One of our favorite hotels! We come back here over and over after trying many key west properties. We’ve stayed in the hotel and a 2 bedroom villa and the villa was amazing!!! Staff is always friendly, the pool is on the smaller side and chairs are limited but it’s still a great size. The location is excellent and everything’s walkable. They even have a parking garage and you can charge your electric car if you have/rent one. Would love to see them offer bikes to their guests. So much of the area is bikeable it would be a nice touch. Some hotel rooms we’ve stayed in are on the older side some have been updated. I’d def ask for updated ones.

Hotel's Favourite
There was not one thing I could find to complain about this hotel. We had the best food when dining at the hotel vs going out. Room was super clean, amenties were great, ideal location, every single staff member was so nice. If someone is complaining about the actual hotel, I can't see how. People who leave negative reviews because they didn't know that cruise ships park there or there was a security deposit placed on your credit card at check in, just haven't done their homework. Stop looking, this is the place for you to stay.

For ocean room view for about $800/night, I expected larger room with an ocean view, not a cruise ship view. The ocean view balcony is a few hundred feet from cruise pier used daily when we were there. Also, had to request extra luggage rack three times. Went to lobby few hours after check in to retrieve myself. Great location tip of west end with easy walk to Duval Street. Quiet, well- maintained with full staff.

Pros: great location - close to restaurants, bars, shopping. Great housekeeping - you can request a time block to have your room cleaned. Quiet, spacious room. Cons: no real lobby. Restaurant just OK. Pool is an average hotel pool - nothing special. Very close to where all the cruise ships dock - but they were gone well before sunset every night.

An absolutely gorgeous hotel perfectly situated to Duval street and loads of shops and restaurants. We did all the major sites and walked everywhere. The hotel rooms are very spacious and beautifully furnished, huge comfortable beds. We loved it ! The cruise ships didnt bother us at all and they always left by sunset. Lovely staff, delicious food!

The resort is a bit outdated, but in a GREAT location. I"ve stayed at the hotel many times and the staff - front desk, bartenders, wait staff, housekeeping, etc - everyone is great, friendly and very helpful. And the food is good! But the big, and I mean BIG downside are the cruise ships!!! The Opal charges $700 to over $1000 a night for an oceanfront room - which might actually be okay if you could see the water. Unfortunately, most days there is cruise ship that blocks any view at all - unless you enjoy sitting on your balcony having a coffee in the morning and having to look at a ship's hull!! Some ships do depart by 4:00 or 5:00, but not all do ... so not only do they block the view of the water for the day, but they also block, what should be, a perfect view of the amazing KW sunsets!! The hotel's owners also own Pier B where these boats dock, so they are fully aware of when the cruise ships are going to be there, yet still charge premium prices for the oceanfront rooms. Boo!!!

Room 311 was full of cockroaches! We definitely didn't pay for the motel. Carpet in the hallway on 3rd floor smelled. Swimming pool is old, small and overcrowded. Room 381 please consider to NOT pay for the ocean view room as whole day until 4 pm there are big cruise ships on the way to your view. Very disappointing. Rooms are old and wallpaper is coming off the walls. For sure you can find a better place for this money. Good things: location, food in the restaurant was ok, ice cream near the hotel, free bottled water.

Nice folks. Broken toilet. sliding glass door won't lock. Phone broken. Probably will look elsewhere next time. It's amazing to pay 2500 for three nights and to have so many things go wrong. Perhaps lack of maintaince, but the service dpt was super slow to respond, look elsewhere.

Always an amazing stay. From the moment you walk into the lobby, everyone is always friendly and inviting. We had the pleasure of being checked in by Jodi Ann. She was more than helpful and had just a great personality. We were upgraded upon request and weren't disappointed. The guest services manager Anne was amazing as well. We always choose this hotel due to the closeness to everything as well as the hospitality. . A great place to stay with children as well. Can’t beat Mallory Square right behind the hotel for an amazing sunset. From the valet to housekeeping, everyone is always welcoming us. It says a lot about Opal’s commitment to a great stay. We’ll be back as always!!!!
