Warning!!!! We had long ago booked 3 nights at the Drift Hotel, with arrival on 21 January 2023 I thought we had checked all the reviews of the place and didn't really find anything bad. After the first night at the hotel in suite 21, we were hit by bed bug bites. We called her who was the manager that day. We showed her and the other staff that there were many bed bugs in the bed. They were very surprised by this, but without any problems we got all our money back. and checked out of the hotel after only one night. They told us that they had never experienced it before, and were very excited that it could be done. here afterwards I can read in reviews made in the weeks leading up to our arrival that there are several guests who have pointed out that there are bed bugs in this particular suite. so it was pure lies and acting from the staff. They rented the room to us even though they were aware that it was full of bedbugs. when we left they said they were very sorry and felt they had ruined our holiday. They also said they would close the room down and get the bed bug problem under control. On the very same day that we check out of the hotel, they post on Facebook that they have this suite available. It is so frivolous and lack of respect from other people. Now we face big bills to get rid of the bed bugs that have hidden in our luggage and arrived at our home. Stay far away from this Hotel. You may run the risk of large costs if, like us, you are affected by the bed bug problem.…
The room itself was not good - road noise, strange smell, noise from neighbouring room, not particularly clean and view over a junkyard. 2/5 But the location of the property was great, as there is a small beach area with loungers and a jetty. No sunset views but the water was nice to swim in, plus you can borrow paddle boards and kayaks free of charge. 4/5
We stayed in Room 21 (their “suite”) December 27-31, and woke up with a few bug bites during our stay. However, after staying four nights, we returned home and were completely covered in huge bites to the point that I had to visit a doctor to receive a steroid shot for the itching. We saw blood splatter spots on the bed from what we now know is bed bugs. I have emailed the hotel, but have yet to receive any response. Very disappointed! Still a nightmare two weeks later!
Ok so we knew this was an old roadside motel that had been modernized and were ok with a quaint experience but there are issues with this place that none of the other reviews mentioned. First off the bathrooms are tiny. We booked a deluxe suite and the room was awkward. The Kitchener area was ok but the counters were vintage 50s Formica and the windows overlooked an old almost like junkyard with abandoned rvs. We kept the shades shut. All the window and door trim in the room was original from the 50s with dozens of coats of paint on them. I mean the room was just not appealing. How hard is it to put in new trim? Paint can't hide 50 year old grime. The bed was comfortable and the tv was nice and modern with lots of channels. At night they have these low lit blue lights and it's down right dangerous walking around the property. They don't give enough light to see steps. The worst part was the service. We were in key largo for a wedding and when we went to iron our clothes noticed the iron leaked all the water out. Went to the front desk to switch it out and they told me they did not have another one but would get one from Another room. I explained we were heading to a wedding and needed tomorrow within the next hour. They never delivered a new iron. Back to the office to inquire and was told they were still looking and it would be delivered. Never came. Needed ice and was told someone would have to fill up our ice bucket as the ice Machine is locked. Left the ice bucket in the office and it was never filled and delivered. Needed towels For the water area and was told they were being washed and to come back later. Went to check out our last day at 930 and the office was locked. Came back at 10 and still Locked. Sign on the door said hours of 8 to 8. Worst part was the price. We paid 450 a night for this motel. Crazy and never again.…
Tbh my first opinion was not very high. It just looked like any other motel that you would drive by. HOWEVER, that quickly changed upon entering our room and viewing the dock area. Although our room was small, it was perfectly formed. It was exceptionally clean with a beach vibe and had fantastic lighting (which has been an issue in most of the hotels we stayed in on our recent road trip). The dockside was so beautiful...watching the sunset from here was amazing. We stayed for one night only but would definitely stay again as the priced was so good especially considering the cost of accommodation generally in the keys.
My plan is to go stay one night in February. I’ve been waiting in a call back from the owner since Tuesday since the other representative said she couldn’t help me regarding gathering more information on the cancellation policy. My reservation was canceled as I asked. I have been reaching back out every day since since the owner had yet to call me back. I’ve wanted to understand why I’m being charged $300 when it’s clear as day heir cancellation policy right in front of me several months out. Also I’ve wanted to look at the possibility of reinstating my reservation but I’m now unsure about how business is run having not made contact with me and just taking my money. I’m more than happy to remove this review but for now I’ll await my call back and good customer service.
We stayed for 5 nights at the Drift Hotel and thankfully it lived up to the reviews that we had previously read. Yes, it's not a luxury resort, but you're not paying luxury resort prices! It is a quiet, family friendly motel and the rooms were clean. As we were there for 5 nights, it would have been good to have some extra storage space like drawers and additional hangers for the wardrobe and to have the room cleaned at least once just to freshen it up a bit. The dock area is pretty and we used the BBQ one night which was nice. Overall, a decent motel in Key Largo which is great for seeing some of the Keys.
A great stop over before we headed to Key West. The hotel was very modern and had a beachy vibe to it. We had a 1 bedroom but the hotel does offer varying rooms for larger families. It's a small hotel with a small beach and free use of the paddle boards and kayaks. We would definitely stay again.
Beautiful, quiet and quaint. Clean and friendly staff. No pool or restaurant but that is part of the charm. Highly recommended. If you want to tour the islands this is the perfect jumping off place. Did i mention reasonably priced.
Traveling through the Keys again, and thought I would drop in on DRIFT. This is my second stay at the property and its been some time. The owners seem to keep improving this property over time. The room was great, super clean, the staff was super helpful, all the amenities like Kayaks and Paddle Boards were still free to use, and the best part - its still a super chill relax spot - Never change please DRIFT - I will be back again soon!
