The "Queen of the Florida Keys", Cheeca Lodge & Spa has been an exclusive hideaway for celebrities, business leaders and U.S. Presidents for over 70 years. Set on 27 private oceanfront acres in Islamorada, Cheeca has been constructed with a porte-cochere entrance, traditional Florida Keys architecture and spirited tradition of “barefoot elegance” -- a term coined at Cheeca. Along with a coffee bar and top-shelf lobby bar, Cheeca boasts three distinctive restaurants: Atlantic’s Edge, Cheeca’s flagship restaurant offering a seasonal fine-dining menu of fresh local seafood, prime steaks and organic local produce, Nikai Sushi Bar and Restaurant offering the Florida Keys’ freshest sushi, Asian-inspired fare and a unique selection of Japanese sake and wine; and family-friendly Mia Cucina restaurant transporting Naples, Italy into the heart of Islamorada serving up made to order artisan pizzas, pastas and salads.

we had a fabulous time our room was perfect, loved the fire pit along the ocean. Pool was was warm and we loved the many choices of pools. We did use the kayaks and the paddle boards and my grandchildren loved the fishing on the pier they offered free golf cart rides to various locations within the resort as well

We have been coming to The Cheeca for several years now and absolutely love it here!! Always an enjoyable stay and a beautiful atmosphere. The staff are usually very friendly ( just had 2 small encounters during our week stay that were less than appealing, which is NOT the norm for Cheeca) and the dining is great!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for our Anniversary and look forward to a future return visit. The resort view from our room was a great surprise. The pools and decks are outstanding, and the pier can't be beat. The evening on the beach are exceptional with live music and fire tables near the water with Adirondack seating.

Generally a beautiful space with well manicured lawns, high end appearing furniture/ fixtures, and very spacious guest room with a lovely balcony tub. Unfortunately the food and service is where they really let me down. Seriously overpriced, bland and boring food, not to mention the hour plus wait for it. Yikes. The staff were not rude, but definitely not friendly or engaged with the guests. Blank faces and fear affects, most seemed like they'd rather get thru their day quietly. I'd come back for the grounds, and the spa. But would need to make other plans for food.

Granted have not been back in a number of years but advise you look to other resorts on the Keys before here. The room I booked was on the higher end and was good. However the bar, dinning experience was really bad. Service was terrible and quite frankly to be served plastic cups for $15-$20 drinks was appalling. \

It's a baffling hotel. It feels like it was probably, at a time, a nice resort. The location is gorgeous; the resort was beautifully designed. But don't be fooled. Plenty of other reviewers said it: the service, amenities, and management are atrocious. Checking in takes forever, even when it's not busy. We arrived when only a few people were waiting ; it still took over half an hour. At other times, the line for the front desk was so long, it must've taken hours (as a different reviewer experienced). No doubt this is because the hotel is so poorly run, people are constantly experiencing issues. For example: - The rooms are visibly unclean. I'm talking used tissues beside the nightstand, empty water bottles and wrappers under the bed. You can only imagine the invisible nastiness left uncleaned when housekeeping doesn't even pick up trash. - The phones in the room don't work. We had two rooms over our stay; neither had a working phone. No big deal, we all have cell phones I guess. There's a number to reach the front desk and guest services. - Be prepared for looooong hold times to reach anyone. And when you do, you'll be passed on to some other department. Here's one example: We were placed in the wrong room, so we called to get that fixed. The first three calls rang forever. The next time, someone picked up. It was the "switchboard operator." I explain that I checked in but it's the wrong room, so she transfers to reservations. After waiting on hold, reservations said the reservations team "off site" can't help; I needed to call back and ask to speak with the reservations department on site. Repeat step one. The switchboard operator then transfers to "on-site reservations," but they don't answer. Back to step one again. After a few more tries, I reach on-site reservations but they can't help. I need to speak to guest services. Eventually I reach guest services, but it's actually someone at "group bookings." Finally, this person helped even though it was plainly not her job. - The resort food is not only bad, but the portions are small and wildly overpriced. A $45 fish meal comes with one small overcooked piece of fish lonely on a plate. If you stay here for some reason, forget room service or on-site dining. Just use DoorDash and eat off-site. There are fantastic restaurants in the Keys. - Various little things that matter only if you're thinking this is a nice resort: valet service takes ages, service people are unfriendly, no food or drink service at the pool or beach. - Unprepared for inclement weather in South Florida. Another reviewer, who must've stayed at the same time, covered this. Look for that review. In short, it rained heavily one day and there was a tornado warning. Resort staff had no suggestions what to do. By the evening, the roads on site were totally flooded (while the public roads were passable.) Yet there was nothing directed people to safe routes. The only way to tell whether a road was passable or not was the sight of a parked car sitting in water over its wheels. - If they experience there wasn't bad enough, we were overcharged by $800 for a single night. It took two days of effort to speak with someone who could help. Now the switchboard operator can only "pass the information along to management for a call back" that never comes. They acknowledged it was a mistake, confirmed the amount I should've been charged, and issued a refund -- but for the wrong amount. A week after checking out, I'm still trying to get it resolved. Look, the resort grounds are truly gorgeous. The pier, oceanfront pool, tiki bars, landscaping, are stunning. It makes you feel in moments like you're at a nice resort. And some categories of resort staff are excellent: the golf cart driver and bartenders at the tiki bars. It's as if some resort components are separately managed from the hotel. There are so many amazing places to stay in the Keys. This isn't it.

We had no problems with staff, service, rooms or amenities. Everything was great! A very nice and relaxing vacation. We live in a very touristy beach town (Myrtle Beach), so it was nice to go somewhere quiet and enjoy the beach and ocean without millions of tourists. We couldn't believe how quiet it was considering the place was booked! Loved the atmosphere, and the entire Islamorada vibe. The outdoor bars and on site restaurant were perfect. We also enjoyed using the free shuttle bus to take us to restaurants and pick us up each night. Will definitely be back.

Our daughter was married at Cheeca the weekend of 11/11/23 and if six stars were available I'd vote six. Our group rented all of the Casita's so it was quite special. Ours was the largest Casita ocean front and it was incredible. I highly recommend. From the grounds crew to the service staff to the food and service and beauty of the property, you couldn't ask for more. It was a magical time with a wedding on the beach that couples dream of. The band was Backbeat Entertainment from Orlando and they were fantastic. No one left the dancefloor. I'd like to point out three names in particular that went above and beyond. Pat (Patricia) a server in dining, Allison M the Conference Service Mgr and finally my buddy Chris A who showed up like an Angel from above on day one, taking care of any and all needs from the moment we checked in until the day we were loading our car to leave. Chris was a HUGE help many times every day. Thank you all Cheeca.

Unfortunately this place has been on a slow decline for years. This was once our favorite place in Florida but it’s not what it once was. The main reason being the staff specifically the front desk. There is a reason there are list of front desk complaints. We arrived late with twin babies and a six year old after a long trip. They gave us the wrong room and when I said something they just dismissed us and said tell them in the am. So I did and they ignored me for 30 minutes until I began getting frustrated. When I finally demanded a manager I soon saw why the employees think poor treatment is acceptable. Cassandra argued with me and was extremely rude and unhelpful. I then demanded to speak with her boss who is apparently offsite so I was told he would call by 11:00 and surprise no call from anyone again. All this to try to get the room I booked. I also called ahead for a pack n play and was told tell them at check in. Again at check in they then told me sorry it’s too late we can’t get you one. Wrong room no pack n play nice relaxing start. It took hours of legitimately getting into arguments and demanding managers over and over to just get the room we originally booked. They still didn’t do anything significant to apologize or apologize at all for the mistake and the bad experience. After all that we still had to pack up n move rooms with twin babies and a six year old. It’s bad! I would steer clear. They need major management changes.
