We had an amazing vacation. Great rooms. Amazing food. Prime location for beach lovers. Fantastic vibe and decor of hotel. Had so much fun at trivia night. All the staff was friendly and helpful We will be back!
We had a fantastic stay at the Barbary Beach House. As a family vacation with younger kids, I didn’t want to be right on Duval street so we chose the BBH, it was wonderful! Clean, great pool, amenities and I loved that the beach was literally across the street (except they need a cross walk but not their fault) - without the Duval craziness! Crawford at the front desk was so kind and accommodating, they are lucky to have him as the front facing representation of customer service at the BBH! Based on his friendliness alone, we will be back! Great place to stay!
Barbary was amazing! Our room was beautiful, the staff were all wonderful, and they offered awesome events each night for guests. The food and drinks were fantastic (especially the lobster quesadilla). Go to the spooky stories with Amy, it was one of our favorite parts of our stay! They went all out with decorations and food/drinks, but the real reason to go is how awesome Amy was! We learned a lot and spent the next few days looking for haint blue porches. We also mentioned it was our honeymoon and they had a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and a note in our room upon arrival, which was so kind. The only cons weren’t really that bad and some aren’t even faults of Barbary, just things to keep in mind! The shuttle was fantastic, when we could take it. There were many times that it was full and we had to Uber or wait an extra hour for the next one and risk that one being full too. I think this is because they are currently sharing between Barbary and their sister resort. I get it, but also we paid a resort fee daily to have access to it and ended up paying for Ubers many times because it was full. Not a deal breaker, but just don’t rely on the shuttle to take you back and forth. Don’t let that keep you from tipping their shuttle staff, though, they were all AWESOME. The fire alarm had a malfunction and went off 4 times in one night...all between 2am-6am which really sucked. Not really their fault but definitely lost some sleep that night lol. Note that their fire detectors are sensitive and can be set off by steam of a shower (this also happened a different day of our stay) This next one is definitely not anything wrong with Barbary, just a personal preference to note before booking, if it applies to you. This is absolutely family friendly, as in we were probably the youngest couple there and one of the few people with no children. We knew going in it was family friendly, but expected more of a mix between people with kids and without. We usually don’t mind being around kids but with it being our honeymoon, we wanted to relax and there were kids everywhere all the time. Again, not that much of a problem until you’re in the pool surrounded by them and parents are paying no attention/letting kids do whatever they want. It’s on us for not booking an adults only, but just note if you want a break from kiddos, maybe don’t stay here. A tip: if you want chairs at the pool, either reserve them or get there early. All the soccer moms get up at the crack of dawn to go claim chairs with towels for their family of like 5 kids. There were definitely some times we watched some chair drama go down hahaha. Half the time there are chairs just covered in towels with no one using them because people are selfish and want to save them for when they get there. My husband and I always found a spot, even if it wasn’t in one of the comfy chairs laying out. Other than that, we can’t recommend Barbary enough! It was right by Smathers beach, close to the airport, and a quick ride into downtown. We had a wonderful experience here and would probably come back in the future (once we have kids and want a family resort haha) Honorable mentions: we loved the hammocks on site as well as the cornhole sets…
Great resort! Restaurant was phenomenal on of the best meals I had the whole time! Drinks pool side and great service made for a great time. Roo was very nice and spacious. Made for a great anniversary weekend. We will be back!
I traveled with my husband and 5 children aged 24-7. A prompt shuttle brought us straight to the hotel from the airport. we checked in easily- staff were very friendly, and explained everything well. Our rooms were easily accessed and very spacious . We reserved 2 rooms and we each had our own bed-very comfortable beds by the way. The rooms are very clean: no bugs or strange smells. Location is wonderful, right across from the beach and away from the buzz of Duval. My only complaint is the price. I believe for this price a bit more could be included: all inclusive or at least a breakfast for guests in the morning included, and at least evening room grooming services. The pool is fun, I loved the music they played each day: chill house vibes. Drinks are made well-staff are attentive to take drink and food orders. Every one had fun at the pool even with our wide range of ages among our kids- I would recommend to the resort a more kid friendly pool addition, since they advertise family friendly. The fitness center is non-existent; it is under construction-in fact there is much construction going on there right now- noisy during the day. There is not a spa service on site, again , for the price I would have at least liked the option to purchase a spa service. In a nutshell: Beautiful , quiet, clean, friendly, overpriced.…
