It is a palace is built on a sprawling area of 20 acres. The palace built by the Ghorpade royal family showcases vintage photographs, Lambani wall hangings, antique furniture, vintage cars, and an armory museum. The legacy of the royal family made my stay at the palace an unforgettable experience.

Talk about Beauty, Royality and an absolutely Amazing Hospitality and "The Shivavilas Palace" is the place to see all. Situated in the calm and peaceful locality in Sandur, the palace is the evidence of its history.
We stayed in the Palace for three days and were amazed at the rich experience that it provides. The place is royal, surrounded by lush green gardens, vintage setting with an exceptionally comfortable experience and great staff that is always their for support. Cheers to the amazing hospitality! I was amazed to see how the Palace is still engaged in the everyday royal rituals like doing the arti poojan at the temples. The vintage cars are such a treat for eyes. The food is amazing and so is the ambiance. It literally gives you the feeling of Royality that one wishes to gauge the experience of while choosing a heritage property. Thank you for the great experience

We chose Shivavilas Palace in Sandur for our trip to Hampi. Although the drive to Hampi took us almost 50 minutes one way, we don't regret choosing this beautiful palace turned hotel. The room we occupied was well decorated with everything needed for a good comfortable stay. The room was clean and the bathroom with its lovely high ceiling and natural lighting was something we particularly liked. The attached sitout was another attraction. The service was quite good, the staff courteous and prompt. The hotel is located in a quiet part of the town. Food, too, was good.
This was a trip we took in times of a pandemic hence, we had to choose a hotel with a lot thought. As guests it made us feel comfortable when we saw the staff in masks. In such times that's the need of the hour. Our stay was excellent and we would definitely return again. Sandur and Shivavilas Palace took our heart. A special mention of Biswajit, Sameer and Joseph along with another staff at the reception whose name I am not too sure of.

Arrived here at lunchtime after a long drive and a longer flight before that.
Sameer, the manager and a charming man, greeted us warmly. Lunch was a leisurely affair with the the service both attentive and discreet. The meals, soup and main, were a delicious blend of quality, quantity, flavor and spice. The beer (lager) was cold and the juices delicious. Topped off with a tour of the palace and its history, this was a lovely way to utilized a couple of hours.

Shivavilas Palace was a very pleasant surprise. The hotel is tucked away 1 hr from Hampi in the lush Sandur Valley. The property has preserved the ambience of the once Princely State of Sandur, with lots of Raj era memorabilia. The rooms are spacious and clean, and borders on old world luxury of antique furnishings. The staff displays impeccable courtesy and professionalism. You really feel welcome and cherished as a guest. There is not much to do other than visiting the ancient Kumaraswamy temple (in itself highly rewarding and beautifully set in the hills above Sandur) but this just enhances the attractiveness of Shivavilas Palace. A perfect place to unwind with family or friends. The only drawback (for some of us) was that the hotel does not have a licence to serve alcohol.

It was a wonderful and memorable stay at this palace for 2 days. It’s a home away from home. We really enjoyed their hospitality especially by Mr Sameer, Mr Joseph, Ms Tejaswini at the reception and Mr Thimmappa and Mr Biswajit at Restaurant who took care of us nicely .
Don’t miss the car museum where all the vintage cars are there and the Darbar Hall museum where the kind old weapons were kept and it was nicely explained by Mr Joseph.
It’s like revisiting our great giants place of the last century and had a chance to stay there . Thanks a lot for the management team for preserving the heritage items .

We stayed at the palace for a night during our recent family trip to Hampi. The palace is situated around a 75mins. drive from Hampi (towards Bangalore on a scenic detour) in a valley surrounded by hills and a striking red soil from the mining activity in the vicinity.
Right from the entry gate, as one drives to the palace foyer passing the magnificent gardens, one is set for a royal treat. The architecture of the building, decorated with numerous artifacts of the royal family (including vintage cars, royal throne, weaponry etc.) was worth the tour. Our large rooms on the ground floor were very comfortable.
Special thanks to the property manager, Sameer who ensured a smooth booking (and attractive tarriff) and fabulous hosting during our stay. Special mention for the memorable meals we were served! Overall, if you prefer to add a touch of old-world luxury to your Hampi trip, I recommend staying at Shivavilas Palace, Sandur on any side of your drive from/to Bangalore.

It's was last minute trip to Humpi.. But luckily found this Heritage property and got a good deal..
Pros: Large rooms and Excellent service.. The best part is the food.. The menu items are limited, but the all of them taste awesome.. It's not about the number of items, the taste matters..
Cons: This property is 40 kms away from Humpi, but the road to Hampi is good so just 45 mins drive..
Overall just go for it.. 😎

There is no buffet dinner lunch and dinner. You need to order from menu.
The closest airport is Vidyanagar (VDY) which has direct flights from Hyderabad and Bangalore by TruJet. The airport is about 30 mins from the Shivavilas Palace. The hotel can book transport to the airport and also to Hampi (which is about 1 hour away from the hotel). Alternately, there are many travel agents that can arrange a car for the full time that you are in Sandur/Hampi
Guides come in all shapes and sizes at Hampi from the basic types who are more comfortable in the vernacular to the more sophisticated ones speaking English and capable of showing foreign tourists around.
It is recommended that one selects a guide of choice in the vicinity of Krishna Bazar and agree on the duration and fees for the tour in advance.
There is a good guidebook on Hampi published by the Archaelogical Survey of India which is useful as a reference .
As I presume that you are staying at the Sandur Palace heritage hotel, you can seek out the affable Manager, Mr.Joseph
to assist in your search.
