If ur Hilton Honor Member dont worry about ise ur benefits there at the fronk desk they told me that the Hilton Honors member benefits doesnt apply in that hotel and make fun about customer questions.
Not a ton of frills. Nice clean rooms. Well decorated and maintained. Nice size pool for a hotel. Breakfast was very nice. Lots of choices, well maintained and restocked. And lots of room for breakfast. Some hotels offer breakfast, but seem to have very limited seating. That was not the case at Tru.
Outstanding hotel! Please read past the poor ratings, most of them are only about the shuttle, or a one time issue the hotel could not necessarily prevent. I travel to Miami 2-3 times per year and have been looking for a new hotel to use, this one has won me over. Many of the "staple hotel" properties (I have previously used) have gone downhill due to covid. Or they won't update their properties and have watered down the member benefits. Here was my experience in July of 2022. Super-fast check-in, in fact they allowed me to check-in 3 hours early. Breakfast was on the 10th floor from 6-9:30 and was a little different each day. Always plenty of fruit, eggs, oatmeal, waffles, and other breakfast items. The attendants worked hard to keep it stocked and clean. My room was very new and clean. Had a small fridge which was also nice. No microwave but they have one near the front desk if you need to warm something. Only room downside was no dresser drawers, or other real space for placing clothes. But they do have hooks on the wall and some hangers along with a bar to hang clothes on. We loved our view of the lagoon, it was busy with row boats. Never waited more than one minute for an elevator. The 10th floor is great. Great big open space with a pool table, foosball table, board games, and lots of spaces to relax & plug your device in. All with a great view of the lagoon or the airport. We did not hear much (if any) airplane noise, the hotel is not on the departure/arrival corridor so it's quiet, yet you still have a great view of the airfield. As a pilot so I pay attention to these details! The gym (10th floor) was not bad, up to 75lb dumbbells and space to spread out for 4-5 people working out. I'm picky about gyms, and felt this one serves you well, especially for a medium size hotel. The staff was all friendly and available if needed. No real perks for Diamond members but they did give me a 3:30pm late checkout which was a lifesaver. 10 minutes or less to the airport, if traffic builds it might be 15. Easy to get on/off the highway, yet you don't feel close to it when you're at the hotel. There is a Starbucks 3 minute (walk) along with Chipotle & Panda Express. If you need more, there is a Publix within walking distance, 5-10 minutes away, depending on busy street traffic you have to cross. I also found out they have FREE laundry on the first floor, WOW! 2 washers and 2 dryers which fill quickly, but hey its FREE, at least as of me writing this in July 2022. I will absolutely come back! I almost passed this up due to the negative ratings on Trip Advisor and Google. I did NOT use the airport shuttle so I cannot review the service. Honestly though, I tend to Uber anyways because I feel all hotel shuttles are "hit and miss". It doesn't take much for a hotel shuttle to get overwhelmed with guests, many whom all arrive/depart near the same time. Most hotels only have one driver so they get behind easy. Ubers still work pretty well in Miami and that's what I use if I don't want to chance the shuttle. Great job TRU Hilton, please continue the great work. It's been a relief finding a hotel this great, and during a time when many hotels cannot provide adequate service, staff or fall short on needed updates. I travel 3-4 days per week and see hotels all over the country, this one is on my top 10 right now.…
Great pre cruise hotel! This is a nice, new, and clean hotel only minutes from Miami airport. Within walking distance is Chipotle, Panda Express and Starbucks for a quick bite. Room includes breakfast with a view of the airport-can watch planes taking off/landing. Our lagoon view room had crew boats practicing, which was fun to watch.
This a new hotel, the rooms are clean and well laid out, however, they are many problems and kinks to resolve, water pressure issues, no hot water and the staff appears to be in experienced and or ignorant of the problems of the property. It appears the hotel opened before the internal construction/ finishings were completed, where they are presently continuing furnishing works along other remedial works while housing customers. This property has the potential to be a great hotel but they need to shut down their operations, and resolve all of their issues including staffing, then relaunch. In summary this hotel doesn’t meet the Hilton brand standards, you will be better off booking at the Hampton Inn around the corner.
I booked this hotel with a Hilton Honors voucher because I needed a close hotel for an overnight layover in Miami. When I called to redeem my voucher, I specifically asked about the shuttle and was told to call hotel directly when I landed and it was not a problem. My Hilton app also says the shuttle runs from 6am-11pm. I called at 10:55pm and was told it wasn’t running anymore (the Hampton shuttle was still at the airport…..should have booked there, but this hotel was new so I thought it would be a little cleaner and nicer). After paying for my own taxi (which was why I booked the hotel….for THE SHUTTLE), I arrived at the hotel to be told that the shuttle wouldn’t run until 7am and my party needed to leave by 6:30am. No apologies, just told that the app had the wrong info. The pillows were the flattest. We had to stack towels underneath them to try to get comfortable. We arrived at breakfast at 6:15am to grab a quick bite (supposed to be ready at 6am) and it was still being set up. I guess the hote is too new and needs to work out ALOT of kinks!…
This is a brand new place that had a great view of the lagoon. The staff is overworked and overwhelmed it seems. Our power went out at 9pm the one night we were there. My husband alerted the front desk and they said it was a whole floor issue and would work on it. The next morning, still no power and my husband alerted the staff again at 6am. The staff acted like this was news to them and had no idea. They said the maintenence guy wouldn't be in until 9am. WHAT??!! So.... my husband who had to be at work at 9 took a shower in the dark and got ready with the light of my cell phone. Breakfast was awesome and the 10th floor was a cool concept with a bar and the breakfast area. They need to get this place up to par as far as electricity and it will be an awesome place. Also, the elevators took forever and one was broken the whole time and someone said it had been broken for 3 weeks.…
No one would answer the phone to get shuttle pick up. Was on the phone waiting 20 minutes at a time trying to talk to someone. After talking to 3 people saying that the shuttle was coming it never came. I had to pay another shuttle driver to drop us off. The breakfast was also not good. Half the stuff was not stocked or the machines were broken. (Juice and pancake). Overall a bad experience. Very disappointed with this Hilton brand considering I have over 2 million Hilton points.
First the positives --- it's a new property and it's a nice property. Felt overpriced, but that could have been due to the travel dates. Now the rest.... The front desk does not answer the phone. Not ever. If you call from a land line, they won't answer. If you dial 0 from your room, they won't answer. I went to the front desk towards the end of my stay to ask if there was a problem with the phone and the person behind the desk very blankly told me they phone hadn't rung she she had been standing there. "But, I'm telling you that I've called at least 5 or 6 times today". Blank look. The shuttle to the airport only runs once per hour. And it still manages to be VERY late and unreliable..... I think if you can get a room for under $150 per night, that feels fair.
