The Ridley house is a beautiful group of old key west buildings. Similar to a bed and breakfast, but very private, separate rooms. This our second time staying here. Rhe location is excellent. Walking distance to Duval St. and Mallory Square. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The breakfast are fantastic. The beds are VERY comfortable. Beautiful shower. We're already planning our next stay.

Dear Cooperdog17! We are so grateful to hear that you enjoyed your stay enough to be planning the next. We agree that the location is amazing and although Key West is very walkable this location lends itself very well to getting to the boisterous end of Duval and of course the one and only Mallory Square. The history behind our Ridley House is truly special and being a part of the National Registry of Historic Buildings we are incredibly thrilled every time we can talk about that history! Thank you and we can’t wait to welcome you back! All My Best, Joy M Boyd Ridley House

We originally booked this hotel in July, 2023 for this trip, which we just took in February, 2024. I’m a Bonvoy Titanium member, but also use American Airlines to book hotels, to help gain status with AA. I say all that to say that I solely chose this particular property because it was a Kimpton, or so I thought. It seems that this property changed ownership on January 9, 2024 and is no longer a Kimpton and it was noticeable when we got there. First the good stuff: - Location is easily walkable to most anywhere you want to go, from Mallory Square to the Southern Most Buoy. It’s still slightly noisy with road/horns/brakes and those types of noises. - Bed was comfy and nicely firm - Housekeeping did a nice job keeping the room refreshed while we were out for the day, so we came back to a made-up room each day. - They offer nice, locally made bagels for the free breakfast. The not so good stuff: - The room, room 11 was tiny! Smallest to I’ve ever stayed in. For $2600 for 4 nights, it’s a total rip off! There was no where to put luggage and clothes, so we literally had to live out of suitcases. - There was no curtains on the windows, just blinds. So at night, the pool lighting lit up the room, making it tough to enjoy a dark room to sleep in. - There was no pressure at all from the shower and the sink water never got hot, but the shower did. - There was pump hand soap on the vanity and pump body wash and shampoo in the shower and all three smelled, looked, and felt like the exact same stuff! - There’s a guy working the office in the afternoon who doesn’t seem too happy to be asked questions by guests. He was curt and borderline rude when I asked for 2 extra towels. - The property really needs to be refurbished! The columns holding the covered patio were completely rotted at the bottom. The pool steps and deck are in desperate need of being refinished. - They charged an amenity fee… for what?!?! So, after paying $2400, I got a bill for $166.52 for the amenity fee, plus related taxes – RIDICULOUS!! There are properties in Key West with a pool that charge this fee and are worth it, but this isn’t one of them! - The front desk isn't 24x7, like most hotels... They close at 10PM... So, if you need assistance (lost keys, need extra towels, etc), you'll need to call the number on the window. Overall, I’ll stick with Marriott and Hilton to book properties when visiting. We visit Key West often and prefer not to stay in these “no name” places, as they don’t seem to be nearly kept up as nicely as places run by Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, etc.

We are so very sorry for the disappointment and do hope you will reach out to me directly for an opportunity to connect on your points in your review. We are grateful for the feedback but certainly would be grateful to connect if your schedule permits. Our Ridley Gazebo is currently being rehabilitated but at all times we want our team to make our guests feel taken care of which we failed to do. Again our apologies and we do hope we can discuss with you further. All My Best, Joy M Boyd Innkeeper@ridleyhousekeywest.com

Truly an excellent stay at the Kimpton Ridley House. Beautiful room overlooking the pool and thank god the A/C was blasting! August heat in Key West is no joke, a couple of times during our stay we went back to the room just to cool down. The hotel is right in the heart of everything, minute walks from Duval Street and just around the corner from the FREE Duval Loop bus stop. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. And the price is UNBEATABLE, probably the best bang for your buck in all of Key West. Would stay at Kimpton Ridley again if we visit Key West. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I really loved this hotel! Amazing staff and the rooms were very modern with it being in a historic home! The pool was very nice nestled in with palm trees that gave a little much needed shade in the afternoon! I will say that the street noise was a little loud but I think wherever you are in Key West you will have that problem. You are 2 blocks from Duvall. 2 blocks from the hot spots. Close to Hydrothunder golf cart rental. Beds are comfy. Showers were hot with great water pressure! Very clean. If the showers are slick just ask for a rubber mat. I would stay here again.

Very nice hotel. Room was very quiet, I didn't even hear the roosters in the mornings! Ashwin helped me log into the computer and Craig was so nice. Pool is a little bit of walk because of where #21 is situated on the property but well worth it, and use it between 2-4pm, you're almost the only one, everyone is out sightseeing or drinking during that time! A large iguana even graced the fence, fun to watch. Tasty continental breakfast, the danish are fresh and a nice selection. The only problem I encountered is that I booked my trip through Expedia, so even though you're an IHG member, you can't have a later checkout, which would have been nice seeing as my flight didn't leave until 6pm and the airport is kind of tiny! I was offered to leave my bag in the office but the office isn't always attended, like when people are being shown to their rooms. But so close to Duval and the marina. I would recommend staying here.

My husband and I stayed five nights here, and I would stay here again despite a few negatives. On the positive side: fabulous location! We walked to everything in the area and used maybe two cab rides to places further away. I love Caroline Street. It's a couple of blocks from the hubbub of Duval Street (the main tourist street) so it wasn't noisy at all. Other great features: a good mattress and soft linens, a great (strong) blow dryer, nice modern decor, a fridge in the room, great A/C with a thermostat and also a ceiling fan (both a must for hot and humid Key West), a reasonable continental breakfast, and a small lap pool. The staff/manager were all very friendly and helpful. Our plane arrived at 9 am but they let us stow our bags until a room was ready, around 1 pm, even though the official check-in is 4 pm. We stayed in the "house" building, with four rooms each on two floors. We were on the second floor, so there are quite a few steps up on staircase in the middle of the house (about 15-20?). (This used to be the Cypress House, for anyone who has been to Key West before.) We had very few gripes but a couple drove me nuts. The bed had feather pillows and a duvet. Ugh! I asked if there were other pillows because the feather pillows were so hot and non-supportive, but there was none to be had. I don't mind a duvet in winter, but I can't imagine it ever being cold enough in Key West to warrant one. So we pulled up the cover sheet and pushed the duvet out of the way, and that was perfect. The bathroom needs some help. It's okay overall, but the shower/tub floor is so slick that it's an accident waiting to happen--there is no grab bar either. Ask for a tub mat; I didn't but should have. While there is a vanity with space underneath to store things, there needed to be more hooks for clothes and shelves on the wall. We made do. The provided toiletries smell great. We never got the full complement of towels; there was always one hand towel or washcloth missing. For two people, you should get a towel, hand towel, and wash cloth each---if not more. The owner/manager (?) said they'd had washing machine issues when we got there, so perhaps it's not always so. I liked the look of the room, including the hardwood floors, but that meant nowhere to lie on the floor to stretch and do my yoga-like maintenance. Hardwood floors also make for noisy hallways. The walls were also a bit thin and we could hear our neighbors at night. But this is Key West, folks. You don't come here to sleep or hang out in your room. It's a nice middle ground between the really expensive full-service hotels on the beach and the generic but cheaper motels on the other (boring) side of the island. I will stay here again. Do note that the hotel adds a "resort fee" charge of $45 per day when you check out. Factor that into the overall price. It says it's for beach towels etc., but we never used anything that justified it. Oh well, this is the price you pay to vacation in popular Key West.

Here is the truth. This location is on two very busy streets in Key West. While their webpage makes it sound like paradise - it is just the opposite. You will be awake ALL night listening to trucks, scooters, motorcycles, trash trucks, fire trucks, etc. There is NO avoiding it. Just be very aware going into this. The property while it looks very nice - is in a horrible location. Management should disclose this fact, rather than hide it in fancy marketing and photos. I hope this saves you a horrible stay.
