Casa Morada is often lauded for its tranquil setting and well-maintained cleanliness, with guests repeatedly commending the spotless rooms and grounds. The spacious rooms offer stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, enhanced by the hotel's lush gardens and range of amenities, including bicycles and kayaks.
While the serene location near dining and attractions is a highlight, some guests have expressed that the value for money falls short, pointing out high costs and additional fees. Service is generally well-received, yet some inconsistencies, particularly regarding breakfast, have been noted.

We had originally scheduled a trip overseas for our 30th anniversary before the world shut down. I decided to try to find somewhere in the US that was somewhat secluded but still warm and nice enough to replace our planned trip. It is an expensive place to stay but well worth it compared to other options we could find.
Casa Morada is a beautiful little place to stay. There are a limited number of rooms available on a fairly large property. The private little island that has the pool, bar and lawn chairs was a great place to hang out in the sun without dealing with crowds of any sort. So we booked our trip for a week at the end of Dec/beginning of Jan 2021
The service is excellent. Each morning our breakfast was delivered to the room since they could not do their normal setup due to the pandemic.
We stayed in the Iguana suite, which is one of the bigger ones and has a little private area with a couple of chairs and looks out to the little harbor and island. The room was clean and comfortable and could be made private by closing the inner doors over the huge sliding doors that overlook the harbor/island.
We took advantage of their sunset sailboat cruise on the day of our anniversary and it was well worth the money. I'm terrible with names, but the captain and his mate were full of interesting information about the area while we were getting our private sail.
The free yoga classes that were offered were very good and we took advantage of 2 of them.
The free Bikes, paddle boards and kayaks were also very useful. You can kayak/paddleboard starting right in the little harbor.
They are located close enough to many restaurants that you can just walk, so the car never moved unless we were headed to another key.
I'd give them 6 stars if I could, it was just the quiet escape we needed.

My wife and I just went on our first trip since the pandemic started. Morada Bay is the perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy yourself but also stay socially distanced. All the rooms have open air entries and the staff all wore masks. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. They have kayaks, paddleboards and bikes available for free. There are plenty of good open air restaurants within walking/biking distance. The pool area is very cool and is on it's own little island. We even had a manatee hang out by the pool one day. You also get breakfast brought to your room each morning at the time you designate. I would highly recommend Morada Bay.

It's sad and unfortunate when a beautiful property like Casa Morada is allowed to slowly deterioriate due to lack of attention and / or capital from its owners but thats the reality of this property. Dated rooms are held together by a patchwork of dated furniture and motel style layout and its clear the ownership has no desire to take on the task of updating any of the accommodations to justify their lofty daily room rates. Chipped paint in the rooms, tiny TVs, safes that are not bolted to the walls or floors, second hand furniture all add up to a need for a serious capital improvement plan to continue to command the Tier 1 prices it charges. I know people love this place and its location is A+ but at the end of the day, a little reinvestment into this asset is badly needed. The pool and bar area by the water are so nice and then you ask for a glass of wine and their list is filled with cheap, crappy wine and warm sake?? It just falls down in so many places it makes me wonder if ownership is even paying attention?

We eloped in Islamorada and spent the next 2 weeks hopping around the Keys. We were staying at a large resort in Marathon and just weren't happy with the place so we decided to return to Islamorada for the last night of our honeymoon. We tried to get back into The Moorings where we got married and they were fully booked but referred us to Casa Morada. We are so happy they did!! This place is such a hidden gem! We love the smaller boutique style hotels. The service here was amazing! We called just 2 days before and the woman who answered the phone was so kind and helpful. She gave us one of the last two rooms available, the Wild Water jacuzzi suite in the Garden building. It was surprisingly spacious, with a separate sitting area, screened porch and of course a jacuzzi tub. This was an end unit on the second floor and we loved all the windows making us feel like we were in a tree house! The man who checked us in was kind enough to give us a tour of the property and show us to our room.
We then walked down to the bar for lunch and the woman working there greeted us with fresh citrus water. We ordered some drinks and food and just loved sitting there looking out at the water and the boats. So relaxing!
The property is beautiful with all the trees, plants, and hidden water features. Everyone working there was amazing. My husband requested a bottle of champagne be delivered while we were out to dinner and they set it up with candles all around the room too, so romantic! The included in-room breakfast was nice and convenient too! We had an awesome stay and wouldn't hesitate to book here again! My only regret is not having another night!!

Casa Morada is gorgeous! We loved our stay in the Starfish suite!
Starfish Pros: huge bathtub & covered patio ideal for rainy days, lots of space, HIGHLY recommend a waterfront room for the view & proximity to amenities.
Property Pros: Amazing island- chair setups are spread out enough to feel pretty private, perfect spot for paddling, great waterfront restaurants & shops nearby (Lorelei’s & Mangrove Mike’s are walking distance), cabana bar with drinks & some food.
Things I wish I’d known: 1. Breakfast is continental (limited options) and things run out if you come later in the morning. 2. We had to request a coffee maker in advance to have coffee in our room, and we were charged at checkout for using the K-cups they provided. 3. It’s a small enough property that it’s hard to avoid small talk with your neighbors. Could be a pro or con depending on your vacation style :) 4. Housekeeping is available by request, and though we requested daily housekeeping at checkin, they never came. We had to track someone down for clean towels, emptying trash, etc. But the property was so lovely and the room so cozy that honestly this hardly made a dent in our overall experience. Highly recommend!

Very nice place, beautiful sunsets, perfectly landscaped and groomed grounds and plants - I enjoyed walking through the tropical park / oasis from the room on the way to the pool. NO screaming KIDS, no music, just the sound of the palm leaves in the breeze. You can swim in the pool or the ocean using the ladder by the pool area. Pool bar has beer and drinks made with sake and plum wine only. Very nice, friendly staff everywhere. Bikes, Kayaks and SUP boards available free of charge. We didn't run into more than 4 to 6 guests at a time anywhere. Bayside Gourmet nearby has good pizza and sandwiches ( they deliver).
Our room (Coco Palms) was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable ( shower needs some updating). If you are looking for luxurious rooms, pretentious staff, kids running around, noise and action in a big resort, go somewhere else. If you want peace and quiet in a small B&B in paradise, this is it!

We drove down from Ft Lauderdale for a weekend getaway to relax and enjoy each other's company. The property was tucked away off the main street adding to the relaxation vibe we were looking for. The room opened up to a beautiful path that lead to the water which added to the vibe. The room was perfect for a couple looking to enjoy each other's company for the weekend. The service was impeccable and access to the paddle boards and bikes was a very nice bonus. The location was perfect we were never more than 5 minutes away from a restaurant or bar we wanted to goto, which we recommend Mar Bar, The Square Grouper, and Midway Cafe for breakfast.

Given the high nightly rate and recommendations from well respected travel review organisations we were underwhelmed by our stay.
The location and setting are excellent and afforded our first interaction with a manatee on our kayaking trip provided free of charge at the hotel. These were the highlights.
The hotel is rather soulless. We stayed in the Sun Suite it was fine but for the cost did not meet our expectations.
Breakfast was ok - just!
Do you will get a clean soulless room in a wonderful setting.
Our overall view was could do better - pretty average, not worth the nightly rate.
The hotel was not staffed after 9pm though this did no pose a direct problem for our stay.

In an area where there is a certain predictability to accommodation Casa Morada stood head and shoulders above anywhere else we stayed. The wonderful greeting we received from Sara on arrival was a foretaste of things to come. The effort she went to help my wife with a 'shopping' problem went way beyond anything one would normally expect. Our room was beautifully appointed and they provided tea and coffee making facilities on request. The bed was very comfortable (thankfully as I'd obviously picked up something on the flight over and so bed frequently beckoned). The light simple breakfast was perfect for us, the 'island' beach area is a joy and the other staff that we met - Teri(sp) and Max's names come to mind - were a delight making us feel welcome and more like house guests than visitors. We loved it.

Yes, there is a nice breakfast served outdoors in covered deck near the pool
The pool is heated and open year round! There is also a swim ladder to get in and out of the ocean which is right next to the pool area
