Great place to chill out.8 nights of peace. Fished from the dock and went out with Steve from the Tarpon headquarters CAUGHT 135 AND 150 POUND TARPON. Apryl is always there to help and will guide you though things to do in the Keys. Hope to go back again soon.
First of all thank you to April who was gracious and classy even as we were expressing our disappointment and working out an arrangement to pay our way out. This property is a dump. Straight up, flat out, unless you’re a fisherman or boating or diving all day and wont be on property, do not stay here. And guys, do not bring your wife here to hang out on the beach and pool while you fish. She will hate you. It’s a old school guys fishing lodge type of place. Zero style. Super old and not in a good way. Almost no effort put in to making it nice or welcoming. For example, they have lounge chairs on “the beach.” The beach is pretty much a parking lot with a thin layer of scalding sand on it. At noon it was boiled over. No umbrellas. No cushions, no tables, no trees, zero shade. Maybe a human could make it 15 minutes. Tons of seaweed and even more trash in the water. It smelled awful at the property. As April pointed out they can’t control the ocean and they may not even own the adjacent property. So much smelly trash in the water and in the seaweed. Trust me when I tell you the pool is a joke. All the wood is old, unpainted, splintery, etc. April was so nice and professional that I hesitated to write this review. I should have known when we went to check in and the office was in an old closet or laundry room. One of the weirdest and least classy properties I’ve see. And pretty darn expensive too. I write this harsh but true review because I rely heavily on Trip Adviser so I feel like I need to share on the network. This place is horribly overpriced and its really unfair how they advertise as way more than they are. Seems really unfair to the staff as based on April’s reaction to us, we were not the first to be terribly disappointed. I had to apologize to my wife it was so bad. So bad. We like rustic, non corporate, off the beaten path low key places. Ragged Edge is just that - Ragged. It’s horrible. We booked two nights but after seeing the property we paid for the night without staying overnight and got the heck out of there. Shame on the owners for holding this dump up as a nicer place than it is. Straight up dump.…
Stayed four nights while scuba diving around the area and found it to be a perfect location. Had a small mom and pop resort feel while still providing all the conveniences of home. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the cleaning was excellent. I would not hesitate to go there again.
Really enjoyed my recent stay there. It's a small resort but they have a variety of accommodations from hotel-like rooms to some condo-like rentals; we stayed in a queen efficiency which I believe was under the owners' home. Beautiful views from here; pool was never really busy; great little dock that will make boaters happy; both rooms and grounds extremely well-maintained and lovely. Bikes and kayaks available for adventures. Lots and lots and lots of things to do nearby. Chickens wandered back and forth on the walkway next to the rental; we decided to do a little investigating and found a coop back behind the building that was named (of course) Ragged Eggs! I think they sometimes sell eggs in the office from the chickens. This isn't a party palace; it's more for families, fishing/boating fans and couples like us looking for a relaxing location. Sill, there's lots of places to get rowdy nearby if that's what you want to do. Highly recommended.…
My son and I stayed in an efficiency at the Ragged Edge on our Keys dive trip. The location is excellent. Easy to get to things. The resort is directly on the water and is beautiful. It is a small resort with a nice pool. The number one feature is the quiet. It is a distance from Hwy 1. The only noise is the ocean, the breeze, and the sea birds. It is exactly what I was looking for. Staff are very pleasant, and the accommodations fit our needs perfectly. The efficiency saved us money and hassle as we ate most meals there. (There is a Publix supermarket just fown the road). I highly recommend the Ragged Edge resort as a small, understated, quiet resort with a beautiful view.
A small, peaceful resort tucked away from the main highway. The rooms are comfortable, people are friendly and the ocean views spectacular. Lots of comfortable lounge chairs, Adirondack chairs and a great oceanfront hammock! The price was VERY reasonable. I would recommend Ragged Edge to anyone-nice central location!
Back Again after 2 years. Love the Ragged Edge had 5d which was very good. Hope to be go again in June. Beautiful sunsets and a quite oasis . You will not regret making this a place to go. THANKS YOU ALL AT THE RAGGED EDGE
Ragged Edge was a gorgeous place to watch a sunrise, a sunset, boats coming in with their daily catch, or to stargaze. It was quiet and a perfect home base for our trip to the Keys. Bathroom was updated - which was an unexpected surprise. Recommend building 1.
We had to cut short a trip for a family emergency, but the location of the Ragged Edge, near Islamorada, is fantastic, Down a private road, this throwback to a 60s family resort has a sensational view and location facing the Atlantic Ocean. The rooms are small and basic, but the staff is very helpful. Perfect for families.
