Stayed for about six hours total when flight was canceled. Though I obviously arrived on the shuttle late at night, I was asked if I was parking a car and said no. They still charged me for parking. Then I was charged a second time for the same room, including parking again. I don’t think it was just a mistake. Business travelers stay here so they can probably get away with extra charges.
The Marriott Courtyard Miami Airport is a nice property. Close to MIA. Close to good restaurants (walking distance). Coral Gables restaurants and attractions are a short Uber ride away. Nice staff. Safe, quite location with ample parking, great pool and gym.
We had a very disappointing stay. During checkin we had to submit our creditcard data and we got charged three amounts (even though everything was prepaid) After asking we were told, the amounts will be removed from credit card invoice if we do not consume anything from the mini bar, and actually two of the three amounts were removed but the third amount which was 140$ got charged from my bank account even though we did not consume anything from the mi i bar. I wrote 2 messages via marriot contact form and 1 mail via firstname.lastname@example.org asking why i got charged 140$ but I never received an answer. I never experienced a poor customer service like that. We will not come back.
A few days here, and the experience is quite interesting. Check in was pretty curt, vs. welcoming. For the hotel's info, not everyone has been to this property, even if the company uses it frequently. Bed was acceptably comfortable. Logging in to WiFi was pretty seamless. Coffee maker in the room, but microwave only available next to reception. Fitness room was great, though the free weights need to be updated. They are well worn and seemed to have been used for the last 15 years. Rust also appearing on them. Otherwise, the other equipment was great. Breakfast was pretty standard, but the menu options were better. Recommend that vs. the buffet. Coffee - recommend that one get from Mia's Pantry (located in the Marriott next door) Shuttle to airport - definitely NOT stellar. Shuttle was 10 min late, and I had to ask the front desk to verify the pickup time. The driver then spent the next 8 min circling the complex (Marriott, Residence Inn, Courtyard - circled back to the Couryard again ! ), by which time, it was the next pickup time (every 15 min). Slowed down to pick up another guest who just parked his car, said 'Hi' to someone along the way....By the time the shuttle left the complex, it was 20 min past the pickup time (1135). Definitely need to be better. Luckily my flight was delayed, but if it was not....I would have had to run !…
The good: Close to the airport, with a free shuttle every half hour. It has shared amenities with its bigger Marriott hotel next door. Clean, with a great, modern lobby and sports bar. Big rooms, and nice and quiet. The not-so-good. The rooms are looking tired. The couch in my king room had a couple of stains - not the greatest welcome. Hot water in the shower took up to 15 minutes to come through. Reception sent a maintenance guy who just looked confused when it worked for him but not for me. The bathrooms are tired looking too. It's a Courtyard Marriott - there's a level of service that you get that means it's always fine. This particular venue however never gets better than that. It's also not convenient for any local amenities - a minimum ten minute walk to any other food providers means you're at their mercy, or you need an uber.…
I arrived the night before my cruise, and there were many cop cars outside the CY. The staff apologized for the disturbance, because ultimately it was out of their control. They did tell me the water was going to be shut off in the next hour or so due to a pipe issue. The front desk staff just seemed flustered when I arrived, and again, if I was dealing with all of that I may have been too. The lobby and restaurant area are pleasant, but the bathroom in my room is very old. I think they really need to update these. Overall, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing. I could see it fitting the bill for an airport stay.
DO NOT PARK here our truck was stolen from the parking lot over a week ago we still haven't heard from the hotel as to how this could happen in a secured parking lot VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FALLOW UP
There is not a single reason to suggest going elsewhere if near the airport. Check-in was streamlined. The bar/restaurant was very good. Room, bathroom, etc...all almost perfect. Seriously, if you will be near the airport, this is a fantastic place to stay.
We have almost always had good experience with Marriott, and we stay there almost exclusively. Although the accommodations were comfortable, we had three bad experiences this time that force me to leave a one star review. First the van from the MIA airport double parked in an unlit zone 7. We assumed he would pull to the curb, so we would not have to walk between two other vans. When we realized he was leaving, we yelled to him to stop. He looked at us and drove off. One strike. Our first night was booked with points. When we realized we would be in Miami a second night because of another flight cancellation, we made a second night’s reservation with points. In order to make sure we got to stay in the same room, I called the desk and was assured we could. That night, we got notice of a different room. We told the front desk that we were already in the same room from the first night. We were told that was fine. All was okay until we were hit with a $290 room charge. They claimed we cancelled the reservation that we had booked with points. We had not. Further, we had never authorized a charge of $290 when we already had booked with points. Why would we? Strike two. Despite the fact that it was obviously their mistake, the manager only offered us a $100 discount. What?? We were supposed to pay $190 for a room we never booked? Strike three. I won’t hold it against Marriott, only this particular Courtyard.…
It is located on a campus with two other Marriott properties. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes to and from the airport. If you have to stay near the airport for a short stay, this is a good choice. Breakfast is available for $21.00. An alternative is to walk to the nearby Residence Inn and eat for free.
